One of the many mysteries of the boxoffice I simply can’t grasp my head around remains the complete lack of interest for this franchise in my home country.
I definitely feel the hype already here in Germany, the original was massive back in the 90s. I remember back in 2006 my whole class went to Hamburg to see the musical and we were all mind-blown. I‘d say 5mil admissions for the remake is locked with even more at play.
They are popular, just not in the same ballpark as Star Wars, or some certain fantasy series in the 00‘s. And increasing 25% wouldn‘t even mean top 30 OWs
1,5mil OW would still mean nothing special compared to other movies. Superhero pics will never be super popular in our country, and I can understand that.
I read somewhere that nostalgia for Gen1 isn‘t so big in Pokemon‘s home country, but I wonder why that is? For example Let‘s Go Pikachu/Eevee sold considerably less than other 3rd/side editions before. That‘s why I don‘t think it’s gonna break out in Japan and will do gangbuster in the rest of the world.
I disagree, TS3 ended the Andy Trilogy, this is the start of a new one. I‘m sure people are gonna compare the movie to its predecessors, but I try to see TS4 as a fresh beginning in this beloved film series, separate from the others.
