  3. We're still waiting for the results of 2016. But generally Russia is first time ever over 50B₽ and 200M admissions marks. 52,9B₽ (+9,5%) and 213M admissions (+11%). Admissions rose more than gross, so ticket price was weirdly down (about -1%). We have two winners of 2016: Zootopia in gross with 2,28B₽ (#2 all-time) and The Secret Life of Pets in admissions with 9.51M (#2 all-time as well). I'm sure that they helped ticket price to go down. 5. Saturday estimates (link) Too cold today in european part of Russia, so no Christmas bump in gross Yes, we celebrate it on January 7. Assassin's Creed is heading to 640M₽ / 10.6M$ OW - #15-16 all-time. Currently at #15 is The Secret Life of Pets with 635M₽. Monster Trucks show good dynamic so far. Their OW will be about 2.4M$ Passengers are already #17 movie of 2016 with 884M₽, but they have long way to go to 1B₽ and #14 Sunday 01.01 Monday 02.01 Tuesday 03.01 Wednes. 04.01 Thursday 05.01 Friday 06.01 Saturday 07.01 Total Assassin's Creed 4M$ 2.47M$ -38% 2.15M$ -13% 8.6M$ Monster Trucks 0.7M$ 0.6M$ -13% 0.6M$ -1% 1.9M$ Passengers 1.21M$ +727% 1.61M$ +33% 1.44M$ -11% 1.34M$ -7% 0.6M$ -55% 0.53M$ -11% 0.54M$ +2% 14.6M$ Rogue one 0.3M$ +198% 0.44M$ +47% 0.37M$ -17% 0.32M$ -12% 0.12M$ -63% 0.11M$ -7% 0.1M$ -5% 11.3M$ Moana 0.09M$ +150% 0.16M$ +78% 0.15M$ -6% 0.14M$ -5% 0.07M$ -49% 0.07M$ +2% 0.07M$ +0% 13M$ (14M$ with today ER)
  6. Friday estimates (in the table below) -38% drop for Assassin's Creed for 6.5M$ 2 days total. Nice holds for all the others including Monster Trucks (1.3M$ two days). Moana increased. Saturday 31.12 Sunday 01.01 Monday 02.01 Tuesday 03.01 Wednes. 04.01 Thursday 05.01 Friday 06.01 Total Assassin's Creed 4M$ 2.5M$ -38% 6.5M$ Monster Trucks 0.7M$ 0.6M$ -13% 1.3M$ Passengers 0.15M$ 1.21M$ +727% 1.61M$ +33% 1.44M$ -11% 1.34M$ -7% 0.6M$ -55% 0.53M$ -11% 14M$ Rogue one 0.1M$ 0.3M$ +198% 0.44M$ +47% 0.37M$ -17% 0.32M$ -12% 0.12M$ -63% 0.11M$ -7% 11.2M$ Moana 0.04M$ 0.09M$ +150% 0.16M$ +78% 0.15M$ -6% 0.14M$ -5% 0.07M$ -49% 0.07M$ +2% 13M$ (14M$ with today ER)
  7. Wednesday estimates (in the table below) Really solid holds for Passengers. Moana shines at few screens left for second tickets-per-show average. Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Total Passengers 1,21M$ 1,61M$ (+33%) 1.44M$ (-11%) 1.34M$ (-7%) 12.9M$ Rogue one 0.3M$ 0.44M$ (+47%) 0.37M$ (-17%) 0.32M$ (-12%) 10.9M$ Moana 0,09M$ 0,16M$ (+78%) 0,15M$ (-6%) 0.14M$ (-5%) 12.8M$ (13.8M$ with today ER) Viking is still on fire at #1 with 2,8M$ / 13,8M$. Viking can enter top5 of 2016 movies if it survives Assassin's Creed huge arrival. 4 more holidays ahead
  8. Monday estimates (in the table below) Traditionally January 2nd is the biggest day of new year holidays and one of the biggest day of the year. Viking is on fire at #1 with 3,6M$ - single day record for local movies (in rubles)! Cume to date is 7.8M$ Passengers 1,2M$ Sunday / 1,6M$ Monday (+33%) / 10.1M$ total Rogue one 0,3M$ Sunday / 0.44M$ Monday (+47%) / 10.3 M$ total Moana 0,09M$ Sunday / 0,16M$ Monday (+78%) / 12.55M$ total (13.5M$ with today ER) Passengers work great in the evening. Rogue one don't impress. 6 more holidays ahead
  9. Happy New Year everyone! Saturday estimates (link) Though they don't mean much. Animation survived, but there was none evening business. Passengers lost about two thirds. Yolki 5 won saturday, it's rare to win only one day: your 9th day Show times estimates (January 1st => January 2nd): 3. Passengers 15,3% => 14,6% 7. Rogue One 5,2% => 5,1% 8. Moana 1,4% => 1,6% Local (01.01): 1. Viking 26,6% 2. Tri bogatyray 18,4% 4. Yolki 5 14,7% 5. Snow queen 3 8,3% 6. Father Christmas 6,4% Official ER will be 1$ = 60.66₽ till January 9. That's great, especially since real ER usually falling during New Year's holidays. There won't be ANY official data till January 9 too. January 1st daytime figures aren't good at all so far. Strong local animation franchise Tri bogatyrya and sea tsar (aka Three heroes/ Three warriors) expand wide from previews today, but result is weak. It can't even win daytime session. 3 previous parts all ended in top15 yearly and had almost 12 millions admission combined. Viking will win Sunday and actually is the only one who plays really strong today so far. That's a bit unexpected after it's friday drop. Passengers were dead at daytime show times with only 6th per show average. Now they're starting to recoup a bit in the evening. Passengers still can miss top3. And their daily dynamic is not so optimistic as we thought. With all 3 new local family pictures underperforming, Moana survived. It should have almost ended it's run by that time. But today Moana have the strongest day since last Sunday despite loss a lot of screens on thursday and then today. Still 13M$ is the last target for Moana. Btw Snow queen 2 opened great in China! It's 1,4M$ OD will be on par with 4-days OW of third part in Russia (which is happening now). It's funny how China have 2nd part and we have 3rd simultaneously But their result is great.
  10. Official thursday numbers (link) For upcoming few days grosses are hardly predictable. We expect big declines till the last day of 2016 and explode on the first of 2017. Here in Russia we have 9 days off from December 31 to January 8th. Kazakhstan has 3 less days off and Belarus only 5. While huge budget local blockbuster Viking had ok 0,87M$ opening (along with expectations and far not enough for break even) and local New Year's themed franchise Yolki 5 increased from last thursday: Passengers 0,43M$ (-43%) / 6.7M$ total ok hold, holidays will lift Passenger to #16-18 yearly Rogue One 0,13M$ (-34%) / 9.1M$ total won't match TFA OW and can miss top25 yearly Moana 0,04M$ (-12%) / 12.4$ total great hold despite 3! new family titles opened above her. Now Moana is likely to top Trolls
  11. Kinometro has just released their early thursday numbers. They see Rogue One OD at 56-59M rubles Russia-only. That's 63-66M rubles or just 1,05-1,1M$ OD Russia CIS, which is only 31-33% of TFA OD! Kinometro sees Rogue One weekend at just 290-310M rubles Russia-only (about 315-340M or 5,2-5,6M$ OW Russia CIS). That result will be shocking #19-21 OW of 2016. OMG!!! TFA set OW record last year... Looks like Rogue One completely died in the evening. Let's wait for official OD number and saturday increase... But at this point 20M$ are not happening. Even 1B rubles (16,5M$) is not locked. +16% OD Rogue One/ OD TFA. But that's still great Ticket price is surprisingly steady despite the inflation.
  12. Official studio estimates (link) 3,3M$ (-37%) weekend and 9,4M$ total for Moana. Great hold, especially after soft thursday and so-so friday. Though is was weekend with one of the weakest premieres in 2016. 2,2M$ opening for Office Christmas Party was unexpected. 77% over Horrible Bosses 2 and 300% over Horrible Bosses. The night before was not even released. 0,95M$ nice hold -47% for Allied 0,94M$ (-46%) weekend and 21,3M$ total for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It can be in close race with Doctor Strange (22,7M$ so far), but let's see how Beasts will survive Rogue One. 0,5M$ opening for Nocturnal Animals was above expectations too. Tomorrow we will have best ER in 14 months. I hope it can hold till weekend to help Rogue One.
  13. Weekend actuals (link) Moana was unbelievable close to Frozen result, but Frozen had previews. Surprisingly Moana's tickets were cheaper. I also added Tangled, who had the same date and actually did strong for 2010, was #6 yearly and #2 among animation. Moana Frozen Tangled Previews - 107 M₽ - OW, ₽ 335 M₽ 332 M₽ 277 M₽ OW, $ 5,2 M$ 10,2 M$ 8,9 M$ Admissions (OW) 1,39M 1,38M 1,23M Ticket price 241,6₽ 241,7₽ 226₽ Show times 38K 28K N/A Similar table for Ice Age 5, Panda 3 and Angry Birds here (link)
  14. Official thursday numbers (link) Nice 32M₽ or 0.5M$ opening Thursday for Moana. That's more than Frozen and Tangled OD! Though CIS result was boosted by holiday in Kazakhstan, Moana's Russia-only result 21,8M₽ is about on par with Frozen. OW should be north of 300M₽ / around 5M$. It means that Moana will easily top Finding Dory final gross. Allied OD 0,23M$. Weekend will be about 1,7M$. Fantastic Beasts 0.18M$, -64% week-to-week and doesn't include Kazakhstan at all. That's 1,7M$ weekend and around 20M$ total.
  15. Weekend actuals (link) Great 10,2M$ for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. More than any Potter movie. And that's with only one CIS territory included (because of distributor). For example: Fantastic Beasts Russia only: 652M, CIS reported: 664M. Warcraft Russia only: 611M, CIS: 683M. Not so good 4-days hold -58% for Arrival after 3-days start. But it still gonna pass 1 million admission. Doctor Strange took a huge hit from Fantastic Beasts. DS will pass Iron man 3 on wednesday for #2 MCU in Russia. And 5 million admission next weekend. Trolls have one last week before Moana arrives. So doesn't look like it will take major animation milestone of 4 million admission. But still it's result 13M$+ is fantastic. Hacksaw Ridge had rather soft start about 0,38M$ along with previews of local war picture. With Monday (0.81M$) and Tuesday (0.79M$) estimates Fantastic Beasts are at about 11.8M$ after 6 days.
  16. Weekend actuals (link) Great weekend for everything. Doctor Strange is doing so well, already at 15,8M$ (through sunday) with 8,5M$ weekend. DS will finish around 22-24M$ and is on it's way to #2 MCU in Russia. MCU: 1717M₽ Avengers: Age of Ultron 1382M₽ Iron Man 3 1357M₽ Guardians of the Galaxy 1277M₽ The Avengers 1164M₽ Thor: The Dark World 1091M₽ Captain America: Civil War 991M₽ Doctor Strange (7 days + previews) Trolls had remarkable increase on second weekend +3% due to school vacation and extra holiday help. Trolls now stand at 9,8M$ and already passed Finding Dory. They are likely to top The Angry Birds Movie and end up around 14M$. Big and unexpected success. The Girl on the Train had nice 1,9M$ start. It will probably pass Me Before You total. The Accountant held really well (-32%).
  17. Weekend actuals (link) Jack Reacher 2 finished second behind local title The Icebreaker with per show average lower than Inferno and Storks. While The Icebreaker and Miss Peregrine’s show counts not announced, JR2 potentially can have second lowest per show average in top6 oO Jack Reacher 2 was +53% in rubles to original movie, +33% in admission but -26% in $ Major theater chain is re-releasing Harry Potter movies prior to Fantastic Beasts start. All 3 made top25 with 1-2 shows a day on 36 screens. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 8595 admissions / 3 days Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 4657 / 2 days Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 3630 / 1 day I expect 3 or 4 franchise's last entries to make next weekend's chart.
  18. Official weekend estimates (link) Impressive for Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. 408,5M rubles or 6,5M$ is the best start in 7 weeks and 3rd biggest in 4 months. Since Pets nobody opened to even half of that. Miss Peregrine will easily beat X-Men: Apocalypse total and probably BvS. Looks like nobody mentioned... The Secret Life of Pets is now #2 all-time after Avatar in terms of admission with almost 9,5M. But #3 all-time in rubles, trailing Zootopia too. Biggest OW of 2016: 964M₽ Deadpool (#1 all-time) 762M₽ Suicide Squad (#6) 683M₽ Warcraft (#13) 635M₽ The Secret Life of Pets (#14) 621M₽ Captain America: Civil War (#15) 569M₽ Zootopia 548M₽ The Jungle Book 530M₽ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 516M₽ The Revenant (4 holidays OW) 501M₽ The Crew (local) 500M+ 465M₽ Now You See Me 2 417M₽ X-Men: Apocalypse 409M₽ (est.) 19. Weekend actuals (link) The Secret Life of Pets is now third movie ever over 2 billion rubles and 9 million admissions with 2051M₽ and 9,07M tickets. It's likely to fall short of Zootopia's rubles result, but will fight for #2 admission all-time. Also looks like Pets now hold record for most show times ever with almost 272K. Minions had 263K and Zootopia 230K show times total. Avatar's data not available, but it had much less screens. Biggest animation (all in million rubles): Pets Zootopia Minions Previews 404 107 - OW 635 /1039 569 /676 865 1st weekdays 242 /1281 508 /1184 280 /1145 2nd weekend 319 -50% 324 -41% 273 -68% 2nd weekdays 142 /1742 74 /1582 114 /1532 3rd weekend 204 -37% 212 -33% 100 -64% 3rd weekdays 31 /1977 82 /1876 44 /1676 4th weekend 74 -63% 146 -30% 50 -50% After 4th wknd 2051 2022 1726 Total gross 2275 1867 Rank all-time 3 2 4
  20. The Secret Life of Pets is at 20M$ after official opening week + previews. Kinobusiness predicts 52% second weekend drop and Kinometro 46%. Anyway cume through sunday will be near 25M$ and very close to Suicide Squad 4 weeks total. Also today opens Don't Breathe along two local movies and tomorrow Mechanic: Resurrection Biggest animation daily estimated, all in million rubles: Pets Zootopia Minions Previews Sa-Su 202 107 -- Previews Mo-We 202 -- -- OD Thursday 134 50 211 Friday 124 -9% 64 +26% 170 -19% Saturday 203 +57% 184 +190% 239 +41% Sunday 182 -6% 230 +25% 219 -8% OW / Total 635 /1039 569 / 675 865 Monday 86 -53% 229 holiday 106 -52% Tuesday 81 -6% 240 holiday 95 -10% Wed /Total 74 /1280 36 /1184 86 /1145 2nd weekend -- 324 (-43%) 273 (-68%)
  21. Actuals: The Secret Life of Pets 9,96M$ OW and 16,3M$ with previews. Average ticket price was 238₽ / 3,7$, that's rather low in rubles, 10% less than Zootopia had on it's OW. So 2,67M admissions for the weekend and 4,26M total is great. Weekend actuals (link) Also we have 2 more (unconfirmed) records: widests release ever (1284 theaters) and most show times in OW ever. Pets had 61270 show times in 4 days, what is really huge, 42% more than Zootopia. That's not the records to dream of as for me. OW per show average was 22% lower than Zootopia had in March, when thursday and friday were much less crowded than now during school vacation. Monday unofficial estimates (link) Monday was rather strong 1,3M$ for Pets, though it doesn't tell us much about holding power. Total is about 1122M₽ / 17,6M$ what is already #7 of 2016 and over Civil War. Also Suicide Squad became #3 yearly, but Pets will pass it later this week.
  22. Kinobusiness early weekend estimates (link) based on partial sunday data. The Secret Life of Pets 10M$ weekend / 16,4M$ total. That's HUGE! #3 all-time is locked. Looks like 2B rubles will happen too. Juni also believes that TSLoP can fight for #2 all-time with Zootopia. Pets had biggest ever previews and also biggest ever running total after official OW: 1047M rubles.
  23. Official thursday numbers (link) 2,1M$ official OD for The Secret Life of Pets. 8.4M$ cume to date, so 5 days of previews were 6,3M$. Really impressive. 1,5B rubles is a floor now. Even #3 alltime is possible. 25M$ seems realistic at this point. Early weekend projections: 8,7M$ The Secret Life of Pets 2,0M$ War Dogs 1,5M$ (-63%) Suicide Squad 0,5M$ (-68%) Pete's Dragon
  24. Kinobusiness early weekend estimates (link) based on partial sunday data. 4,1M$ (-66%) Suicide Squad 3M$ (2-days previews) The Secret Life of Pets 1,6M$ Pete's Dragon Huge for Pets. Preview impressive 79% more than Zootopia's one. Pets previews seem much wider though. 20M$ very likely. Really nice hold for Suicide Squad. Better than in NA? O_o
  25.
