  1. Well this was a pretty spectacular waste of money. Too bad it's guaranteed to make a profit. $35 million budget smfh...
  2. I made a huge mistake this weekend. I gave money to the new Underworld AND Assassin's Creed. I thought Underworld was a shoe-in for worst movie I'll see this month, but then I saw Assassin's Creed. That's a special kind of terrible. I'm sorry if my ticket sales end up contributing to their profitability. Please forgive me
  3. last 5 animated features I saw in theaters...ooooh that's a toughie: -Anomalisa -Inside Out -BH6 -Despicable Me -Toy Story 3 I just...can't stand the viewing experience with a ton of kids screaming, which always seems to happen when I go. Sidenote: SW7 looking good to get over $940m. Still an outside shot at top 10 all time DOM adjusted. Just need to scrounge together a stable March of ~1.5 mil weeks, 1 mil weekends. #hope #changewecanbelievein
  4. I'm so sad right now...I wrote out a lengthy post about how I've come to the conclusion of 2.25 billion+ for TFA, and how people are gonna now argue between 3 films for GOAT status (GWTW, Avatar, TFA) when factoring in exchange rates and stuff...and how people will be arguing about this for years to come and how fun that's gonna be... But its all gone. Like the archives of the Empire it's been lost to the annals of history.
  5. I have a penchant for horrible films. I would recommend this for the sheer absurdity of it. Can't wait for the final chapter of the obvious trilogy. Only 97 years until it releases
  6. Titanic II is already a movie. I watched it on Netflix. A proper sequel, very entertaining. it was terrible
  7. I'll just throw Blue Is the Warmest Color in here, considering it's an absolutely stunning film and resides as my favorite of the year. Good job France
  8. The White Ribbon, Inglorious Basterds, Black Dynamite, Antichrist... ... everything else.
  9. Let's see how terrible this turns out: 1. Ran 2. The Shining 3. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly 4. Let The Right One In 5. The Fountain 6. Apollo 13 7. A Clockwork Orange 8. The Dark Knight 9. Platoon 10. I Saw The Devil Personal preferences and all, I think this list turned out better than I thought it would. I could recommend these movies a million times over and I'll probably never get tired of watching any of them.
  10. He's A list, but no, he's not in the 'most prolific ever' category. Come on. James Horner, Williams, Morricone, Desplat, Shore, hell even Elfman. Just...come on.
  11. LOL No. James Cameron is the James Newton Howard of directors. He's good enough for praise, but is never at the forefront in his field.
  12. Considering I think Cameron's best work is T1 and the rest of his filmography is a slide down from that point, it's pretty easy to deduce what Tarantino is better than Cameron at. Experimentation within a frame, varying pacing, complex framing, use of palettes within the frame, emphasis on conservative cutting, a bunch of things Tarantino does that set him apart from a great many directors working today. Cameron is a serviceable director that has an eye for what stories will work for him and he doesn't get in his own way when creating what he wants. That's about it.
  13. Nah. That's a fair list of directors that are better than Nolan and I think maybe only Haneke would make it to my top 5 favorite directors. If I said Linklater or Von Trier you'd have a point though As an aside, I kinda can't stand what Von Trier did with Nymphomaniac. Felt like someone spewing their whole life view as 100% correct while ruining their previous filmography and adding pointless "artistic for the sake of artistic" moments. Like the scene with the aspect ratio change. Or the chapter in black and white. Or the random math problems. Or the cliche fade-to-black gunshot. Ugh I wish Von Trier would stop being such a Von Tryhard.
