    6m isn’t really a satisfactory number, it was only 0.3m higher than morbius especially with this Thursday behave like a holiday eve. I believe 45m is still in the run but 1m higher than uncharted really isn’t something that can make me happy. but at least this weekend will likely gross another 100m for the market, right?

    E.T has 72% but cinemascore A+. All these old movies have a weird audience score on RT. At one point they show there are 33m votes for titanic , where endgame released in the internet age, coming only at 1m+ votes.

    26m fake Friday would be great. Will easily top 65m especially with 98% audience score. Even critics score improves to 68%.

    Last I check, Oscar is still the ceremony with highest rating. Even the TV Oscar , Emmy didn’t have 10m viewers and their nominees aren’t supposed to be impacted by covid like the way of movies.

    After what they did to CoG, I must say the brand is no longer a must see or must pay attention event for me. And with this ok review , this certainly didn’t excite me either. In fact I haven’t even seen the trailer properly.

    I think it has little thing to do with release date but the way that universal position these film as their peacock product rather than a theatrical product.

    I would be very relieved if Rock was in fact, unaware of jana’s condition. Then the joke won’t be as harmful then.

    If one need government to regulate which one is joke which is humiliation, then he or she should be categorised as chimpanzees. I would rather Chris rock joke about Jana’s affair than her medical condition. Her affair was at least a self-inflicted incident, compared to a unfortunate unwanted experience. The whole joke is like telling a rape victim that he or she can now easily act better in a rape-themed movie like Elle.

    But domestic weekend box office was consistently above 100m in 2018 and 2019. Now we only get above 100m occasionally when something big happened. Even the uncharted weekend we were coming below 100m.

    I would also hope for a proper review for what can be joke about during ceremony. Rock’s joke about medical condition in front of live tv telecast, despite overshadowed by smith’s act, is still an awful gesture.

    CODA win basically means best screenplay category is way more important than directing nomination now. You can basically have little to compete but once you lock in best screenplay win, that will overpower you to any frontrunner. See Argo and green book. To certain extent, three billboard would have won the race had its screenplay frontrunner status was not taken by get out in the end. Parasite also has its momentum gain after becoming frontrunner in best original screenplay, overtaking OUATIH.

    I thought his tree of life get Palme dor? And he also appear there for his hidden life. I know certain filmmaker like Robert Altman hate the flashy event like those during Oscar season. This is just their personality but believe me , they pay attention to what happened, maybe not religiously subscribing it, but they do. Filmmaking is a creative process where people, no matter how talented they are, is constantly seeking for inspiration. And works by their peers or competitors certainly draw their attention.
