The last shot of the movie is literally anyone but Paul because as Denis said, as soon as Paul wakes up from drinking the blue water, we are done following things from his perspective. He is now a stranger to us. It's almost not the same character, so changed he is. We see the remainder of his actions through the lens of other people until the end of the movie. His perspective is lost to us. It's fully intentional. So no one remains but Chani to end the movie on. She's the second emotional core of the movie, so she's the only logical choice at this point. It has nothing to do with diversity. And I don't think Denis is afraid of the white messiah thing. He has already done great work showing us how terrifying a figure Paul is at the end here, before the 3rd movie is even made (which doesn't portray Paul in a positive light) But you are right, what a terrific movie. I've always had a love-hate relationship with binge releases. As a viewer, it's nice to be able to watch it all in one go, not gonna lie. But like you, I think that the weekly release model really offers something. Discussion. It's nearly impossible to discuss a TV show in a binge release model. Most of your RL friends have either watched 0, 3, 5, or 7 episodes, you have no idea. On the Internet you can only discuss the season as a whole, nobody is interested in discussing individual episodes, because nobody remembers the details because they watched it all in like 1 day. Plus, the added value of speculation between episodes is lost. And it's definitely not inconsequential. It's actually a big loss because it's really fun. So yeah. Love hate relationship.

Alison Schapker is the showrunner. Hard to tell if Kevin J. Anderson and/or Brian Herbert are pulling the strings though. She has some good credits to her name, but yeah... could go either way right now

Except if it's a TV show about the Bene Gesserit (based on Appendix materials from the first book I guess?), it could have real potential to flesh out the universe, and be good in its own rights. It could literally happen like 10,000 years before the movies and still both make sense and tie in with the movies. I am cautiously optimistic.

Are they forced to have a partner? Can Legendary just go "fuck it, we're making it alone"?
