  1. Help us Rth, you're our only hope. I summon thee. Reason has forsaken us, and only numbers will satiate our thirst for knowledge. We are but mere servants of the box office, and are slaves to its will.

    --

    Our father in Asgard,

    purple be your name.

    Your numbers come,

    Your posts be liked,

in any and all numbers thread.

Give us this day our daily estimates,

    and forgive us our overreactions,

as we also have forgiven Deadline.

And lead us not into early breakdowns,

    but deliver us from pre-conceptions.

    Amen

There were situations last night where Canadian advance ticket holders couldn’t get to the theater.

For real, my brother's car wouldn't start this morning.

Outright dumb if you ask me!

It was the same temperature yesterday night for previews so I figure some people just missed their showing

  3. I'm asking this seriously because no one seems to be even considering the possibility...

Rogue One had previews bigger than Civil War -- Why can't it follow its week-end?

    75

    61

    42

    = 179

What is stopping this movie from performing this way?

I mean, TFA did it last year when it followed JW, I understand that the previews were much larger but let's be honest here, it's not like movie theaters could handle more traffic at this point. TFA/JW week-end numbers for each days are probably the maximum right now until more cinemas open, rooms get bigger, or something like that.

  4. Well, back when the RT reviews came in I said that this movie was divisive. It was quite apparent to me, and I think the average score of the movie vs the RT score attest to that, as well as the numerous critics who called it a turd vs the critics who said it might just be the best Star Wars movie yet.

And now... seeing the reactions of people in this thread (and others) on what they thought of the movie --

I think I was right  This movie sure is divisive, more than you would expect a blockbuster Star Wars movie to be anyway

  5. Alright so now that this is out of the way, I came back not long ago and the movie was damn great!

The ending just got everyone on their feet once credits rolled, clapping and cheering, it was awesome. I think this is the movie everyone was looking for, me included, although there are some flaws, excusable flaws that don't detract too much.

I still need to process the movie but damn, seeing all those reviews I managed to keep my expectations in check and let's just say I was thoroughly satisfied. A worthy addition to the saga, surpassing most of them even, I dare say.

Can't wait to see what they have in store for VIII, at this point Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm have my trust and I'll be there Opening Week-End.

  6. MovieMan you went in to watch the movie having already convinced yourself that it was gonna be horrendously bad. You said it yourself with the "5 minutes in" part. Movies tend to cold open and have to engage you progressively, of course if you zone out 5 mins in you're done. The audience could have done anything it wouldn't have mattered to you in the slightest, and now you come rant about it here. I mean, reactions are welcomed but you're just being annoying at this point.

You've said it's the worst movie you've ever seen 4 times in the last 2 pages, that Gareth Edwards ruined your life... We got it. Arguments could be made for trolling.

Leave room for others now, please.

final LOTR movie was the 3rd biggest film worldwide only behind Titanic & Avatar for 8 years

Actually, Return of the King became #2 all-time worldwide when it came out (behind Titanic), and it held onto that spot until 2009 when Avatar came out, which bumped it to #3

    So 6 years #2

It lost #3 to Harry Potter 7.2 I believe, because transformers 3 hadn't surpassed it quite yet in 2011 (I believe the numbers have been modified a bit throughout the years for this movie, the-numbers.com even has ROTK surpassing Transformers 3)

    So another 2 years #3
