*sigh* this is the thread where I will waste all my likes
Oh well, RIP

Indeed, I saw this a few weeks ago and I wasn't too impressed with the overall story. Dialogue was mostly sharp though.
But the visuals and imagination are really something, this movie is definitely worth seeing in my opinion. Very, very original at times, especially near the beginning.
I just wish they went all-in with the possibilities they unlocked instead of resorting to generic stuff as far as story and action goes.

Maybe you're joking or something and I missed the joke but...
What are you doing in the Doctor Strange thread then?

~675 is where it will realistically end up.
It could be a bit lower, a bit higher, but that's what I see.
Great number.

None of that has anything to do with the quality of the actual movie, though. (To say nothing of the fact that a genial, pretty mild movie got savaged with some of the nastiest social media crap this side of GamerGate.)
This movie was doomed from the start. I've been wondering lately just why it turned out to be such a shitshow... I mean, movie isn't really good, but to make it appear like the devil itself was really something coming from social media. And then came the articles about how it UTTERLY BOMBED at the box office while we've all here seen much, much worse performance from movies in general (even though it did do pretty bad)
Anyway, we could go on and on about this, it just seems like re-booting a property that's dear to lots of people can, indeed, backfire horribly.
Also, kinda random but imma purchase the remastered blu-ray release of Lawrence of Arabia since it's black friday, anyone watched this version? it's a fairly recent remaster, and apparently, incredible.
Maybe @Grand Moff Tele , @Christmas Baumer ?

Knowing Deadline, they are looking at the Fri-Fri drops for Strange/Trolls and extrapolating to the entire weekend, forgetting that last Friday was a holiday.
No stated Friday estimate = useless weekend estimate

Per rival estimates, not Warner Bros., Fantastic Beasts is flying to a $30M opening day including its $8.75M Thursday previews, for a mid-$70M range opening.
Abort disaster!

at that Previews number. Still, a reversal of fortune can still happen, let's not count our chickens before they hatch! (this totally means that it could go down but of course I mean up )

Moves to TV
What the hell is this move? Cancel a movie, make it into a TV show... did they just strike a deal with Fox and needed to clear their movie schedule?
And what will happen to Agents of SHIELD? There are, after all, a few inhumans on the show.

I just noticed Rex Reed gave 25/100 to both Arrival and Doctor Strange (on Metacritic)
There are some people in this world who you are just incompatible with.
I think I just found mine.

I thought it looked boring/derivative at first but after seeing the trailer I must say -- color me intrigued.
Definitely looks to have some uniqueness to it, loving those holograms all around the city.

damn my bad.
Well, at this point in its run it's gonna be pretty much finished so I guess it won't impact it all that much.

WoM is great, let's see how Fantastic Beasts hits it next week-end.
Hopefully not too hard

Somebody went full retard here in my city, there is no way to see Arrival in English before November 17th, and it's at the complete other end of the city
Nowadays it's usually pretty easy to get showings in English, I don't know what happened.
Damn

With around $150M in the bag after the week-end, I just don't see how it misses $200M, especially with thanksgiving week-end coming eventually.

I really want this to succeed and be good, but the trailer didn't do anything for me. Looks pretty bad to be honest.
I guess I'll have to wait for another trailer, they can be misleading sometimes, maybe it really is good, and I hope it is
