  1. Hahaha get real! For a box office forum there sure are some people who can’t overcome their own idiotic biases. Star Wars is the franchise that murders the competition, make no mistake about that. You open against Star Wars, you lose. Period.
  2. It has great word of mouth, so that’s bullshit. But I think you know that already.
  3. I absolutely loved Parasite. It was amazing!! And also really funny, which I didn’t expect. Everyone should see Parasite, I know subtitles scare some people but damn that movie rocks.
  4. Little Women was almost unwatchable. One of the worst movies of the year. Thank god the Golden Globes shut it out of the drama category, phew! Everything they nominated in both of the major categories was at least pretty good if not great, so that was nice to see. I’m rooting hard against Little Women, it was almost as bad as Lady Bird.
  5. Yeah you’re right Star Wars is doing terrible! It will probably only be one of the 12 highest grossing movies of all time. What garbage! Fucking loser of a movie. Clearly only like 5 movies ever haven’t been utter bombs and that’s the top 5, everything else is and was a loser and a half. Rise of Garbage is more like it, probably won’t even make $600M domestic, or if it does not even $700M, what a bomb!
  6. Get. Real. The acting was fantastic and some dialogue was very funny, it wasn’t a bad movie, but it’s like watching paint dry compared to Rise of Skywalker and doesn’t hold a candle to Star Wars. To say otherwise just makes you look like a clown. It was the worst movie nominated for a Golden Globe in either major category. Rise of Skywalker kicks ass! An amazing end to the saga and infinitely rewatchable.
  7. I don’t like the term “adult films” being used to describe extremely boring, pointless indie films that these clowns send out every year for the awards votes. That demeans the word “adult” if that’s what you’re going to consider an adult movie. “Absolutely must be boring and pointless and about some left-leaning social justice issue or it’s not an adult movie!!” Pass!
  8. Alita didn’t succeed, but it remains my favorite movie of the year besides Endgame with John Wick 3 close in there. Alita kicked ass, an absolutely awesome movie from visuals to story to world building.
  9. That's an interesting rating system lol. I used to run a review site, I used the 4 star system. 3 stars out of 4 is a B-, not 2.5 out of 5, that's a C- or so.
  10. There were 14 million realities and in only 1 of them could Endgame beat TFA domestic, but this is the one - a Miracle Monday out of the blue!
  11. Holy crap that's an incredible Monday! Has a movie ever increased 400x from Sunday to Monday before?! I thought it wasn't going to beat TFA domestically or Avatar worldwide, but turns it out it just beat Apple's projected earnings for the next 5 years in one day. Never underestimate Marvel!
  12. Wow... takes all kinds I guess. Action doesn’t come any better than MI and I can’t think of a single Bond film that’s better than an MI film. The last movie was arguably the greatest action film ever made, and many critics agreed.
  13. Not that big a force overseas...?! The Force Awakens made more than $1 billion overseas! If you want to say, "a bigger domestic draw than international, compared to other franchises," ok, but words matter, Star Wars is HUGE everywhere. It's just not as huge as some other properties in random non-English speaking countries.
  14. And I feel like this forum is a bubble of extreme liberal politics, but what can you do? I don't know anyone in real life who doesn't laugh out loud at social justice warriors. It's a joke. And it's a serious problem in our society that everything has to become an "issue." I flat out won't be friends with someone like that, I have no tolerance for PC bullshit. I don't befriend racists, either, but I can't tolerate the kind of person who makes every single thing into a social justice issue, where if there's ever a female character in any movie, it's a crime against humanity if she's not "kick ass" and "career driven," like a character has to be a statement about your political position in every case whatsoever. It's absolutely ridiculous. It's even more ridiculous to try to make Black Panther -- a freakin' Marvel movie about as deep as a puddle -- into some big social justice moment where black people finally were "allowed" to act or something. Oh wow, people went to see a movie with BLACK PEOPLE, this is a watershed moment for society! Holy shit I mean I'm only 36, but where were these people when Independence Day ruled the summer box office? Everyone in my class saw that movie at least once or twice in theaters. We didn't go see it for Jeff Goldblum, as much as I love him, and I didn't see MIB for Tommy Lee Jones, either. I saw it for Will Smith, as did most people. It's like I'm living in crazy town, some alternate reality where no movie starring black people has ever succeeded at the box office, and Black Panther was the first. It's absolutely asinine and frankly completely laughable from a film history perspective because it's factually just wrong. It wasn't unique in any way whatsoever.
  15. Clearly I missed something with Frozen, I mean I can only assume it's just because I'm older, or maybe it was more chick-centered love, because I love most Pixar movies, Wreck it Ralph, etc. but man that movie was so mediocre. I think it's a compliment to call it mediocre, frankly, I'm not sure it was that good. Aladdin I liked a lot more than I expected, I have those dang songs stuck in my head all week, which is unbelievable because it's not like I didn't know those songs from my childhood or something but they won't go away. I'd see the movie again if I wasn't so busy, but with Godzilla coming out that I want to see, and I still wouldn't mind checking out Brightburn despite the crash and burn (excuse the pun lol). I guess my expectations for Aladdin weren't that high, but I really liked the trailer and thought immediately, "Alright, that's a live action Disney movie that I am kind of excited about," but even so, I didn't expect that much. Maybe that made me more impressed, who knows.
