  1. I have to be out because Disney/Fox's slate is at least interesting and creative compared to this year's. I really, really want some the originals and non-franchise films to succeed.
  2. Then again, Leave No Trace was the highest reviewed film of last year around this time. Poor film debuted at Sundance just like The Farewell did. Poor film couldn't gain any traction, despite support from critics awards. Of course, The Farewell has a little bit more going for it. A lot more box office, diversity stuff, Awkwafina, A24, and the fact that, so far, this year is WEAKSAUCE for film. So it wouldn't surprise me to see this film fade out of the conversation, but it also wouldn't surprise me to see it land a nomination here and there. Its best hopes are Actress, Supporting Actress, and Screenplay, though... I think Best Picture might actually slip away...
  3. The creator of America Chavez actually came to my university to do some events on campus. I got to meet her. It was pretty cool!
  4. 1. Don't Let Go 2. It: Chapter 2 3. The Goldfinch 4. Brittany Runs a Marathon 5. Ad Astra 6. Abominable 7. Joker 8. Judy 9. Gemini Man 10. Parasite
  5. Due to the amount of players that will be eliminated out of negligence, a Secret Mystery Twist has been triggered. What will the Secret Mystery Twist entail? Find out, on the next episode of Box Office Survivor!
  6. I think I want to see The Peanut Butter Falcon first, but I could see myself seeing this on Labor Day Weekend. It looks like Alex Kendrick's directorial capability continues to evolve with each film that he makes, and I would absolutely love to go support his new film. If reviews surpass my expectations, then that'll increase my desire to see it. If grassroots campaigning really ignites in my church circle like it did with God's Not Dead and War Room, then I'll probably be seeing it anyway. I'll put in a review if I do.
  7. Well, shoot. I won't fan the flames, then.
  8. I really don't know what to think about the whole debacle, but I only have good will for you, JCS. You were one of the more *eccentric* users on the forum, and I miss seeing you on here. If what you say about the contractor is true, I'm sorry for what I said in response to the debacle. And I wish nothing but the best for you, wherever your life takes you. 😄
  9. I've said something along the same lines before, but I think Hustlers is uniquely suited to be a hit in this current moment, because it feels like a film that can speak to many of the people who are a part of the culture. That, and it doesn't look half bad. It's so aggressively feminist that it's bound to peak people's interest in this day and age. I wouldn't be surprised by a $25M+ OW.
  10. @Avatree @baumer @captainwondyful @chasmmi @Claire of Themyscira @DAJK @Darth Lehnsherr @Fancyarcher @Keanu @Kjtc @MrGamer @PanaMovie @Premium George @Rorschach @StarWarsMemer @Sheikh @Thanos Legion @Wrath @YourMother the Edgelord @ZeeSoh I want to officially announce that I am pushing the deadline of all the challenges and things like that to 11:59 PM PST. That's three extra hours for everyone to send in their numbers for those who need it. The trade off is that, for weekly challenges, any predictions sent to me after that time will receive a -10% deduction. (Edit: I probably should've specified this earlier, but the hard cut-off for predictions to be sent is the announcement of the Thursday Preview numbers.) But please remember that predictions for the Weekly Challenge are due tonight at 11:59 PM PST. If you did not send in predictions for last week's Weekly Challenge and you do not send in predictions for this one, you will be automaticallly eliminated from the game. Thank you! I eagerly await your predictions!
  11. Great trailer. Hopefully it counterprograms its way to box office success. I'm sure that's gonna be easier said than done because films like Harriet, Midway, and The Good Liar are aiming for roughly the same audience. It'd be great if Gugu Mbatha-Raw could be in the running for Supporting Actress...
  12. Gary Sinise is in it. That's pretty cool! Happy for Britt Robertson, too! KJ Apa doesn't have the same style of voice as Jeremy Camp, which is a downer...
  13. TRIBAL COUNCIL #1 @baumer @Fancyarcher @PanaMovie @Premium George @Reddroast @Rorschach @Wrath SLAM!: Hi, Team Sokovia! Welcome to the first Tribal Council of the season! It's time for you guys to vote one of your teammates out! PanaMovie: (cocks an eyebrow) You say that like it's a happy thing... Fancyarcher: But it's really a sad thing... Reddroast: Well, at least we can vote out one of the ones that didn't play! Right? *Voting commences.* Fancyarcher: I'm sorry... *He puts his vote in the box and walks off.* Rorschach: This is for the good of the team... *He carefully places his vote.* PanaMovie: Lots of easy targets to choose from this time around... *Slams his vote in and trots off.* Reddroast: Hmm... This person seems like a good one to vote out... *He hurriedly jots down his vote.* SLAM!: Huh? Only four of you voted... *baumer, Premium George, and Wrath sit in silence.* SLAM!: Well... There's no rule against not voting. Before I reveal the votes, may the winner of the Second Immunity challenge please reveal themselves? SLAM!: Let's reveal the votes. The first vote is for... SLAM!: The second vote is for... SLAM!: The third vote is for... SLAM!: First player eliminated off Survivor: Season Six...
  14. I'm not sure what Flea contributed to the song, but I do know that he's worked with Thom Yorke before; there was a 'supergroup' style group with them and other musicians called Atoms For Peace. I don't remember how integral Flea was to that project, but I do know that Flea seems to be more musically inclined than being the bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers would lead one to believe at first glance.
  15. This film radiates positive energy. A must-see.
  16. In the event that the person with the majority vote wins the immunity challenge, the player with the next most votes is eliminated. In the event of a tie, those 2 players with 3 votes each will have their Second Immunity scores compared. The player with the lowest Second Immunity average percentage out of those two players is eliminated from the game.
  17. @baumer @PanaMovie @Premium George @Reddroast @Rorschach @Wrath Please keep in mind that your predictions for Second Immunity are due tonight at 11:59 PM EST! Votes for who want to eliminate are due tomorrow at 5:00 PM EST, but I recommend providing your vote alongside the Second Immunity prediction. Again, you are providing Tuesday Grosses for the following films: Good Boys The Angry Birds Movie II Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark The Art of Racing in the Rain Spider-Man: Far From Home Of course, you don't have to provide numbers for this, but... it could be your only chance to save yourself from elimination. Thank you, and good luck!
  18. Okay, I think I feel better now... I'm really eager to see how the next Holland film approaches the story after the Cliffhanger Ending Which Shall Not Be Spoiled. Hopefully Sony is, too.
  19. I'm worried about the continuity of ththe current Spider-Man films with Tom Holland. Hopefully they continue the current Peter Parker story, because if they were to stop, the Tom Holland films would feel even more unfinished story-wise than the Andrew Garfield ones.
  20. I can't wait to hear more about the upcoming original Pixar and WDAS movies!
