  1. I think this is continuing to look like a great film. The great reviews can really only help the film find an audience. If God's Not Dead 3 is as dumbfoundingly poor-thought-out as the last two, I think I'll see this instead. I'd rather support filmmakers like Steven Spielberg who take the filmmaking process to heart.
  2. The movie was very good -- certainly in the upper tier with All Saints and Courageous as far as faith-based films go. In fact, the film had this profound effect on me. I got really emotional as a Christian who wants to be a filmmaker, because I was inspired by the story of the artist and how he was able to express himself and give glory to God at the same time. One thing this film does right is act as more of a drama than a sermon. It preaches its message without being preachy, just as a great film should. The film allows implements great film technique in quite a few places. In this dry March/April season, if there isn't anything else that entices you, I really do recommend seeing this film for sure. Roadside Attractions didn't go all in on this one for nothing!
  3. ICOI is definitely worth the watch. I choked up based on how relatable the main character is to me as a creative person, and I rarely choke up! It's certainly not meritless, that's for sure!
  4. Well, UMBC played a good game against Kansas State, but they ended up losing 43-50. But I'll always be rooting for this school in the future! They'll always be known as the first 16-seat to beat a 1-seat!
  5. The last time I saw a film in theaters three times was Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This film probably is something special to elicit reactions like this!
  6. I am currently watching the UMBC game; I'm rooting for them to win! It's 20-25 at halftime, so it's still anyone's game!
  7. Very exciting! Mob Psycho 100 definitely deserves a second season. Maybe this is what gets me to watch the show again!
  8. I'm doubtful that the audience for faith-based films attends a single film multiple times unless it's a special case like Passion of the Christ.
  9. I found via advertisements on Box Office Mojo that the film, after opening in limited release on April 6th, will play 'everywhere' -- I'm assuming this means 'wide' -- on April 20th against I Feel Pretty, Super Troopers 2, and Traffik.
  10. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/schedule/?view=&release=&date=2018-08-03&showweeks=5&p=.htm According to Box Office Mojo, the film has been renamed Searching and is set to release wide on August 3rd against Darkest Minds, Christopher Robin, Mile 22, and The Spy Who Dumped Me. Personally, I think they should reconsider and place the film on a date when there are less films scheduled to release, no matter how high profile those films are.
  11. Well, I received the confirmation that the film won't have that narration when the latest trailer aired during I Can Only Imagine. And, honestly, going by the trailer, the film doesn't look bad! (But the only chance I see this over Isle of Dogs is if all of the film geeks rush to the latter film so that it either sells out or takes up all of the good seats and leavea the nosebleed seats in the front. There is a point where I need to be honest with myself about the quality of these smaller films. But I'm still gonna root for this to succeed, and if the trailer keeps getting placed in great strategic places such as I Can Only Imagine and Sherlock Gnomes, I think this could surprise a little bit based on the intrigue of the source material.)
  12. I Can Only Imagine March 16, 7:40 PM, 30-40% full (maybe a little more full than that) Pointe Theater 14, Wilmington, NC Me and my father were attempting to attend the 6:50 showing, but that showing was sold out. The 7:40 timeslot wasn't on Fandango when I looked so it must have been a last minute addition. There was a variety of audience members. Older folks, middle aged adults, teenagers, even a group of younger children. Previews Paul, Apostle of Christ - murmurs Midnight Sun Overboard - laughs Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero - "awww", murmurs Unbroken: Path to Redemption - murmurs There were plenty of laughs and reactions at the film. Someone was definitely crying at the end. Usually, I am talkative about the film once it ends, and I pester my dad about how I felt about it, whether I'm excited ot underwhelmed. This time, it was different. This film had a palpable effect on me, and I was struck to the point where I was mostly silent. It was one of those moments that inspires me to keep striving for God to use me and the passion for film that He gave me. Driving away from the film, my dad asked me if I knew of any of the technical aspects that made the film as good as it was, and I started to list stuff like sound mixing and lighting and camerawork, ans I got really choked up. I was realizing that the filmmakers were truly giving glory to God by implementing their knowledge of filmmaking in this film; I was on the verge of tears because the film had what God's Not Dead didn't have, what War Room didn't have: filmmaking passion. Having just sent a long prayer up to God about leading me to the place He wants me to be in the film industry less than 24 hours prior, I now feel validated. I feel affirmed. I feel like, after studying and making movies, I can be led by God to do exactly what He wants me to do, whether that's with the mainstream or with the Christian film companies. Part of this was the way I related to the film's character, who tries to find his way in a similar industry; I now have more faith and more certainty that God's been there my whole life, shaping me to make the films He wants me to make. And if you are hoping to be in the industries such as film and television and music, and you want to be inspired the same way I was, then I urge you to consider seeing this film in theaters. You might feel how I felt; you might be inspired by the idea that God has been shaping you to do something great in the industry. I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this reaction to this film; my thought process was that, as a part of the crowd that does see a film like this, I would be reporting about, well, a very specific member of that crowd, that crowd member being me. I feel really happy now. That's how the film made me feel, and I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that's how it made the other moviegoers feel. God bless everyone involved with this film.
  13. I am very happy about I Can Only Imagine's box office! I think $10M+ is guaranteed at this point! I am actually in the theater about to watch it! I'm pretty excited!
  14. 1. Isle of Dogs 2. Paul, Apostle of Christ 3. Unsane 4. Pacific Rim: Uprising 5. Ready Player One 6. Lean on Pete 7. A Quiet Place 8. Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero 9. Borg vs. McEnroe 10. God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness
  15. He's got a point; when I saw Annihilation, people had reactions that I rarely hear; I heard gasps, I heard an "uh-uh"... I think the general audience will think this looks good!
  16. I feel like Life Itself is definitely a potential player. I feel like it has that same feel of hardcore sentiment that This Is Us has, and I feel like the trailer, which was more of a TV spot than a trailer, would definitely benefit from more of an actual trailer; in other words, I think thay spot, which was actually aired during the recent season finale of This Is Us, sold the film short, because the film itself looked very well shot, and the actors starring in the film are all notable -- especially Oscar Isaac and Annette Bening. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong, because smaller slice-of-life films historically have a hard time getting Oscar-nominated unless it is undeniably great like Little Miss Sunshine, Juno, and Lady Bird. It might come down to the script, as it arguably did for all three of those examples...
  17. Thought-provoking, right? Maybe then, it could be both the sequel to Darkest Hour and the next Get Out at the same time! Talk about an Oscar sweep!
