  1. If's that's what it was, it'd probably be an existential/psychological horror film about the Nazis...
  2. I remember that when I was little, they were basically the main competitor of Fandango. But Fandango was the one that innovated first, they were the ones with the paper bag mascots, and they were the ones that had a business title that didn't relegate them to ticket-selling alone.
  3. *tries to search for gif/photo expressing happiness* *runs out of time* *stays happy about achievement nonetheless*
  4. I'm gonna keep record of the teams and their progression over the course of the season. Here is where the teams stand after the blind auditions, which ended yesterday night: Team Adam Myla Bass Angel Bonilla Mia Boostrom Drew Cole Davison Genesis Diaz Gary Edwards Tish Haynes Keys Rayshun LaMarr Stephanie Skipper Reid Umstattd Jackie Verna Team Blake Pryor Baird Spensha Baker Dallas Caroline Austin Giorgio Brett Hunter Bransen Ireland Kyla Jade JessLee Jordam Kirkdorffer Kaleb Lee Jaron Strom WILKES Team Alicia Johnny Bliss Britton Buchanan Sharane Calister Terrence Cunningham Liva Faith Shana Halligan Jamai Kelsea Johnson Megan Lee Jaclyn Lovely Jordyn Simone Team Kelly Teana Boston Alexa Cappelli Brynn Cartelli Jorge Eduardo Jackie Foster Hannah Goebel Dylan Hartigan Jamella Justin Kilgore D.R. King Amber Sauer Molly Stevens 12 artists per team... it'll be whittled down to 8 after the battle rounds -- 6 of those are from the base teams and 2 of those are stolen from other teams.
  5. I got around to watching the trailer and I think this looks very well done. I definitely want to see this in theaters. This looks like a thought-provoking film that I will be able to relate to. I was thinking that A24 could struggle to match their past years based on their slate for this year... but with this and a few others of theirs, it is clearly evident to me that they're gonna be just fine.
  6. I've had an interesting though about Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Another recent Best Animated Feature nominee, Ferdinand, was likely able to get its nomination because of its December 15th release date, which was very close to the date of the close of voting. I think that the late release date may have been a factor in helping Ferdinand get its nomination; that has been the case quite a few nominations (and, sometimes, wins as well) -- especially all the indie films getting last-second limited releases. So with its fairly late wide release, the film may have a better chance at getting a nomination than I previously thought based on Ferdinand's previous success. It might not seem like much, but the elimination of recency bias might be the reason why this Spider-Man film achieves what The Lego Movie couldn't.
  7. Fox doesn't have another blockbuster until Deadpool 2, so if they want to tie this trailer to one of their own films, they have to attach it to Love, Simon -- that wouldn't be a bad choice! Plus, it's about time to start marketing if they're aiming to make this a YA hit.
  8. This is a pretty good sign in my opinion. That's a healthy amount of screens for the film; Roadside Attractions absolutely seems to know what they're doing with what they have. Contrary to what the reporter suggests, I think $2-4 Million will be just enough for this film to debut in the top ten, especially if it is on the higher end; Death Wish, for example, won't be able to hold *that* well, especially against Tomb Raider. In fact, I think this film can astound by leaping over $5 million on the opening weekend; sometimes it's harder to measure jusr how far grassroots word-of-mouth is carrying a film at a given moment.
  9. This looks pretty good! I'm a big fan of This Is Us! I'm definitely gonna keep my eye on this...

Your Name * = I haven't sat down to watch the film in its entirety, but I know for sure that, from what I've seen, the film deserves to be on my list. ** = I haven't see the film yet, but I am definitely going to be watching it before the deadline, mainly because of the film class I am currently in at college. I own the DVD for Ghost in the Shell, and I plan to watch it as soon as I get the chance. I know how I want to order my list: via a playoff-style tourney using 100 pieces of paper in a bucket. And I'm gonna personally make sure I have the best list possible from there. Wish me luck!
  11. The review embargo seemingly broke after SXSW and the film currently has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes! No joke! That's really exciting!
  12. I checked the updated rotten tomatoes score, and this film was surprisingly able to jumo up to an acceptable 72% with 18 critical reviews! It's exciting to me that the film is as well received as it is!
  13. I sure hope it is. Whichever film the academy chooses is gonna be telling about what they really stand for, because Isle of Dogs is being positioned as something undeniable. Of course, we'll have to see how The Incredibles 2 and Wreck-it Ralph 2 will fair, but, well, sequels are sequels, and there's only so much initial zeitgeist the filmmakers can recreate. I am absolutely rooting for Isle of Dogs no matter how the rest of the field shakes up.
  14. This cracked me up... if I hadn't of run out of likes, I would've given it one!
  15. I remember one time in 11th grade when I was feeling particulary morose; I got up from my seat to go somewhere, and when I was walking back to my seat, I saw a crushed Cheez-it (a brand of crackers) on the ground. And I stopped in my tracks and I stared at it for a time- I think I was sad that the piece of food had been wasted and thrown on the ground. The teacher came up to me and asked what was wrong, and, unintentionally loud enough for the whole class to hear, I told her, "A wave of depression came over me as I saw the Cheez-it on the floor." The class laughed pretty hard at that. "Do you want me to pick it up for you?" the teacher said in a flattered, amused tone. "No, I'll get it," I mumbled, as I simply couldn't continue through the day until I had gotten that Cheez-it off the ground. I think that's one of my moments of insecurity that I'll never forget.
  16. Well, inquiry about a friend's well-being isn't something to be upset over for either party in the situation.
  17. I am a very insecure person as well. I am here for you, and I am here with you.
  18. I really have to catch up on watching some Spielberg films... I've seen enough of Jaws, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, Munich, and Amistad to know that all of those are at least good, but I'm still missing out...
  19. 1. Raiders 2. War Horse 3. War of the Worlds (very-far-away-#4). Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Those are all the Spielberg movies I've seen in their entirety...
  20. You're not alone. I once took a big character survey, and that's the character it paired me with...
  21. Anything by video essayist Karsten Runquist is a great video to watch. Here is a particularly interesting video of his:
