Christopher Nolan did a great job with Dunkirk. I'm really happy he won.

The way the director win was posted makes me feel like it's a fake win, sort of like Rogue One was the fake ensemble win and Hell or High Water was the real ensemble win last year.
But if it's real, then yeah, I'd say Edgar Wright did a great job making a beautiful piece of pop art.

While I voted for Daniel Kaluuya, Timothee Chalamet probably is a good choice.
I may be wrong, but is all that's left Director and Picture?

There was no doubt in my mind that Laurie Metcalf was going to win this one handily. She definitely deserves it.

Get Out had an absolutely masterful screenplay, and the film wouldn't be anywhere near as good as it is without it. I'm very happy it was able to win.

@slambros you better break coolio's streak btw.
We'll see... I voted for Coolio myself...

Wonder Woman is an emblem of heroism. I'm glad the character was able to win.

Besides the excellent era-specifc hairstyling, The Shape of Water winning makeup leaves me a little confused because I was of the belief that the fish man was mostly motion-captured...

Not even remotely true.
Well, you're right. Search Party is still a good show even if many people haven't heard of it. I think I just worded my post extremely poorly or didn't think it through or something like that.

I think, for TV, being great means nothing for a show if it can't capture zeitgeist. The Good Place is a great show that certainly captured zeitgeist. I'm glad it won here.

The Shape of Water getting ensemble is very cool. That is a very deserved win even if I did prefer Lady Bird!

They are not hateful, just intellectually lazy, like the concepts they are trying to promote.
Now, I do agree that the filmmakers and the ways they chose to use their themes are intellectually lazy. Faith-based filmmakers should have higher standarfs just as any filmmaker should.

This awards show seems like a flop. There is nobody here. 🤔
I think it's probably just odd timing; that, or some people believe that it's the nominations that truly matter and not necessarily the winners.

I am absolutely happy that both Willem Dafoe and Sally Hawkins won! They were both magnificent in their roles!

Call Me By Your Name is probably the film with the scripr that deserves to win; I haven't seen it but I know how good of a writer James Ivory is.
-
I'm personally very happy that The Emoji Movie won Worst Picture. I think everyone involved in that film should be ashamed of themselves.
-
I was hoping all of the supporters of The Losr City of Z would rally for a cinematography win, but it's okay that Dunkirk won in my opinion; there were some very beautiful shots in it, especially the shot where Farrier is trying to land the plane on the beach.

I think it's ok to want hateful movies, made by people with a persecution complex, to fail.
I personally don't believe that the films are hateful...

considering the climate i'm probably a dumbass for saying the school shooting short film won't win but it's nooooot gooooooood. going with my gut on that.
I think its main competition is The Silent Child. I saw an Oscar voter say that that was the film that really was an actual film; he might've meant that the other films were more like statements than films.

And Dunkirk as a film hinged solely on its editing to be the film it ended up being. Love it or hate it (and I love it), I think Dunkirk deserves that one for sure.
-
Blade Runner 2049 had some very impressive visuals. I'm personally hoping that it's able to win the Oscar.

Phantom Thread probably does have the best costumes of the year. I still need to see the film...
The 6th Annual BOFFY Awards: The Official Ceremony.

Very interesting #8-#10. Those films definitely feel like the ones with the least amouny of support.
