  1. Please explain to me how TLJ is not a sequel to TFA. No Star Wars film has literally just continued the story directly after the previous one finished.
  2. Solo has another weekend as the top dog. Bet DP2 would have liked that. With that in mind and good word of mouth Solo could have a better weekend % wise then DP2 or IW before another blockbuster competitor shows up. Although hard to compare since this is holiday weekend and Sunday numbers will be inflated.
  3. Few days? Isnt it nearly 2 weeks rest of the world and 3 weeks in US. I would think Incredibles 2 will do more damage in 2 weeks. Looks like for 2 weeks Solo, Deadpool 2, and AIW will stick right where they are.
  4. Its like telling us it would have been better had the Bulls with Michael Jordan had spaced out the championships to like 3 over like 15 years. Or telling patriots fans they would have been happier if the had space out the championships and had fewer of them. To us a Star Wars movie, as long as quality remains high, are special events.
  5. No it wouldnt we loved Solo. We have loved all of them. You never know what is going to happen. So I really relish this bond I have with my kids. Maybe it is because I am in my 50s now, I dont know, but this is special to us and I dont think we are the only ones.
  6. Looking at our best theater in my area. Yesterday I tracked 379 tickets sold in the best screen. Today it has sold 504 so far. I also see for the other screens at the theater 233 additional tickets sold from the 4PM showing on. Look at the Marcus Orland Park Cinema in Orland Park, IL. Maybe because it is 91 today in Chicago (94 tomorrow and 95 Monday).
  7. Amazing how divergent thoughts are. To me TLJ is the closest to a continuation of a Star Wars movie as we have ever seen. To me TLJ actually just continues exactly where TFA left off. The First Order did exactly what I suspect it would do which is immediately the remainder of the Republic/Resistance fleet, Rey would seek out Luke (well she already found him). You may not like what they did with secondary characters like Poe and Finn, and you make disagree with the Luke/Rey relationship, but I disagree that they did a 180.
  8. Speak for yourself. I really hate that I didnt get to see the ST, RO and Solo with my father. I really love that I get to experience the Star Wars movies with my kids. Some artificial 10 year wait so that BO is better is stupid. Someday I will get to watch a new Star Wars movie with my grandkids like my father did when the prequels came out. As long as they can keep the quality high (they have) I say keep them coming.
  9. I remember when conventional wisdom for sequels was that they generally took off right out of the box because people wanted to see whats next before spoilers got out and then dropped off much faster. Isnt that really what happened with TLJ opening weekend. The people that really cared after TFA got out and saw it right away. The people that saw TFA because it was 1st Star Wars in 10 years didnt rush out and maybe ever were like OK dont need to see this will wait for video.
  10. It really was about the female leads in TFA,RO, and TLJ and couple with that the fact Luke wasnt some Superman who came out and said stand aside ladies I have this.
  11. This all really started with Trump supporters started claiming RO was anti-Trump. They tried to have a quick boycott, but RO was just releasing so the effect wasnt as noticable. This made to mainstream places the the Colbert show, Newsweek, Wired, etc.. This just made that base more active with TLJ.
  12. I must have misread your post. Sorry. In the general my point was even if some people didnt like TLJ the film was high quality. While JL wasnt. Warner has done a horrendous job on the quality control for the DC films outside of WW. I for one loved TLJ and I have been a hardcore fan for 40+ years. So our my boys and they all liked (middle son) or loved TLJ. Funny little anecdote. My oldest shares his birthday with Star Wars (Maybe there is a god :)) and turned 23 yesterday. While heading home from seeing Solo for the 2nd time he stopped at McDonald's and no joke his receipt says "Order 66". He posted it on Reddit and it has 1.9k upvotes. If anyone cares the our favorite theater main screen which has 226 awesome leather reclining heated seats sold 121 tickets for the 12:30PM showing. Yesterday it sold 42. All the seats left were 1st couple rows and reserved for handicapped.
  13. Thats not the same thing. Just like a lot of people probably liked JL. Fact is TLJ was very high quality, you may not have liked the story. The fact is it was very high quality. Justice League was a mess that should have been delayed so that Joss Whedon could fix it. JL never could break out of the mode set all the way back in Man of Steel.
