  1. I think depending on how well Domee Shi's second feature does she could get a blank check of sorts.
  2. Domee Shi did say there could be a continuation of Turning Red but it's not what she's working on now. So that's very far in the future if it happens at all, but it is something I personally would like to see. Luca's director on the other hand kind of closed the door.
  3. Would have an inside out 2 made $480 m dom.anyways? Not sure. Course we don't know what it will make this year
  4. No because they don't really have sequel-able movies anymore. Used them up
  5. I predict it will maybe do mid 80s RT. I think it's possible that critics now are less favorable to Disney animated films now, whether WDAS or Pixar.
  6. A $350m dom hit would be amazing for Pixar at this point. So I am not sweating it.
  7. Yes people celebrate Easter in the USA and it affects the box office Even if Friday and Monday aren't off at school, family gatherings and easter baskets for the children are conmon
  8. A Paul Thomas Anderson movie making well over $1 billion?
  9. I think it should lean towards cheap Sure AMC used its investor money to install laser projectors and recliners in their theaters but I don't think it's doing it, quite. And the investor money is dried up now.
  10. To be honest I'm more worried about the exhibitors than the makers of the movies. I don't watch most movies but I do appreciate the opportunity to see anything in a cinema. But I don't know if many of the theaters can stay open...
  11. I guess since Luca is finally in theaters I can re-up this rudimentary analysis I did a while back: tl:Dr I think Soul, Luca, and Turning Red would make $500 WW each based on how they performed in the few markets they could back in the day.
  12. yeah all three of the movies are getting or already have released in many places around the world. I don't think they're doing much business though. I saw Turning Red in Japan barely chart at all.
  13. I only just recently listened to Billie Eilish's Barbie song "What Was I Made For?" and I really liked it.
  14. oh sure sure, yeah those movies would have done a lot better 10 years ago. Still we have the big budget cartoons which while they might have taken a hit, still can sell tickets.
  15. I was kind of concerned Luca would have done even worse this weekend seeing as Kung Fu Panda 4 was competition but apparently the Soul and TR level of performance is the floor.
  16. I think it's going to be more like $175m. Based on how this weekend will end and the multiplier going forward. 🤷‍♂️
  17. yeah it's impossible to judge the movie based on OW because COVID news was ramping up even then.
  18. That's a fine opinion to have but I think it's a little interesting how the narrative of "screwed over Pixar movies" generally overlooks Onward. I ultimately think in a non-COVID world Onward, Luca, and Turning Red would be in the $200 m Dom area. Dunno about Soul though. I've heard takes that Soul would have been another Inside Out and I really don't know about that... Also in real life Luca and TR could have been successes.
  19. You mean anything sub 90% isn't amazing. 🤔 I mean Brave and Cars made bank though. And WDAS Wreck-It Ralph also did.
