  1. Beauty and the Beast is pretty blah to me. I'm really not a fan of the story, really. One more thing about Zootopia, of course. I think it's the animated feature that Ralph Bakshi always wanted to make, but was never focused enough to do so. Knowing that two of his former proteges developed the movie backs this notion.
  2. I used to be even more obsessed with The Lion King than I am currently with Zootopia. But eh, I think Zootopia is much better as a film.
  3. It's Disney. It has a Princess. It has more girl appeal than anything. No questions. And lol at the thought that it could be a flop akin to Alice 2.
  4. In fairness, The Fast franchise got inexplicably bigger in every market.
  5. I finally got smart, and now I'm near the top 10. If only I hadn't overestimated Ghostbusters and underestimated Pets.
  6. Why does everyone keep on mentioning re-releases? Re-releases are fucking dead. 3-D is passe now. Maybe if they start making new MX-4D versions of movies, re-releases can be a thing.
  7. Zootopia is already in freaking redbox, man. And the Jungle Book is three months old. Funnily enough, Zootopia is in more theaters now than Alice 2, though.
  8. I think the Japanese audience views Dory as a kiddy movie, judging by evening sales. The same went for Zootopia at first, but it changed later on its run because of WOM for the original movie. I don't think people's perspectives on Dory are going to change.
  9. Oooh. It's definitely not passing Zootopia's total. It would need a 11x multiplier from its two-day opening. Not common for a sequel. 10. I don't think we should ever count Pixar out. Moviemaking is a volatile business. However, if the next sequels follow Finding Dory's path, it's not encouraging.
  11. Finding Dory's sampled admissions for Saturday fell under 140,000. Way below my target for ¥900m. 139,061*1.66*¥1330 = ¥307m total for Saturday. If it's lucky, it could rise around 30% on Sunday. 182,000*1.66*¥1330 = ¥402m for Sunday Two-Day total: ¥709m This puts passing Zootopia (¥7.56 billion) in question, as it would need a more than 10x multiplier. And hopes of crossing ¥10 billion are gone right now.
