Ah the discussing film guy. Well I just hope the final product is watchable. 🤷♂️
Pixar still hasn't released a bomb on the level of Strange World and Wish. 🤔
Just hope they can make more movies in the future.
OK so where do you get that 70% number from,
I'm actually a little surprised that the negative opinion on Disney from Conservatives is ONLY 30%. Though I don't know what specific issue you're talking about.
There were issues before lightyear, like with the controversy over funding Florida politicians, and the tempest in a teapot Turning Red. Then there was strange world. I ultimately don't believe that these are fatal to Disney's brand. Elemental had a lot of these elements, such as references to same sex couples, and it had a 5x mutli from its OW.
Ahh I was wondering when this was showing up. It was heavily weighted to the public lists I saw, includng mine. I projected maybe 1700 points from the sample I had but it had about half of that in the end.
I dunno where to put this because there is no thread for this movie but on March 6, there might be screenings of Robot Dreams in your area if you check.
@TwoMisfits
BTW Turning Red will have $5 tickets at AMC this coming weekend. Not as low as those Dreamworks/Illumination things with $2 tikeckts. Fewer showtimes than the past weekend. I wonder if it affects anything noticable in the numbers.
I know it's not much, but Turning Red did better than estimates, with actuals 8% higher than estimates. It did very well on SuperBowl Sunday, only declining 49% while most movies declined more than 60%. I think it proves that Turning Red would have been good as counterprogramming back in March 2022 when it was originally scheduled to be in theaters.
With the Pixar releases (Soul, Turning Red, Luca) being mostly duds in USA+Canada, I wonder how they'll do in Japan. I mean TR sold about 50,000 tickets on its OW, so how much could you possibly expect from Japan? 🤷♂️Also I don't see these movies listed on Japanese cinema websites quite yet. 🤔
I didn't mention goodwill to Pixar because there is a huge layoff going on there but yeah. Also if Elio kept its place these releases would not be happening.
Someone random on twitter asked why they would release these movies in theaters, and risk getting another black eye to its reputation. I think that it was just generally the right thing to do, and it was worth the roll of the dice. And I personally enjoyed these movies so yeah lol.
