yeah they've probably already decided by now that they're allowed to aim for an R. Ryan has way too much pull and involvement for them to try and cut it down. And Oppenheimer doing almost a billion with an R rating gives him a recent example to point to.

I think sometimes we are too hard on blockbuster screenwriters. They are being pulled in a million different directions. It's no wonder any blockbuster turns out good. Don't get me wrong, some writers are just not cut out for dealing with the director and studio stuff in the blockbuster realm. Chris Terrio, for instance, should never be allowed to get near another blockbuster screenplay after Batman v Superman and Rise of Skywalker.
Michael Waldron is still a question mark. Sure Multiverse of Madness screenplay sucked but it didn't suck enough for me to believe that he doesn't deserve another shot. Maybe he'll crush the Avengers movies? We'll see. They don't need a genius screenwriter, just one that can handle all of the blockbuster nonsense well enough.
literally we know from America chavez's actor how many times he had to rewrite MoM lol
he did a decent enough job considering the people above him had no idea what they wanted the story to be- 3

Transformers franchise completely collapsed without Bay. Overseas numbers aren't even a third of AoE or DotM, and only half of TLK. Domestic isn't even a third of of what it used to be. The sooner they can get Bay and the OG cast back on board, the sooner they can salvage this franchise.
ignoring the personal issues with Shia there's no way they'd ever get him back anyways with how much he's spoken against his time on those movies/his 00s blockbuster run in general
that just leaves Fox i guess and idk if she'd really move the needle that much, Duhamel and Tyrese definitely sure as hell aren't (they brought back the former in TLK and no one really cared) -

The word around town is that Spielberg won't work with him cause Cruise tried to spread Scientology on the set of War of the Worlds and it soured his opinion of him.
the rumor was they never collabed after because spielberg was turned off by the odd press stuff with Tom, but they seemed to have eventually reconciled, spielberg told a story about inviting tom to the Ready Player One set, and there was this recently

The worst part about this underperformance, and what scares me the most, is the fact that Part Two hasn't finished filming yet. What's stopping Paramount from panicking and ordering radical Josstice-style reshoots once these strikes end?
ignoring the Cruise of it what could they possibly want to reshoot lol we're not talking about Zack Snyder's particular controversial vision

It"s been implied in an Lord Miller interview with already this is being delayed they just need more time to work on it, im assuming no later than summer (Thunderbolts release date is probably free, could take that)

LOL I know people who have seen this and… wow people are going to HATE the ending.
Seriously, this is the closest to Devil Inside I’ve heard in a long time.
I mean the reason Devil Inside upset people in particular was simply because the studio added text after the last shot to promote their viral marketing site that audiences took as "go see the rest of the movie online". Otherwise it was a normal abrupt/vague ending not unlike some other found footage type movies- 1

JUne and July are stacked, but i don't see anything breaking out big. The Top movie will likely not do more than 400M.
Transformers has BOMB written all over it. What were Paramount thinking in making another one so soon?
what are you talking about, it's been 6 years since the last one lol

the review embargo lifted yesterday, 86% currently after 7 reviews
Quote"It's peak horror-comedy, much more American Werewolf in London than Bram Stoker's Dracula, and ultimately it's fun primarily because it doesn't commit too hard to any one thing." - Maggie Boccella, Collider
Quote"Renfield is more Raimi than Coppola… a horror comedy that does its best to do both genres proud. Renfield is a goofball gorefest that has way more martial arts action sequences than I would expect out of a Dracula adaptation." – Linda Codega, Gizmodo
Quote"It's a horror-comic orgy of gore, with any number of bad guys torn to pieces, but occasionally pauses for poignant moments about the life Renfield lost by submitting to his master and unusual spins on vampire lore." – Kim Newman, Empire Magazine

Does anyone have any idea on the expected MPAA rating on this, or just the general tone.
My oldest turns 10 next month, and, really wants to see this for his birthday party. I'd be okay if it's just him,but if I'm taking a bunch of 4th graders to a movie, I don't want to suddenly be explaining to the other parents why I took the kids to something maybe not the most appropriate.
I can't imagine its got anything too bad outside your typical Marvel film. I've tried suggesting Shazam as an alternative, and was met with a fierce no. The other kids all seem keen to see this as well.
Note, my kid has no experience with D&D prior to this. He just has liked the trailers. I'm not sure if that's any indication of potential reactions of other kids his age or not, but he's pretty locked in on this.
its definitely PG-13, Hasbro is pushing alot of toys for it

I would love to see Spielberg to collab with Tom Cruise again. I almost thought they had fallen out after War of the Worlds but learned recently Cruise would come in on the set of RPO to hangout so they seem to still be friends.

I rewatched Fast Five a few days ago and in that movie, The Rock still gives his best perfomance to date imo. Hes like a walking and shouting and driving bottle of Testosterone, but he plays the part seriously enough that it doesnt seem like hes a parody, which i feel like he has somewhat become in recent years. Dont get me wrong, i think hes likable and entertaining to watch, but the kind of raw energy that he omitted in Fast Five seems kind of gone.
I really enjoy the Fast movies but after 5 and 6, Hobbs stops being somewhat his own character and just becomes The Rock, more sillier and charming father guy
Pain and Gain is still Rock at his best imo, was hilarious as a coked out jesus freak criminal. Probably the last time i really liked Marky mark too- 5

Why are the right wing using this narrative? When have they ever been precious about black stories before? Lol.
They honesty cannot see shit going past them. One farts and the rest latch onto it.
Probably not. But another sequel is on the way regardless.
A24 must be making money on these films somewhere.

It's not exactly a new issue. Hell two late 1970s blockbusters in Superman and Star Trek The Motion Picture were worked/tinkered with up to the very end, to the point that both couldn't do test screenings (and TMP was particularly a nightmare with its VFX issues.) Its why both coincidentally decades later had their own "director's cuts" where the filmmakers went back and got a chance to fix certain editorial choices made by deadlines.
Of course one of them is a classic that every subsequent spandex movie has responded to while the other kickstarted an enduring film franchise, but not exactly considered top-tier of that series.
Return of the King was like finished like days before the world premiere iirc. Jackson didnt even get to see the finished film till there at the premiere. I remember a similar story with Transformers.
Of course recently we had a case with Cats where the movie was in wide release and wasnt finished and had to be "patched" lol- 1

But was dead last compared to the other superhero films that years. Critically panned Justice League out grossed it! I really do hope this is the last R-rated DCEU film because the franchise can’t afford anymore financial flops! This one is the third in a row (though with WW84 it’s understandable given the circumstances).
It was a hard R, gritty, sad, neo-western (not an action comedy like Deadpool) with no CGI setpieces or anything, it did amazing for what it is and comparing it to other cape movies that year doesn't make any sense. It's the 2nd highest grossing X-film, Deadpool movies excluded

I wonder how much this cost. I got the vibe from what they've said about the movie and the trailers themselves that this is a much much smaller budget and scale wise from the previous Joes and blockbusters in general, entirely focused on good choreography rather than big explosion cgi setpieces. If it cost under 100m i bet this could succeed with total numbers in line or slightly less than RoC/Retaliation and the franchise can continue, i hope it does, I have a childhood fondness for GI Joe and the Snake Eyes character

ARGYLLE| Matthew Vaughn| Henry Cavill, Samuel L. Jackson, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Sam Rockwell | February 2, 2023

Vaughn has stated that the trailer and various spots are primarily only showing footage from the first 28 minutes, it was his request and Uni/Apple rolled with it. I have read from reviews there's supposed to be some pretty fun action sequences they are hiding. I gotta give kudos to not giving everything away even if that might be hurting marketing a bit since they can really only be showing the same footage.
