  1. And Vol.2 increased much less than others MCU sequels. Groot is cute in first one.
  2. Guardians' Xmas special is below 7 on IMDB. It has more to do with them than some other films. And No Way Home was widely liked. Spiderman and Batman are still the biggest superheroes by a mile.
  3. they all had special characters that increased their openings. as you said Guardians are just Guardians with Groot not looking cute for the first time
  4. may be fans of Guardians overhyped their appeal. the second movie did just a little bit better than the first one. there is a ceiling. and considering second movie was not as good as the first one which was great, and special was "special", here we are.
  5. lol who cares. if you chose any other animated fims from Pixar/Disney from recent years you would have an argument but those 3 are certified future classics, Encanto was played like a concert film already, it's a classic. It saved Disney+ when it was released there.
  6. it was always like this on Lucasfilm youtube channel, so not specifically for this lol
  7. because Jacob Tremblay should have been nominated & won, sorry Leo. His career is fine even though he mostly does voice overs
  8. more like Superbowl is the male event of the year while Little Mermaid is the total opposite of it. It would be a waste of money. I think Oscars will be more suitable.
  9. yeah, it's a funny thing. I think Soul had huge BO potential in USA but I think Encanto, Luca & Turning Red will have more longevity in the end no matter BO. Just look at Moana & it's small BO compared to some other animation hits.
  10. tbh we don't know. Little Mermaid is the first remake from the big 4 where they change the main character. How much their success is based on being as similar as possible to the original we'll see with her cause it should be easily doing a billion cause Little Mermaid arguably is only less popular than Lion King but we'll see. At least it's still a musical(cough cough Mulan)
  11. in what world? I would say the opposite problem is true - Strange World has some weird unappealing faces on all main characters compared to the usual Disney animation. I haven't seen the film yet (and I bet I'll like it enough) but it's a choice. And Wish just from previews already looks great - both the main character & the goat.
  12. I think they've already been made that they don't rush. Yes, there are Star Wars films in development but they don't have a specific date for them.
  13. Pixar just had Luca & Turning Red. I think they'll stand the test of time. And Disney clearly has some b-team working on these non musical projects & they are too safe, they should try something radical with these cause like what's the point then. I understand that probably not everybody wants to make musical animated films but then at least have some cool ideas for your stuff or don't try it.
  14. I like most of Disney's animation films but this film looks unappealing. May be it'll be some hidden gem(I remember how I was first not into Moana at all) we'll see.
  15. they need someone with ideas at the head of their live-action division. it always struggled but still. I blame in part the last Bob for this, so if this Bob can find such person he'll leave a good legacy.
  16. whispers - I'm all for banishing famous actors from voice overs. I was recently watching some animated movie and the main guy's voice sounded so familiar & not right for the character (it was Will Arnett) so honestly I hope it's true lol.
  17. or we can just look at average box office of the most popular film of the last several years Moana and super beloved & praised Coco
  18. I remember how I didn't like the Moana songs before the film and even the movie was just Ok on first watch and then I loved it on rewatch. So far I really like the songs, they are cute & inventive. Will Lin-Manuel be the next Alan Menken? Or is he already?
  19. the question is if they wanna make this a full on musical they need someone who can sing
  20. He's too old. They need someone younger. They honestly need to just find some unknown for this role too. It worked for the best in Aladdin.
  21. I think a lot depends if the writers of Greatest Showman & Speechless will make a musical out of a simple fairy tale. It will practically be a new musical then. I think musical component is a big appeal of renaissance Disney.
