Guys. The problem is that Deadpool is on digital HD now. So people are too busy watching it right now instead of going to the theaters.

I saw it in front of CW as well. I didn't get any laughs per se but people were making jokes about Blake Lively in a bikini for 2 hours so there's that. Maybe that's what Sony is banking on. Who knows. On a side note the trailer has gotten more hits than I thought it would on social media. On the official Twitter page it has 18K retweets and 32K likes which is way more than I thought it would ever get. Also a few other Twitter pages tweeted the trailer saying "it looks so intense" or something and those also have thousands of retweets and likes. On Facebook on its official page it has 133K likes and 85K shares. I don't know if people are retweeting/liking because they're interested or because they think it looks trash or because Blake Lively is in a bikini. I guess I'm over thinking it but I didn't think this movie had a strong presence at all to warrant that much activity via social media.

7/10 for me. Certainly not the best Marvel movie to date. I enjoyed Winter Soldier more. Not the best super hero movie that came out this year either, in my opinion. However, it's a very entertaining movie that the audience is going to eat up. I expect big big numbers. Over $200M OW is happening in my eyes for sure.

Yea I have it doing 25/70M and I feel like Sony feels like it can also be a sleeper hit. It has the trailer playing before CW. If it knew it was going to be garbage or something I think they would have put another one of its movie in there instead.

I think it'll give it a chance to actually apeal to people instead of opening against Independence Day and having it become an after thought. If it's a good movie, it's going to do business regardless especially in the summer.

Saw this last night...I will never understand how a director can have such a talented cast and do so little with them. It's a shame because this movie had the potential to be very great and yet it's all wasted. PS Ryan Reynolds is literally in it for like 10 minutes...so if you were expecting something because you're a fan, don't even bother going. I won't even add this to his list of flops because he's like an extra in the movie.

I'm personally not surprised. After reading the script I knew that if they brought it to life properly, it would be a fantastic film. I can't wait to see the new trailer! Btw I saw that they were doing reshoots for the film...except because Blake is pregnant (so I'm sure they weren't planned reshoots or maybe they were) and she was wearing more clothes than what the trailer shows so I wonder how that's going to look like in the film.

I think The Shallows will be a hit that no one expects. Once the trailer dropped, it received more buzz than I thought it would. And having read the script...it's a very very good script. If it's done right, The Shallows should be a very good movie that people will go watch to counter all the big budget films coming out.

I could have sworn this thread was locked not too long ago because people, myself included, kept arguing about profit and numbers. I left and came back and people are STILL arguing about profit and numbers. This thread is CRUMBLING. Like BvS box office run.

You have to have some sort of vendetta against the mods.

$800M is $50M more than $750M. Try again. But since BvS is going to end at $850-$870M it's only going to make between $50-70M for WB...again I'm sure that's exactly what they were expecting when they spent all this money and marketing for this film. And again give me Deadpool, GOTG and DOFP over this as a studio exec.

Provide a source and a link otherwise you're just making up numbers to fit your narrative. In fact I know it's such because WB has never even put out a number. No studio does that. However its been stated numerous times by various sources that this movie needs to at least make $900M WW some even saying $1B to make a profit from its theatrical run. And even if $750M is the break even point, WB would make $100M-$120M off of this. I'm sure that's what they were expecting when they spent all this money on production and marketing.

It's going to end at $850M WW. It's not a failure but it sure as hell isn't a success either. According to Deadline it needs $925m WW to make a minimum profit and it's not even going to come close to that. Give me GOTG, DOFP and Deadpool over BvS if I am a studio exec. At least I'll have made bank with those three movies.

Deadpool cost $58M to make, didn't have China or 3D and was rated R. Deadpool will always win this battle. Please stop. GOTG has Marvel's C-list characters whom no one knew about before the movie came out and opened to less than $100M domestically and still went onto make $780M WW. Again please stop. BvS opened to $420M WW and is just now cracking $750M WW after it's third weekend. So please please stop.

BvS made $420M WW it's opening weekend and by its third weekend it won't have crossed $800M and it'll struggle to get past $850m WW...meaning it made half of its money in just three days and then had a free fall. Trust me it's not killing him anymore than its killing me. The numbers speak for themselves.

I mean I've always thought that WOM can be analyzed by how well a movie's legs are. Bad legs=bad WOM. Good legs=Good WOM. But apparently there's a new system in place that people are using now.
