  1. Entgroup has IW at $54.95 million for Sunday, and $202.73 million for the OW. Thu $9.35 m Fri $60.89 m Sat $77.54 m (adjusted down by about $2m from the initial figure) Sun $54.95 m $202.73 m
  2. Is this site accurate? It says $79.67 million Saturday for IW in China, and a cume of $149.73 million (just up-ticked a few seconds ago, BTW). entgroup If so, a SAT-SUN drop of less than 37% would mean a $200 million weekend.
  3. Disappointing? This film is on track to earn TWO-THIRDS OF A BILLION DOLLARS IN PROFIT. On an investment of $450 million. BTW, the US corporate tax rate has been cut from 35% to 21%. And the effective rate will be even lower. The Mouse is roaring.
  4. China Box Office: 'Avengers: Infinity War' Crushes Presales Records [The Hollywood Reporter] 9:42 AM PDT 5/9/2018 by Patrick Brzeski Marvel Disney's Avengers: Infinity War is revving up to make a massive start in the Chinese film market, the world's second-biggest box-office territory. The mega-tentpole had notched $47.5 million (RMB 302 million) in presales as of late Wednesday night in Beijing. With a full day to go before the local release Friday, Infinity War has set a new all-time ticket presales record in China, surpassing the estimated RMB 300 million (about $47 million at today's exchange rate) earned by Edko Film's Monster Hunt 2 during the lead-up to Chinese New Year in January. Infinity War also handily crushed Hollywood's record for presales in China — Universal's Fate of the Furious was the prior record holder with an estimated $25 million (RMB 158 million) in 2017.
  5. I just realized that round 1 of the NFL draft starts at 8 PM on Thursday, April 26th, which might cut into IW preview sales in the US. I have tickets to IW on Thursday, but might decide to wait until Friday to see it. Last year the NFL draft opening round drew a combined 9.2 million viewers. Not a huge number of viewers, but the temporal factor (people want to watch live as their team makes its selections, to see where players end up, and see what trades are made) means many people (guys in particular) won't be content to just record the draft for later viewing. Rounds 2-3 of the draft are Friday starting at 7 PM, and the draft concludes Saturday at noon.
  6. Doctor Strange grossed $677 million WW (and made an estimated $122 million in profit) in his first at bat. Of course they're going to favor him over Hawkeye.
