  1. I'm probably going to end up buying a ticket for Rock Dog (and The Shack) :sarah:

If you are part of Regal Club, apparently I got auto-enrolled into some Lionsgate thing since I watched JW2 in Regal (and yes, I plan to watch Power Rangers).  Basically, if you watch all four, you get digital copies of the movies when they come out (I want JW2...) along with extra bonus points (and a free popcorn after your 3rd movie).  So, IF i purchase tickets on a Tuesday matinee for the other 2 ($5)...I'm looking at $10 for Digital Copies of all four (or basically just JW2...and hopefully Rangers is good).  Maybe I can sell the codes for the other 2 on ebay or something.

  2. So saw a youtube video via Hashtag Show that Dani is already casted, but they still are looking for Sam, Rahne, Illyna, and Robert.  I hope Fox locked up Anya Taylor Joy, because with Split's success, success of Witch (BAFTA rising star nom, Gotham award winner), she probably could ask for a little more $$$.

Still, with ATJ comments in the last year (seeing the Demon Bear short, almost confirming McAvoy being in the movie, etc), following/liking Josh Boone's New Mutants/Magik post on IG, it would be very odd if she wasn't signed yet.

Are Karma and Magma going to be in this film?

I hope that they tweak the story a little just so Mirage doesn't spend most of the film incapacitated in a hospital bed; I would hate if the first major First Nations character in a superhero movie is pretty much rendered useless and has to be "saved" by her mostly white teammates. Especially after Suicide Squad 's Slipknot scene, this would be a quite problematic scenario as far as I am concerned.

Unlikely, if they are probably small/cameo roles.  It's the 5 mentioned above plus apparently Warlock (which w/o Doug is eh).  Anymore than those 6 will be too many IMO.  I could do without Warlock (plus I figured him being CGI will add to the budget, unless he appears in the end?).  I figure if its a success they can do add Karma and Magma, and do Nova-Roma/Selene in the sequel.

  4. Eh, I don't care to much that he doesn't look too much like the character, I'm just afraid they will try to make him a lead.  I'm not a fan of the actor fro what I've seen (granted like 3 movies).  We will see how he does on Death Note.

Assuming its Demon Bear, leads should be Dani (hopefully they find a talented, charasmatic NA actress) and likely Magik (Anya Taylor Joy).

It seems like Boone is a huge fan of the comics, would be nice to Sunspot be Afro-Brazilian (or a black actor).  Marvel is the one that seems to have white-washed (probably not the correct term), but he went from a black kid to a light skin Brazilian in recent comics.

There was an interview a while back during XA with McAvoy where he says an actress signed on for NM was telling him all these things about the movie (he wasn't aware).  I believe or hope that was Anya Taylor telling him about it during filming of Split.

Didn't Josh Boone turn in 2 drafts?  Are they rewriting/fixing his script?

Anyway, Anya Taylor Joy commented on the rumors of her casting at IGN.  Also, a few months back James McAvoy in an interview said he talked to another actress signed up for it and she was telling him all this info about New Mutants (and he co-stars with Joy in Split).

  6. Might be seeing this tomorrow if I have time.  I signed up/got passes for both this and Me Before You (lol) tomorrow.  However, the theater showing this is like 30 minutes away + traffic would add another 20 minutes, where as Me Before You is only like 15 mins away.  Ugh.   Really enjoyed the first one.

Edit: Damn, didn't realize Me Before You was today...lol.  And I actually was free/had time.

x-men's 8.2 is not bad going by the expectations. wolvie makes a big difference always.

on the flip side, wolvie or no wolvie, this has a similar/slightly higher budget and so needed to make bigger numbers if it had to be as profitable as dofp.

Well, the new reported budget is 178M, which seems rather low, but that 234M reported earlier seems way to high.  Without Jackman and the old actors in this taking up the salary, I definitely think it's cheaper than DOFP.  The FC actors signed 3 picture deals, so its not like they are paying JLaw 10+ million.  Oscar shouldn't be making that much either.   The so-called destruction porn isn't even that much, so I don't know where the budget went if it was 220M+.  They filmed in Canada, so should be cheaper as well.

If CW had a 250M budget with RDJ getting 40M, Scarlett getting probably 10M+ and Evans at least 5M, 15M+ for the remaining actors, I think its possible it was this cheap.

  8. Hmm, just checked it, it's not great.  But for some reason, the one I just checked showed the Marvel Studios logo.    Maybe it's not "up" on kodi yet.  Lol.

But from what I've seen from past movies, most great quality rips are from China (or maybe HK).

You in NorCal? I have passes for screenings in San Francisco (Century San Francisco Center) and Santa Clara (AMC Mercado) tomorrow. Might try to make it if possible and if work permits.

Yeah, but in Sacramento (UA Arden).  It's only a 15 minute drive, so I'll definitely check it out.  I've never been to any of these type of early screenings minus BvS (which was only 2 days earlier), so I'm not sure of the wait.

  10. Just signed up for an advanced screening tomorrow.  Hopefully I'll be able to get in.  The theater is close by enough, so hopefully there isn't some long ass line otherwise, I won't see it.

I truly think piracy will affect this more than it has for any movie thus far.  We are at the peak of accessible piracy.  You do not even have to download.  Just click and watch.  There are so many lazy, impassioned, broke and depressed people in America.  Perhaps one will see it once, and then do repeat viewings with free HD-online.  Previously, they would have spent over 50 dollars with the first Avengers.  This pirated movie probably has the highest pirated word of mouth.  I believe their are large communities in populated areas in America where the HD-rip is being recommended and discussed.  However, a good portion of these people might never pay for a movie so you should take that into account.  Regardless, there is damage and long term damage from less repeat viewings.

Yup.  I know at least 50 people/families that probably have a firestick/kodi.  It's so ridiculous easy to watch movies at home now.  Probably 80% of those people have no idea what a torrent is.

I am just confused. Why would it have a worse 2nd weekend drop than IM3 and AOU with a much better WOM? It should be more front loading than CA:WS, but as front loading as or even more front loading than IM3 and AOU? :what:

I am believing that piracy is hurting CW significantly. The day to day drop was good until the high quality version hit internet. That's like the only logical reason I can think of right now. :sadben:

You know, Kodi has gotten VERY VERY popular.  I actually think it might have hurt it.  I've only watched it twice in the theaters (3D and IMAX).  I'm not going to lie, probably won't pay for it a 3rd time IF I feel like watching it again.
