I know the chances are .001%, but I really hope Swiss Army Man gets nominated for something. Anything.
-
I know it's animation and usually doesn't matter much, but could the celebrity heavy voice cast make much of a difference?

Anyone have any guess what the theater drop for SLOP might be? Nine Lives is surprisingly hitting over 2,000 theaters.
-
Although I'm happy for their success, it's kind of depressing to think that SLOP will likely top Inside Out and Zootopia domestically. At least WW numbers tell a different story.

A baby would be another idea since a baby takes away attention from the dogs and they try and get rid of it and get lost, which is the plot of The Rugrats Movie
Or Max and Gidget have a kid that gets lost (at the pound most likely) and the gang reemerges to find him/her. If it worked for Finding Nemo it'll probably work for them. One step closer to becoming discount Pixar.

Why do I have a feeling the entire plot is going to focus around the owners moving to a new city. Something like the culturally opposite city of Los Angeles... wait, I might be thinking of Bolt.

Green Room was pretty damn awesome!
I hope the film performs well and finally throws Jeremy Saulnier into the mainstream. Honestly, I thought Blue Ruin was lacking in substance, but Green Room proved Saulnier to be a proficient director in the suspense thriller genre (David Fincher is still the king of course, but he needs a successor).

The movies are not being released or made by Sony so they don't care.
The Sly Cooper movie will obviously get cancelled.
Strange that Sony isn't really involved.
Wouldn't it be a bit too late to cancel Sly Cooper? It's slated to come out later this year, so its gotta be nearly finished, right?
-
I wonder if Ratchet and Clank's under performance will affect how Sony markets the Sly Cooper movie. That franchise is even more out of touch with today's audiences.

I could see this as a sleeper hit. It's something action oriented yet refreshingly grounded in comparison to all the high-tech glitzy summer blockbusters. Plus, American Hustle showed that people love a 70s asthetic.

The Ruble is shit mainly because of Vladimir Putin's horrible decisions. How much money Zootopia can make is a trifling concern compared to what Russia is facing right now.
Certianly. From Western sanctions induced by Crimea to military spending in Syria to radically dropping oil prices, Russia is in a heck of a bind. Even Saudi Arabia is atttempting to diversify its economic output from oil alone.
-
Makes sense. Shame about the exchange rate though, especially regarding Russia. If the ruble was fairing better then $1 billion would be a lot more certain.

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know why Zootopia's numbers in Latin America aren't as strong as other recent animated hits (Inside Out)? Is it mainly because Zoo was released in the Spring?

It's actually refreshing to watch a film without a subtextual cynical tone. It's simply a clear and thus powerful tale of humble heroism. Personally, I thought it was better than Flight.
Plus, the cinematography on the Alexa 65 6K Imax camera is amazing. Do watch in IMAX. It is worth it.
