WGA/SAGAFTRA Strike Discussion Thread | SAG Ratifies Contract
Dothezelda101 replied to Eric Atreides's topic in The Speakeasy
Yeah by the looks of it, One Piece is gonna be a massive streaming hit for Netflix. Considering how big it could be, a part of me is wondering whether Netflix would be more willing to agree to a deal just so they could get started on season 2 (assuming it really does as well as they say). In combination with the whole situation with Stranger Things 5’s cast, I could see those two reasons motivating Netflix to bite the bullet and make deals. That is of course assuming the studios in the AMPTP break off and make their own deals (which I’m still VERY doubtful of even taking into account the deadline piece, but then again I thought there wasn’t going to be a SAG strike so what do I know lol) -
Eh, I’ll believe it when I see it. I can’t imagine Iger would ever approve of that considering he was the reason Pixar is under the Disney umbrella in the first place, and why the studios stayed separate after the purchase. If the two merge, he’d basically be admitting defeat at that point and would irreparably damage his own legacy. Doubt he’d want to be known as the Disney CEO that both acquired and dissolved Pixar. More likely he’d just bring new management into the studio and cut their budgets tbh (Would be very ironic if WDAS studio heads are brought in to help revive Pixar considering the reverse happened after the buyout lol). And that’s not even to mention the distinct work cultures the two studios have and the large backlash they’d face from their own employees from a merge, something that scared the company off from seriously considering a merge in the first place. I mean it’s possible it could under another CEO if the flops keep coming, but with sequels like Inside Out 2 and Toy Story 5 and Incredibles 3 being more likely than not to hit well enough with audiences, I think there’s enough reason to keep the studios separate even considering the Disney+ effect and the recent bombs of Lightyear and Elemental (probably).

I have no life... SITCOM: Everybody Hates Ethan Premise: The kids at BOTville are trying to hook up Ethan with the super cool fly girls around the block. He tries to slay the girls with his knowledge of Monster Trucks, Logan's weekend multiplier, and GO's legs, but he just doesn't know how to talk to them properly. Although miraculously, Gokira has been downing in puss juice by saying that Rogue One was NOT AN EVENT and talked relentlessly about Kong bombing. Even worse, the big bad grownups at the nursing home are trying to spoil they're fun with some orange BANG, Dum Dum lollipops, and complaining about the Weinsteins. They don't have much time, since filmlover wants them back at nine for the daily Octavia Spencer savior ritual, so they must act fast or else!
