The Box Office Buzz, Tracking, and Pre-Sale Thread
Arlborn replied to Shawn Robbins's topic in Box Office Discussion
I'm still very bullish on it and always have been even before any reviews came out simply because it is a movie that I think will work well for the GA. But Free Guy has always been one of the most used comps for it, as well as The Lost City and Bullet Train. -
He's already done the predictable joke!* * unless you were talking about him probably using this joke on every post on this thread, which. seems likely now that I think about it

Not enough people care about this to do that I think. It was mostly kids and families I bet. I watched it with my family this weekend, my youngest loved it, we adults thought it was just fine. Then we visited my parents and they were watching it as well with my nephew, they all thought it was just fine as well.

Holy negativity Batman, are you OK? So much hatred seeping through here, I honestly sometimes worry about people who write negative stuff like that on the internet in a frequent manner. I know it's just about movies which theoretically in the grand scheme of things is just silly unimportant stuff, but I can't imagine being so vehemently negative about something and being OK in life you know? But that's probably just me I guess. I'm sure I'm just over-analyzing stuff as usual

Expectations etc etc rehash of the last few pages etc etc Ask 3 years ago if this making 435M would please them and WB executives would be really disappointed with it. Ask these same executives 6 months ago and they'd probably be quite pleased with this figure all things considered. it is what it is. It actually feels like this was always going to be big on streaming. It's the type of big silly stuff that some people would decide to skip on theaters but catch on streaming I guess.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire | March 22, 2024

It's certainly a bit better than Afterlife, but they're both quite forgettable. -
This is good. They really ought to acknowledge more that it makes no sense at all that in the whole universe only the Jedi and the Sith(both sides of the same coin/group basically) would have a monopoly over the entire force. It has never made much sense, and as was said in the interview, even the lore doesn't support that idea, and yet every "main" movie leans on this idea. It doesn't make sense to narrow your possibilities so much, so it's good that they continue to expand on other force users.

THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE | 04.19.2024 | Lionsgate

I thought this was set in the 1940s, not the 2010s. -
This sums it up to me. Villain being lame is just something the public seems to be getting really tired of nowadays though. She was almost a black hole of charisma any time she was on the screen, she felt like a Walmart version of the GOTG villain, and that guy had already sucked. It wasn't just lame, it was super lame, sadly. Kamala really did save the movie.

This actually looks like a decent John Wick ripoff. It really doesn't remind me all that much of the original though, so viewers will mostly just reject it I predict. I'll probably enjoy it in a Nobody sort of way though; a forgettable Wick clone, which I guess does sound a bit offensive to the original's legacy. Also, did they really have to make him look like Letto's Joker? I guess this look is just in vogue at the moment or something?

12% would be the exact same increase Logan and The Batman had on their second Tuesday, funnily enough. They really are good comps for this movie so far.
