No matter what Endgame made, Avatar's run will always be far more impressive (and I LOVE both films, Avatar has the edge though), it opened at 241M WW, 241 MILLION ONLY ! And it managed to make its way to 2.75 billion + (without rerelease). Endgame opened at 1.2 BILLION ! and will either fall short of Avatar or barely pass it. I mean, this is crazy.

Well , that's just your opinion.

  2. I think the total admissions in developing countries will make sure EG can balance or even surpass the disadvantage that EG has from Avatar in Europe , Australia , Japan and others.

    Here's my country's example:

    Check out @bicaraboxoffice’s Tweet: https://twitter.com/bicaraboxoffice/status/1080001684829462528?s=09

That was the 2018 all time admissions. Avatar doesn't make it and Going by that the lowest is 3.951M admissions. Let's say Avatar miss it very slightly with 3.95M. EG has 11M and that's already 7M advantage from my country alone. And you can add another countries like Malaysia , Singapore , Thailand , Phillipines and the rest of LA where EG became the 1st movie ever in the region despite the ER.

  3. Just saw Aladdin and Damn... How could you, Guy Ritchie... How could you.. Pretty much an epic comeback from all the bad buzz that surrounded it before release. Loved it!!!! WOM is overwhelmingly good if not great here in Indonesia based on 3 audiences review site ( side note : for all this site and app , only ticket buyers can review it so pretty useful , neutral and trustworthy )

    1. TIX ID : 9.3 from 26.6k votes , second best only behind EG with 9.6 ( the audience review in this app only has been launched Since a month ago tho )

    2. Cinepoint : 8/10 , again second only from EG 9/10. Hard to judge using this app considering many movies sit at 8 and this app only uses integers like 1/10 , 2/10 , 3/10 and so on.. ( only been launched since a month ago also. )

    3. BookmyShow : 4.8/5 from 212 votes ( still early and could change easily ). Similar  to EG.

  4. At first I thought Avatar was shit and I was hoping the sequel to flop , crash and burn. But that changed about 2 months ago , when Disney bought Fox including Avatar. Disney opened my eyes about Avatar. Now I live gladly to see Avatar 2 breaking all those records. Go Avatar 2. And now I owe Disney for all their kindness to finally opened my eyes and introduces me to a whole new world. Disney is love. Disney is Life. Hail Disney.

  5. I’m glad and happy for Aladdin not only because it gross much better than expected after those atrocious trailer , marketing and Weird Genie drama but also because audiences after all of that loved it. Very very few movie with all those problems succeed to overcome it and became successful in both terms of business and quality.

    No it can't, you're right.

I absolutely do not intend to deny that MCU is world's biggest franchise, and what MCU has been able to do is nothing short of amazing. I'm only narrowly focusing on defending Avatar's single film run, which is constantly being underestimated, belittled and even ridiculed over the years. To see the same thing happening here is a little disheartening.

edit: wait, is that what you're saying? I don't really understand that sentence to be honest....

Edited it to the right one. I was typing too fast.

I also want to point out that Box office wise, there are lots of things Avatar achieved that Endgame will not be able to achieve,  despite its own impressive achievement.

    1. Defeating the previous worldwide all time record by 50%

         - Endgame will likely not hold the crown, if it does, then it will be by less than 1% after 10 years

    2. Holding all time domestic box office crown record

         - something that's always good to have when you try to claim global crown, both Titanic and            Avatar did it, but endgame isn't anywhere close to TFA.

    3. Holding Domestic + Worldwide + OS crown at the time

         - The only crown Endgame can get right now is worldwide, and even that is a stretch, even something like Jurassic            Park was able to get worldwide + OS crown,

    4. Highest grossing film in a large number of world major markets (Domestic, China, UK, Australia, France, Germany etc...)

          - Endgame will be the highest grossing film in like... Mexico?  It is not topping Overseas, domestic, China, France,              UK, Germany or Australia.... becoming the "highest grossing film" without being the highest grossing film in any             major markets.

    5. Raising global box office ceiling, without Avatar's 3D and instant popularization of premium showing, most blockbusters today can't gross what they do without Avatar popularizing 3D to such an extent.

    6. Destroy perceived market ceiling and elevate the Chinese market to almost surpassing domestic as the largest global market. Tripled the highest grossing film in China ever when released. Unleashing the potential of a huge market that has gigantic effect on Hollywood and film industry today.

-Endgame couldn't match the highest grossing film China (Wolf Warrior 2), let alone tripling it.

    7. First film to ever hit 2 Billion dollar milestone (when no film has gotten there yet), and it almost got to $3B, in 2009.

          - Endgame won't hit another major milestone like that.

Anybody can think of more, welcome to add to my list. I'm tired now so these are the only things I can think but there must be a lot more!;)

Avatar can't be the first franchise to gross over $2B back to back in the span of 1 year.

    >The Confidence Man JP is aiming to repeat atop the weekend box-office, and it's likely to do so. The film adaptation of the Fuji TV Comedy surprised last weekend and had some good weekdays, and pre-sales today suggest it'll have a strong second weekend hold as well. All of this is evidence of the film is going to have a nice run, and it'll likely keep a strong presence at the box-office until early/mid-July.

    >Aircraft Carrier Ibuki is a bit of a dark horse and has a slight chance of surprising and taking the #1 spot. The rescue drama features a renowned cast and good reviews. Independent distributor Kino Films certainly has confidence it, too, given their aggressive marketing and release strategy (332 theaters is a lot for this distributor). Ultimately, I think it'll fall short of the top spot, but it'll have a respectable debut that Kino Films will be satisfied with. Look for this one to potentially have some strong legs.

    >Pokemon: Detective Pikachu appears like it's coming back down from the boost it seemed to receive from previously weary moviegoers, but it's still holding well. The last two weeks suggested it could have easily exceed the ¥3 billion milestone, and while it'll still get there, it'll finish just barely above that mark again. Overall, this may still be viewed as "disappointing" in the market, but the ¥3/3.5 billion mark is where the recent films in the animated franchise have landed, so I'd consider it a modest success. It could have been much less rather than much more.

    >Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire, Avengers: Endgame, and Kingdom will all continue to better their already excellent performances, with all three films still on track to reach their final milestones of ¥9 billion, ¥6 billion, and ¥5 billion, respectively. All three are above and beyond performers and should find themselves a spot on the Yearly Top 10 list.
