Yep, seems like that's the title. You can go ahead and update this.
The OS share of IA4 was absolutely ludicrous. More than 80% of its Worldwide total was overseas. Just imagine what will happen when China hits the scene.
If Inside Out came out last year, though, it probably would have been the highest grossing film. It coupd very well be 7th this year. Just goes to show how insane the box office is nowadays.
I'd be shocked if IO made less than $15m next weekend. It seems to have enough of an audience and strong enough WOM to reach beyond kids. MU was in a much worse position, it certainly didn't help that a new Disney film came out the same day.
That's disappointing.
I've kind of suspected that we might be crazy overestimating this film. I think the franchise peaked already. Final prediction is probably about $103m/$328m.
Inside Out will win pretty much every weekday this week, but no doubt Minions will make it struggle for the rest of its run. It and JW will probably continue to llay against each other for a while.
Most family films didn't do very well Thursday to Sunday. I think Inside Out and Max are going to have very strong holds throughout the weekdays this week. IO will be around MU's total around Thursday, actually.
It shouldn't have to, really. It's going to be at about $555-560m by the end of the weekend, and coming of a weekend in the high 20s, another 40m will be no struggle to make.
I am seeing it again tomorrow, maybe I'll warm up to the short a bit more. It didn't blow me out of the water (no pun intended), but it's still perfectly enjoyable. I don't get reason for the vehement hatred Some people have for it.
Hulk still hasn't seen Inside Out, though. Hulk needs to get on that ASAP.
Even without the bullshit hypocrisy and general ugliness of the film's thematic structure, it would have been an agressively mediocre blockbuster either way.
I get why the finale may save face, but it's fan service taken to a cringy level. At least Tomorrowland's final act tried to convey something.
Give Inside Out the holds of Ice Age 3 and that's about $30.3m. Give Jurassic World the holds of Transformers 2 and that's $27.8m.
Honestly a pretty blah weekend.
Looking at most of these numbers, we've hit a weekend where Fourth of July seriously deflates movies. Even with Minions opening, most films should have relatively smaller drops.
