  1. A certain someone had 'Dune' at $13M but that was 12 hours ago. I am guessing Deadline was projecting something like 13 + 17 + 11 to get to their early $41M number? That would be a 50% hold. I think it can do better than that.
  2. Really good numbers for 'Dune' but I don't think you can make any type of "Part One" comparisons. It was during the pandemic and also a day/date release on HBO Max. We have no clue what the first one would have done under normal circumstances.
  3. Tough comparison there. Wasn't FNAF also released on Peacock the week it came out? I expect Dune Part 2 to have a nice opening but better legs. I think there will be some repeat viewings and maybe more importantly, there is nothing on the calendar that's going to eat into it. It has a great release date.
  4. Even if Phillips/Phoenix cost a lot more this time around (and throw in Lada Gaga) I still don't see how a movie that's likely going to be in rooms with very little action set pieces is costing $200M. But I think it will be profitable regardless.
  5. I have a feeling this will be a big hit but also very polarizing. It's going to be a shitstorm of bad takes from all comers.
  6. Denis has never made a bad film. I'm really hyped. I agree with others that Part One is definitely better and better on rewatch.
  7. It's a sequel to a now defunct franchise, They didn't market it. They dumped it and left it to die... and it's going to do well over $400M worldwide. Over 2x the gross of Shazam 2, The Marvels, Blue Beetle and way more than The Flash as well.
  8. What part of "it's going to break even" are you missing? It's actually going to break even unlike a lot of other 'blockbusters' from 2023.
  9. Aquaman 2 looks like it's locked for $120M and $400M worldwide. Not a terrible result all things considered.
  10. By the way, there's posts about BvS bombing in this very thread nearly 8 years after it came out and that movie was actually profitable. There's always going to be discussion about movies that changed the course of history and I think 'The Marvels' qualifies for that. It's the moment where comic book movies stopped being THE thing...
  11. Disney thought they knew what women wanted and proved they know less about women than a 40-Year Old Virgin.
  12. I consider myself a diehard 'Mean Girls' fan and I have very little interest. I don't understand why this exists. But I'm happy that it's starting out well.
  13. This could get ugly now that you mentioned Disney. For some reason this poster wants Disney and WB to have had "equal years" when it's just not the case.
  14. 'Aquaman 2' is going to get fairly close to the break even point. Not many people predicted that after it was left for dead.
  15. There would be a trade off though as well. I think when it's all said and done Aquaman 2 will actually make them some money.
  16. Sydney Sweeney is a huge star. Most of the cast of 'Euphoria' is. That show was wild and it grabbed the attention of kids and adults.
