  1. Now I’m worried @Porthos might simply go nova from squeedom. Dug the season, thought it was very fun and nailed the tone nearly perfectly. Couple of very minor spoilers where I laughed out loud:
  2. Briefly delurking to say the trailer is great and so is the movie. I hope it gets a wonderful reception this fall.
  3. Hugs to you, @Eric Wonka, and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone here. Hopefully 2024 is a wonderful, enriching, and joyful year for us all.
  4. I don’t think this is true at all. Or of any director, really. What a studio is willing to pay is on the studio, not the individual.
  5. I mean I loves me some Scorsese but he’s gotten 200m+ to make his last couple period pics. Is 95m really that “shockingly big”?
  6. What a bunch of sad, puerile trash. Drag that take back to the 18th century and then sit in your sad puddle and think things over.
  7. The reason why I’m optimistic is if it slides into November, it’s likely to not end until January (the town basically closes down from Thanksgiving to New Years, more or less), and that would be extremely brutal on the studios.
  8. In terms of Sheridan, it’s a relatively open secret that he had his assistants and coordinators help out with the writing (not credited of course).
  9. She’s not hated at all. Once she changed course and stopped, folks thanked her for making the right choice and moved on.
  10. Our gal Izzy is joining the Stranger Things family! ‘Stranger Things’ Stage Play Sets Cast, Opening Date The production, subtitled 'The First Shadow,' is set to begin previews in November in London. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/arts/stranger-things-stage-play-cast-opening-date-london-1235594529/amp/
  11. Okay, I give up. Clearly EC has an incredible group of friends connected with corporate lawyers, execs, junior paralegals, and PF Chang’s delivery people. Believe what you wish.
  12. How would the exec schmuck know? These “leaks” have all been designed to fracture the WGA membership just like what happened in all the other strikes. It’s not literally the AMPTP crew babbling at large to all their friends and buddies.
  13. I think the DGA deal is probably fine for them. But there basically wasn’t any rush to make it, and they lost some leverage in quickly ratifying… all to do nothing for the next 3+ months. It’s kind of a waste even though it didn’t hurt them much — they could’ve gained more. But they didn’t think SAG would strike and they didn’t realize how obstinate the AMPTP would be about not even talking to the WGA for 100 days.
  14. Because these are closed negotiations! Do you think Bob Iger sends out memos daily to everyone in his studio empire? What gets leaked to the press is all *anyone* knows unless they’re literally within the absolute inner circle of Iger, Serandos, etc or on the WGA negotiating committee. And even with that, ultimately it comes down to whether the WGA agrees, and even beyond that, whether their membership ratifies. I know various showrunners within the WGA… that doesn’t mean I have some secret source to insider info anymore than he does.
  15. He might be right, but I guarantee you he’s guessing. A broken clock twice a day, etc etc
  16. Yes, although amusingly enough, a Fox Business News reporter tagged them as the official account. I think it’s inevitable there will be certain and occasional complications between the two organizations, given the different specifics of their hopes (and contracts), but what’s key (I think) is this doesn’t seem to be translating to general anger from one guild toward the other. All the writers and actors I see on social media are enthusiastic and eager towards each other; when I walk the picket lines, it’s SAG members and WGA members and IATSE and non-union folk with tremendous good spirits, pride, and enthusiasm as they walk together. I think the studios would love to drive a few wedges between the two, and they’ve tried, but it hasn’t really manifested in any real way.
