  1. Upon being asked by Slash Film about being in Pacific Rim: Uprising on Twitter, Karl Urban posted this: As you can see now, the Instagram post has been removed. I think those names weren't supposed to be made known yet.
  2. Well, that's because it takes place in the 1970's (the 20th century). The 70's were a period when some areas of the world were still unknown. LANDSAT was first introduced in the early 1970's, and Jordan Vogt-Roberts took advantage of that information. Source.
  3. What I got from his statement is that he is proud that he entertained doctors and nurses overseas. Did it sound self-indulgent? Somewhat, but I don't think he meant for it to be construed as such. I agree that it could have been worded more elegantly. But everyone who freaked out about it needs to get a grip.
  4. They pulled this shit with Dredd. A solid, GOOD movie that was mishandled by an amateur, third-rate studio (yeah, I fucking said it. Flay me alive!). Nobody knew when it was coming. Here they are, almost five years later pissing about with VR and posts on their Twitter account. Yet there is no meaningful advertisement for their film. Just a teaser. The Weinstein Company handles their marketing more competently than these clowns.
  5. If this movie isn't the lowest grossing blockbuster in March, then it will be a travesty. It certainly deserves such a fate with the extremely conservative marketing that Lionsgate has been putting out there.
  6. Did anybody else think of this, when they saw the design for the Putties?
  7. In Theaters - Domestic (films made in the U.S.): Blair Witch - $45,163,532 In Theaters - Imported (brought in from another country): Shin Godzilla - $1,918,403
  8. I never expected it to make more than Godzilla domestically. King Kong has a beat up franchise that is mostly renowned for three films, all of which have the same plot and conclusion. How many times does a movie need to be remade? Godzilla has never had that problem. It's easier to get excited for a new Godzilla film because he wasn't taken out of his natural habitat and killed like a wild animal in multiple films.
  9. The CGI probably isn't final. One of the complaints people had for the second trailer for Godzilla (2014) was that the CGI looked a little shoddy. In actuality, it wasn't finished. So that's probably why the CGI in the November trailer looks unfinished....because it is. And yeah, the idea is to pit Kong against Godzilla in a 2020 crossover film.
  10. I just want it to do well because this would mean more giant monster movies. They are my cocaine, and I need my fix.
  11. This piece of concept art, as well as some information about Samuel L. Jackson's character in Kong: Skull Island will be in the December 29th issue of Empire Magazine. http://www.empireonline.com/movies/news/exclusive-concept-art-kong-skull-island-revealed/
  12. I could also just be seeing shit. I'm still using a computer monitor I bought in 2006. It may be time to upgrade.
  13. I'm complaining because as some have already said, they're probably going to give it the modern "dark and gritty" atmosphere. Not the noir, dystopian feeling that the first film radiated. I want a dark sequel to Blade Runner. I just don't mean that in a literal sense with sheer darkness and generic filters ("WOW, LOOK AT ALL THAT ORANGE!"). Of course, this is a reflection of my nostalgia for a soon-to-be 35 year old movie in an era where such things are typical. I also understand that this isn't even a fraction of the film. So I'm still going to end up seeing it, probably.
  14. I want to like this, but it's so dark and dreary visually. It should have kept the 1980's color that made it iconic, but I guess that was too much to ask.
  15. It reminds me of how they mishandled the marketing for Dredd, except the tracking for this is better (granted, Dredd was aimed at South Africa and the UK) and Dredd had a full trailer out three months prior to its release. I seriously don't think it'll be the marketing that breaks this movie's box office dreams. It'll be the overall quality of the film, and audience whims. Added: Actually, I might be wrong. "New" international trailer. It took them two months to pop this out, with only three months left? No new footage? The numbers for this are probably going to be bad.
  16. Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Ironically, I don't consider JW to be a science fiction movie. It's more of an action/monster film.
  17. Keep fucking up, Lionsgate. Spend ALL of the money on this. Bet it all on Power Rangers and see what happens...
  18. People really expected this to do great numbers in China? Chinese audiences know that they're being pandered to. It's different from selling a great movie, which The Great Wall won't be.
  19. I could see Power Rangers move. I can also see Lionsgate leaving it on that date.
  20. I'm beginning to think that the poster for Alien: Covenant that we got a couple of weeks ago was aimed at studios and not audiences. Everyone seems to be running from it.
  21. I suspect that they'll be sold on clearance soon. It's already been mentioned anyway that this hasn't stopped studios from moving films' release dates before. Personally, I think this movie is screwed no matter where it lands. But that's just my viewpoint.
  22. If it were to make that much money, imagine how that could change the dynamic of the film industry in Hollywood. Of course, this won't happen. But it'd be a nice paycheck.
