  1. https://deadline.com/2023/08/the-spiderwick-chronicles-canceled-disney-plus-cost-cutting-shopped-paramount-1235528689/ “Moving forward, Disney Branded Television, which supplies Disney+ with non-Marvel, Star Wars or Nat Geo live-action content, will be leaning more heavily into Disney-owned IP, I hear.” Because this strategy worked so well for live-action movies and your film strategy as a whole.
  2. Both hit a zeitgeist that I’m not sure it can replicate the same hype from the first, trailers views while solid aren't spectacular, Phase 4/5 wom amongst the GA being arguably the weakest for the MCU and the aforementioned 45/55 split is more or less the exact same Captain Marvel without China and Russia and most MCU movies this phase (Similar split gets it to 300/666 with that ratio or 705 with Guardians ratio of 43/57 (actually think I'll adjust upward to that 275/647)). I’m thinking a 110m OW with the aforementioned 2.5x = 275m domestic total. I think if WOM is strong, marketing is ramped up and reviews are pretty good, think a 130m OW could happen, give it the same 2.5x maybe 2.6x multiple and it gets 325-340m domestic and a similar split gets it to 720m-755m.
  3. True but they’ll likely be the most ready things to be announced and a way to get investors of their back.
  4. Thinking 275/600 for Marvels which is a 45/55 split, it’s a similar fall from WF to BP from CM without China or Russia. Don’t want to be too bullish unless reviews are at least good.
  5. Speaking of how do you get your Q3 2024-Q1 2025 stuff ready if it bleeds. Most of the tentpoles thrive on reshoots and I doubt most of the live action stuff in that timeframe is ready to film. Shit I think even stuff like DP3 moves because Marvel can’t risk it being bad
  6. I think it does better. Sure, exclusive imax was a benefit but it still would’ve lost PLFs to Marvels and Songbirds (also Napoleon was listed for IMAX on their most recent earning postings so they may have shared), and with a stacked Christmas it would’ve been at best having just a screen. The mid-March spot gives it Spring Break and Easter as well as Snow White and Ghostbusters being far weaker competition. And judging from the most recent IMAX calendar, it’s likely going to still get 6 weeks as Beyond left and I think like Oppenheimer, Villenueve probably has enough pull to convince a larger window because Dune 2 was filmed in IMAX taking it from Ghostbusters if Sony even schedules it for IMAX.
  7. Tbh them making everything an Avengers level event kind of is affecting them now. Don’t see the problem in an Avengers movie or two before Kang Dynasty that has them face Masters of Evil or someone else. Helps the GA get the dynamic for the newer characters.
  8. I can see a few animation projects getting announced as those could theoretically make it on time if the strike ends by the holiday. Something like Zootopia 2 for 2024, TS5 and Frozen 3 for 2025. Or confirmation of an Avenger or Legacy Marvel in one of the 2024 MCU projects. Not big but enough for eyeballs.
  9. It’s fun that the studios are willing to kill the theatrical industry as well as fuck over actors and writers by being unwilling to sacrifice a few millions and accept the loss on streaming (which the shareholders seem more or less aware of). due to personal greed. Fuck all the executives. I wish them a shitty Q3 and Q4.
  10. So 2une being fucked over due to corporate greed saved this. Now it gets IMAX and doesn’t have to worry about another big tentpole stealing it’s thunder… so long as quality is there.
  11. For Elemental at least, aside from pushing the Plus, Iger was the one who gave the okay to Soul being pushed to the plus and made the system that Chapek would exploit that took away distribution control from the studios and gave it to the executives. Iger was also the one who pushed most of the MCU Disney+ shows too as well as tentpole only strategy is starting to show faults.
  12. Finally have an outline I feel proud of in Gateways II. Think the first official draft will be done this week and if satisfied will be up Labor Day weekend. Green Lantern Corps 3 also has its’ outline completed and I’ll crack at that after the Gateways draft is done. Hopefully both can be ready to post by Labor Day Weekend and then I can focus on the rest of my slate.
  13. Would need consistent drops of 25% or under to reach 500M. Not impossible but unlikely as of now.
  14. With about 2 weeks to go and only 25 films done, think we got to talk about a deadline extension.
  15. Tbh the biggest mistake for Phase 4 was not doing an Avengers vs Masters of Evil or Thunderbolts film to end on, especially with the themes of that saga. It would’ve worked with the angle of public distrust over heroes and the power vacuum without the Avengers. They could even give it a pyrrhic victory with the Avengers winning but a group still doesn’t form for whatever BS they want to do with Kang.
  16. The Pixar CFO literally said, they are already at the green range for profits theatrically with a little more left over. Sure, it could be PR-blister, but Morris has the financial records.
  17. Think the Peacock Day and Date will eat into it. That’s the only thing stopping me from the 100m OW train. Think it could outopen Halloween 2018 at 75m though.
  18. Moon Girl is much more of a kids show like for instance the stuff you see on Disney Channel. It’s got the lesson of the week thing and the norm but it makes up for it in likeable characters, strong artwork and animation, a solid story and great action sequences. It even tackles gentrification in a smart way without feeling dumbed down or too much like a lesson in a few episodes (though it’s not the main plot). Recommend it if you don’t mind cartoons of the like. Haven’t gotten to Hit-Monkey yet but will eventually. Liked Hawkeye too for what is was, and is probably one of the better MCU shows.
  19. This is true. It’s the most like a TV show vs the others which are more or less extended movies. It, Ms. Marvel and WandaVision are flawed to stop them from greatness but at least good shows. Best Marvel show since Daredevil though is easily Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. It’s funny how much the disconnected animated comic book media is clearly the connected live action comic book media.
