  1. Marvels biggest roadblock is the Plus factor of having to explain Kamala and Monica’s appearances to the GA without it having to feel like homework. So far Phase 4/5 didn’t really have that problem, as Quantumania fell apart due to being an awful movie but Strange 2 WOM problems seems to partially be how they handled Wanda but that was primarily from uberfans and not so much the GA. If Kamala and Monica are able to mesh without confusing the GA, it’ll be fine. I was feeling big on Hunger Games a few months ago as the books were huge in my generation. Every middle schooler knows the YA book movie craze of 2011-15. However, the trailer hasn’t been catching on fire on social media and seems most likely to get the short end of the stick. The biggest issue from Dune 2 and Hunger Games is the PLF and screen space issues. Pretty sure Dune 2 is hogging IMAX until Hunger Games, but we could get a NWH/Matrix situation in which Matrix just got imax and NWH got the other big screens.
  2. Thor is seen as a failure due to mediocre WOM but no one here really dismissed the box office performance as it was solid and Strange though the total was disappointed because it collapsed after OW similarly to BvS having a clear gateway but failed due to mediocre WOM, Strange 2 doing 950m WW though is a huge success. I believe we've had this conversation before.
  3. I am here for the girls and the trailer looks fun but I am still thinking a fall similar to Wakanda Forever as the first hit a zeitgeist that is hard to recapture, especially with competition in both Dune 2 and Hunger Games, something like 100/260/600 seems about right.
  4. Dial of Destiny like Flash will just barely outdo it's budget. It's a flop.
  5. I’m currently in Barbados on vacation but the theater by me does have a Barbieheimer combo, so I plan on seeing both this weekend or next week.
  6. 2. 2 of those 50 caucus with Democrats, and on top of that only a slim majority of Republicans taken the house due to gerrymandering in NY and CA going unstopped. 3. Yes and that is because the GOP controlled House and Senate didn’t let Obama get to choose his replacement upon next election letting them getting that seat despite letting Trump doing the same. Trump also got to get another replacement. Also on top of that the US population doesn’t control who gets appointed to Supreme Court but congress does.
  7. Yeah. They can easily do what they did in 2015/2016 with Elio being a summer release and Inside Out 2 being the Thanksgiving title if it came to that, with WDA Fall 2024 for Spring 2025 and the other two untitled animations (probably Toy Story 4 and a sequel).
  8. Guessing it’s just likable enough and breezy enough for families with its themes.
  9. I mean Dead Reckoning will at least double it’s budget, I doubt Indy goes over 400m WW
  10. I’m realizing Ant-Man is likely staying within the top 10 this year domestically, unless I misremembering only Mario, Barbie, Across, Guardians, Mermaid have done over 200m right? Dead Reckoning and Oppenheimer have the best chances outside of Barbie this summer and may not get the legs they need, this winter has a lot of potential in 2une, Wonka, Aquaman, Marvels, Hunger Games and maybe one of Migration or Wish but it’s possibly just few enough can miss for it to be a possibility.
  11. I think, we still aren’t realizing a portion of the moviegoing audience left theatrical and may not ever return apart from one or two mega events (this year, it is Mario and Barbie), a shift towards larger formats more than ever, and the audience are even become more pick and choose for once mainstay theatrical genres (I mean look at the superhero movies this year apart from Across and Guardians) which was sped up by the rise of streaming being a cheaper alternative, inflation and the pandemic. Think it’s possible for admissions to increase as the years go by but I’m not sure if this new normal will be the main thing. However, one good thing is that the moviegoing audience is growing more diverse and younger, if these next batch of films within the next few years hit and maybe some way for theatrical to be more affordable, I think things can even out.
  12. Eh. The Mission movies even with raves have always had a fixed total, won’t surprise me if Dead Reckoning 2 is just above the usual mold at like 260m-ish. The idea which I too thought was a thing, was for a TGM bump to help push it to a stronger total like Avengers and Iron Man, but a key difference is that Maverick and Ethan Hunt are two different characters in two different universes, which may have limited crossover. Still think DR PO can leg it out to 200m even with a mid 50s fall from Barbieheimer, and do enough overseas to make profit.
  13. Y’all doom and gloom too much.
  14. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is the best Marvel show since Daredevil as well as taken more creative liberties than the Plus shows and Feige didn't even produce it.
  15. FFS dude, it was tracking to a 125-140m OW for a hot minute until it was revealed to be dogshit.
  16. Not to mention AM3’s damaging WOM probably would’ve effected the OW more than it did before.
  17. Wonder if Elemental can do 8M this weekend. Think it’ll do 150m with Labor Day expansion but am wondering if it can top Sing 2 (~160m).
  18. @cayommagazine Endless Animation is currently fast-tracking an adaptation of Milestone Media/DC’s Icon and Rocket. Endless Animation has had success with the Squirrel Girl franchise and the parent company Endless Entertainment has made strides with their DC films including Static. Irving expresses excitement for this, noting how well the mediums of animation and comic books intersect, citing the Spider-Verse series as an example and want to make something of similar scale to bring those characters to life. Who will direct the project? Kemp Powers (Soul, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) and Ian Jones-Quartery (OK KO: Let’s Be Heroes, Steven Universe, writer and co-director of Matilda and the Night Children) are both in the runnings to direct the project. As for rating? The studio aims for a hard or firm PG akin to the SpiderVerse movies but even a light PG-13 isn’t out of the question. The studio has also been kicking around the idea of a Blood Sydnicate movie which would be apart of the adult animation lineup of Rust, Twenty-One and last year’s Sleepy Hollow.
