Pre-pandemic, that would be a totally reasonable prediction and probably the average considering the DCEU tainted the reputation and had to overcome being a reboot. It was like TASM but did much better.

It's literally just a loud minority of pathetic racist chuds dislike-bombing. This movie is fine and believe that it'll bomb because of that is kind of suspect.

Why is it so low?

Guardians, Across and The Flash are the major tests but I'm not thinking it's so much fatigue but rather bad CBM fatigue.

Aquaman was fun and not like the others, was the major piece of the holiday in which Venom was the last big PG-13 action tentpole. Aquaman was also liked beforehand iirc. It's like asking why did No Way Home or more likely Guardians 3 do well after Eternals and Quantumania. The non-JL heroes struggled imho because of lack of trust (though Max did a number on it, look at the drop from SS to TSS) and/or bad marketing (Shazam is one of my favorite recent CBMs but this looked awful (also for some reason 95% of WB family aiming films end up underperforming (most of WAG library, Shazam, Pikachu, etc)).

How is Cars 2 to blame for Cars 3 and Planes bombing? I say that as a defender of both BvS and Cars 2.

I disagree with one of these personally as MoM is upper tier MCU for me but audience reception wise yes, agreed entirely, MoM had worse reception. We should stop taking bait because reality will always be ignored.

Luca’s Mean Girls of Aquaman looks okay. Pretty to look at but that's about it. Marketing should've started back with Puss 2 imho. 17/25/80

No it's US theatrical too, just a very late marketing campaign.

The concern is more so an animation logjam in addition to big tentpoles in the vicinity. Tbh I don't get why Gillman isn't on 7/7, an Illumination hot spot but fourth of July power is powerful.

With Gillman on the 30th, Disney should really consider moving this to July as June seems too much for Elemental to handle.

Jesus. These Shazam reviews are quite bad especially considering it's looking to open o/u $20m. Feels like Shazam was given a wash to make way for the new DCU. At least DC has Flash and Aquaman left over.

@cayommagazine Endless Animation has decided to work with British stop-motion pioneers at Aardman Animation for a new feature film for Y11 as one of the studios’ two family films alongside The Gadgets in a MAD World. Nick Park (Wallace and Gromit) will write and direct the picture. Details are mum for now but word has it, Park is using one of Endless Animation’s old scripts for a murder-mystery.

A trailer was just rated to in Canada, so I’m guessing new trailer with Mario opening on 6/30. (Though 2 months for a major marketing campaign is ridiculous.)
