The Disney Thread | Happy 90th to Donald Duck!
YM! replied to A Marvel Fanboy's topic in Box Office Discussion
Honestly, thinking the slate will be: Toy Story 5 - June 2025 - Going to guess this is Fee’s mystery project Apthon’s Movie - Spring 2026 (Docter hinted her project specifically instead of any other artist) Domee’s 2nd Film - Summer 2026 (Got a huge feeling Shi will be the Docter of the new artists in that she will be the one making the biggies) Lester will be 2027, Sullivan and Enrico’s will be 2028. -

https://www.thewrap.com/pete-docter-interview-pixar-lightyear-toy-story-5/ “When asked if Aphton Corbin, one of Docter’s key collaborators on “Sou,” and the director of the super charming short film “Twenty Something” (now on Disney+), was working on anything he gave a sly “Maybe.” “She’s playing around and we’ll see,” Docter said. “Once we have news that’s fit to print, you’ll be the first to hear it.”” Its totally going to be a 2026 movie, @Morieris we are not only going to get the first black Pixar director but a sister who can cook. -
@cayommagazine Sarah Chalke (Rick and Morty, Cougar Town, Paradise PD) has signed on to voice the main villain in The Gadgets, which is slated for a Christmas Y11 release date. A brief logline was released too: “Inspector Gadget, Penny and Brain are forced once again to save the world, as The Baroness (Sarah Chalke), a former lover of Dr. Claw and number 2 of MAD has resurfaced for revenge after the not-so-good doctor left her at the altar and then fired her, taking control of MAD via a coup with a dastardly plan and taken down the agency Gadget works for. The Gadget family teams up with the most unlikely allies: the villainous mastermind Dr. Claw and his surrogate daughter MADdie. The two families must learn to work together if they want to save/conquer the world, that is if they can stop themselves from killing each other.”

Tbh yeah I think this is likely for some type of deal for Universal live action as Deblois has been trying to get his foot in that door for a while. The Craig McCracken story really saddens me. Especially because he’s made a lot of good cartoons (PPG, Fosters, Wander, Kid Cosmic) and now he’s stuck with reboots.

Going to predict the Marvel movies because I’m bored: Quantumania: 108/123/250/540 Guardians: 170/435/875 Marvels (assuming decent reviews 60%+ on RT/A- CinemaScore): 120/300/750 New World Order (same Marvels criteria, and this is assuming it’s a psuedo Hulk movie): 135/335/700 Thunderbolts (same criteria as Marvels): 70/190/400 Blade (etc): 65/180/365 F4: 115/135/300/650 Kang Dynasty: 210/450/1300

Any idea for OS gross?

Anyways Phase 4 was moreso leveling off and ultimately most did very well. A $103m/$119m/$235m/$550m performance is solid enough for Quantumania (although it can be of concern if the international box office doesn’t stabilize and goes under AM1). The thing to be concerned of is if WOM for Quantumania and a majority of phase 4 movies continues to be mediocrely received by audiences especially if an Avengers movie got similar reception. Guardians will more or less be unaffected as Gunn always cooks and the release date change for The Marvels means it’ll likely do better than it did in late July, and with stuff like Deadpool 3 and New World Order being a psuedo Avengers movie, the MCU should still have a heavy amount of hits this phase, with the only question marks being Thunderbolts and Blade.

Ironic as if you cut out all the context like mediocre WOM, international box office looking to underwhelm and the fact that people are saying it could be in trouble rather than it’ll die immediately, then yeah everyone is totally saying the MCU is forever dead. Would expect a bit more brainpower from the guy who sent out threats to the mods.

Yeah that’s their biggest mistake. You don’t have to go bigger to be better. Like actually focus on the post Blip world for the saga and do something slightly more grounded. Multiverse can be the next saga if they wanted. Ideally the whole phase would be about the power imbalance and the debate on heroes. Phase 4, could be similar to Phase 1 but as superhuman hate grows. Sam Cap would be a main player as he really steps up to the plate (instead of doing a hacky both sides thing). Strange could be his opposite or Carol if they want. Masters of Evil could be the main villains that way, seeking to exploit the power balance and supervillains vs heroes is a concept that befuddles me on how it isn’t used. New Avengers is formed showing they’re not just there to save the world but help out the civilians. Phase 5 would introduce the mutants with a bit more cosmic shenanigans but expand on those ideas. Showcase the legislation against mutants and how despite there’s an Avengers, the world is still very much divided even if there’s no world ending Avengers level threat. If they want, foundations of Young Avengers could appear too. But this could end in Avengers vs X-Men. Phase 6 could be something to tie into the whole theme. I was going say Annhilius but I’m not really feeling that and Phoenix could work thematically, it’s just the third time it’s been done. (I actually just thought of it, Secret Invasion, which ends with public trust on heroes and metahumans regained).
