I definitely believe in world premiere bias and it has been demonstrated many times. But that applies to every big franchise (or almost all).

Also applies to the film festival circuit.

Every time reviews come out of film festivals you swear the films are the next reincarnation of Jesus or something.

  2. I think after Endgame, which felt like an ending, the MCU is sort of in a weird place. I think a lot of the good will they once had is sort of disappearing.

Even on Twitter, I feel like I see viral tweets all the time saying all MCU movies are grey, not real movies or they are all the same. Marvel is military propaganda. Marvel is the worst thing to happen to cinema.

Now with them releasing more content than ever with varying degrees of quality, the MCU is just sort of losing what made it special.

Are you implying that influencers and critics who are given free seats at premieres might not be completely unbiased? 😉

If you are a critic you would be tiptoeing carefully around Disney for instance because bad reviews might cost you a nice premiere seat at say a future Star Wars or MCU movie.

I’m not trying to start a conspiracy or anything lol.

If I attended a star studded premiere I would probably have a rose tinted view of any film not just Disney films.

It just seems that this Marvel and Zhao collaboration didn’t really click with critics unfortunately.

Some of these reviews read like negatives but then at the end it says 6/10 and enters as fresh on RT. The MCU pass is real.

Don’t worry. The first wave always lean positive as most of them attended the premiere.

This film will go rotten as more reviews come in. The next few critics won’t be as lenient.

I mean, she did said there was test screening for both NWH and DS2 when she give these infos. Everyone throws shit at her only to hours later a photo leaked after the test screening of NWH confirming it.

ViewerAnon looked it and have the same information.

I understand Grace is messy, starts unnecessary chaos, have terrible takes on box office numbers, and like all insiders she have wrong info sometimes. But at this point people throw disproportionate hate into her, not everything she say is a lie, recently she actually get some pretty big things right. Of course everything must be taken with a grain of salt but this is for every "insider" not only her.

And like i said she didn't say anything terrible, she just said they need more time to settle everything because the story it's not flowing that well right now and they give this extra time. I wouldn't be surprised with this given the ridiculous deadlines Marvel works.

I’m sorry but I can’t agree with this. Grace is not an ‘insider’ in any capacity. She steals info from smaller sites and passes it as her own. She may know some people in the industry but her ‘scoops’ are always 90% wrong.

She also likes to create false narratives like with the Cathy Yan situation saying it was a ‘dick pic’ and Pedro Pascal left the set of the Mandalorian. Neither which was true. This is her plan with the supposed ‘test screenings’.

She needs to keep her followers who are paying her bills interested by lying to them. That’s her game.

  6. This will go Rotten I think. I’d say it might settle in the 50s.

It just seems from the reviews that this Zhao and Marvel collaboration didn’t really work. Too different styles that didn’t really fit together.

At least Marvel and Zhao tried to change it up a little so they deserve credit for that but alas.

I think they've done splendid with their casting choices and directors. Unfortunately bad writing can bring everything down and that's where their hires haven't been inspired. At all.

Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame worked because of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The Russos get a lot of credit, as they should, but it feels like hardly anyone talks about the backbone: the writers. Without people who can write films well, you have nothing.

Marvel always seem to look for up and coming talent when it comes to their writers.

Maybe they could try get some more experienced writers and see what happens. They can easily afford it lol.

One thing I do know is that Marvel is developing a crack in their armour and that is they're hiring baaad writers. The writing on the shows and some of the latest films is one of the weaknesses. The quality is dropping but as I've said before, it doesn't really matter because people - including myself - have become so invested in the narrative. These films are hardly judged on their artistic merit anymore and almost solely on their place in the overall Marvel narrative.

All that to say, I'm not surprised in the least at the script critiques.

Yeah I agree with this. I think Marvel Studios is spreading itself too thin with the amount of content they are putting out.

With so many creatives, you’re going to get more varying results. It seems they tried to do something different with Eternals but it doesn’t seem to have worked as well as they thought.
