I think the most genius part of the trailer was telling pet owners their cats and dogs could be featured in the movie's campaign over the next 6 months. Getting kids and pet owners involved in submitting videos that might show up everywhere is gonna get them invested in the film. It's like SLOP, but with their own pets.
Give whoever came up with that campaign a promotion and raise, b/c it's another genius new way to reach GA viewers. I see a Super Bowl ad with the 1st set of pets and then asking for more...
I think you're getting a bit carried away suggesting this will be the next SLOP.

I find the whole 'Marvel is dead' hyperbole so eye rolling. We'll still get Marvel films in the coming years.

Stop working with WB altogether? Nope. But at the very least, I expect some of them to at least think twice before pitching an idea or story if this keeps up.
This is Hollywood, there are very few people who can afford to be picky.
Interesting that the movies that have been shelved were all IP based.

I do think people are being stupid, people aren't going to stop working for Warner Bros ever again in the same way they won't stop working for Disney. WBD and WB are not the same and TBH once the dust has settled, people will be pitching their ideas at WB,

If I were James Gunn, I'd start planning contingencies.
I doubt he'll leave now.

TBH if we're going to use an equivalent, this is Marvel Studio's Strange World/Treasure Planet/The Good Dinosaur. In the long run, Marvel will be fine and Disney will be fine. People seem to forget that this is a company that makes boatloads of money every year from everything other than TV and films.

They've remade all three of their films to mixed results. I do miss the lower budget Disney films like The Parent Trap.

It looks very cheap. Surprised that Sony are releasing it because Paramount now owns Garfield.

They'll be needing any they can get after all these duds diluting the genre. If anything, Gunn should be less cocky and more modest until a few movies in, when his universe is a true hit. Never get complacent like Marvel has become.
Positive as always I see.

Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible were two of the biggest bombs of the year btw.
Just to clear that up lol. Both losing over $100m+ for their studios.
Mission Impossible is getting another film so it's not like the franchise is over.

Indiana Jones literally made more than MI7 domestically. I don't know how you can claim this.
MI7 was much more successful OS.

yes, and I would argue the last point is why cinema’s in a death spiral. 3-4 megahits a year among a sea of failures is a shaky business model.
Not everything has been a failure though. Something like The Nun II for example still was profitable.
I think exhibitors want a steady flow of product. Something like this summer where you had a new film or two every week is better than 1 film dominating and nothing being released for 2-3 weeks.

Yeah it's been awhile since Family Ties was on. Yeah this most likely passes but it seems like their might be a lot of division and anger in SAG no matter what happens.
Wouldn't be an actor union if there wasn't drama.
It's unlikely but I wonder if SAG-AFTRA and Equity will ever merge. Seems silly to have two acting unions and probably make things a lot easier to just have the one union.

Almost every company is in debt. Especially movie studios. Just because you have debt doesn't mean jack shit.
Debt is only a problem if you can't pay it off.

I would point out that the strike forever members are the minority of a union. Some will never be happy but most members will accept and go back to work.

Iger is too big of a PR pussy to actually make a tough, knowingly unpopular decision like that. He'd be too scared of "the optics."
And Disney is in quite a bit of debt themselves.
All big companies have debt. Amazon and Comcast's debt is double that of WBD and Disney.

What I said earlier if this gets rejected because the Justine Batemans rally the majority to vote it down. The AMPTP is gonna say go ahead eat yourself from within.
Justine Bateman is not a big name, don't worry about it.

With the way the box office results are coming in for The Marvels from around the world, maybe it should have been Zaslav'd.
The difference between Bob Iger and David Zaslav is that Iger is less of an asshole but also Disney has a lot more money than WBD.

Did chuckle that Fran did a lot of the meetings at home in a bathrob, that makes me think The Nanny wasn't fiction.

Most of the jabs the first two Deadpool movies made at Fox’s expense were more akin to a roast than a brutal takedown. At most, you could argue they were ripping into the previous regime under Tom Rothman, who was an obstacle in the movie getting made for the longest time.
As for DP3, I’m personally not expecting to be amazed by it, but assuming audiences aren’t completely tired of the multiverse gimmick yet, then a Deadpool movie that’s essentially the X-Men equivalent of NWH should do pretty well for itself, even if it obviously won’t be as big as NWH. It helps that 2024 is looking to be a pretty dry year in general, so people will likely be hungry for a big event film.
I don't think Marvel Studios would mind if Deadpool makes jabs at the MCU, it's not meant to be a serious character and the fourth wall breaking is the character's USP.

I've said it before but it continues to bear repeating:
This mess is what happens when a reality TV mogul in charge of a studio that makes scripted entertainment and animation. Warner Bros Discovery is essentially a bakery currently being run by a butcher.
WBD isn't Warner Bros itself. Why do people keep thinking it is.

TBH I don't see a lot of actors rejecting the deal because you know people need to work.

I agree that’s an awful idea even though I think SM4 is 2026. They fundamentally can’t do 4 films a year and think they’ll adjust again. I was referring to moreso after Secret Wars though.
There's no way Spider-Man 4 will be 2025, it doesn't even film until late 2024.

While $182m WW isn't amazing, on a $30m budget Paw Patrol is very profitable for Paramount and keep the toy sales healthy. No wonder a third movie is coming.

Star plushies are going to sell like hot cakes.
I remain impress how Disney successfully monetises their IP, I was looking at the most successful media franchises and Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh has made tens of billions from merchandise.
