  1. I'm glad I have him on ignore as I couldn't handle constant bolded text and capital letters that were his posts Wonder how long it'll be until he's back in purgatory?
  2. I wonder what's the personal loss that Michael Banks suffers, if I was to guess I would say putting my speculation in spoiler tag in case it turns out to be true
  3. I think spin-offs would be enough for Fox to keep the rights not to mention the TV series like Legion.
  4. Logan was very good although it was more in the vein of a western like True Grit and Unforgiven which isn't too surprising considering James Mangold directed 3.10 to Yuma. It's a great sendoff's to Jackman's Logan/Wolverine.
  5. I agree, it was fine but not great but still not the worse X-Men film, that honour belongs to Origins
  6. Deapool was done on a low budget so Fox would have been happy had it done $300-400m WW and Hugh Jackman has a lot of clout so if he wasn't happy with how Logan was going, he was going to walk.
  7. Certain Batman stories like The Killing Joke and The Dark Knight Returns needed to be higher rated but most Batman stories can get away with the PG-13 rating.
  8. Suicide Squad was rated 15 in the UK which is the equivalent to an R but I suspect that was more to with violence as the BBFC are way more strict on it. I could see SS2 being R rated, possibly Gotham City Sirens and maybe Dark Universe but anything else is a no no but WB/DC has the Vertigo line for more mature content.
  9. Travis Knight is a very interesting choice but risky considering he's only directed one film. He doesn't need the money so I wonder why he's chosen to direct it
  10. Universal doesn't need Legendary anymore, they've already got financier in place with Perfect World and they've got plenty of hits
  11. Tull and Kavanaugh are good example of why financiers shouldn't run studios, investing in a film is fine or be more like Megan Ellison where she funds risky films. Luckily Universal can weather the loss of The Great Wall thanks to the success of Split and Get Out. You can bet once the Universal deal expires, it's not being renewed..
  12. Most mini-majors like Lionsgate, TWC, DreamWorks SKG etc don't have the resources to release and market a film overseas so it's cheaper and more cost effective to sell it to a local distributor which means the budget can be mostly recouped before the film is released, the downside is that if a film is a OS success but not a domestic success then the studios won't see a penny of that money. The most infamous example was New Line Cinema and The Golden Compass which made $70m domestic but $300m OS but NLC sold the OS rights so it didn't help at all and was the reason why the studio folded into Warner Bros.
  13. It's difficult to know because I suspect it varies depending on the distributor and country,
  14. Lionsgate isn't going to see any of the OS money apart from UK so it really needs to do well in the US and UK markets as well as being a decent success for the local distributors.
  15. Can't believe Lego Batman is only slightly behind Despite Sings's bigger opening, even if it only gets to £25-26m, it's still a big success. Logan, £9-10m seems likely, I imagine it could get to £30m total which might be tricky with the huge competition in March. I have a feeling Kong is going to be squeezed as its released in between Logan and Beauty and the Beast
  16. You would think after Miss Universe and now the Oscars, award organisers are going to try and not have cock ups like this happens at their shows. On the plus side, it's going to give award hosts material for this year's Tony's, Emmys etc
  17. If it happened during Zootopia's win and they announced Kubo had actually won, cannastop would have gone full on Blanks...
  18. True, they not only have critical acclaim and a boatload of awards but they'll still benefit from the boost financially since it's still playing and I imagine it'll do a ell on home entertainment, VOD and TV airings so Lionsgate will benefit for years to come
  19. La La Land still won 6 awards it would have been nice to win Best Picture but it doesn't take away from the fact it had a good night overall.
  20. You can bet they won't be having older actors doing the BP envelope opening next year and they'll have the envelope with huge letters as well
  21. Lionsgate had a great night overall, despite not winning BP La La Land is a huge hit for them critically and financially
  22. Chazelle least has best director as a consolation. The film has plenty of awards so not getting BP while disappointing isn't going to hurt him in the long run.
