  1. The week of the 13th August is going to be big with three major releases in The Bourne Legacy, Brave and Expendables 2, Brave and Bourne have a seven day opening while E2 have 4 days, I reckon Brave will come out on top with Bourne and Expendables in second and third.
  2. Hangover was an unknown quantity whereas Ted has Seth Macfarlane which will draw in fans of his work. A £5m opening would be on par with The Dictator.
  3. Inbetweeners numbers are very unlikely but I think £5m five day opening is doable.
  4. impressive that Pirates managed to sneak back into the top ten, same with MIB3, TDKR has a very good drop,
  5. Dr Seuss has never been that popular overseas, given that the film's in the black from the domestic release, anything it makes overseas is just gravy. Kind of dumb of Universal to have released it sandwiched between Ice Age and Brave in many markets.
  6. I think DWA is trying to become like Disney with various external outlets like TV, theme parks, live entertainment etc but that took Disney a long time to become the company it is today and they have more than just animated films which is all that DWA have at the moment, it'd be interesting to see them develop live action projects but I imagine that won't happen.
  7. DWA has a lot of projects in development, some get moved back or moved forward. They've got the Monkeys of Mumbai, the film with music by A R Rahman and Stephen Schwartz which I imagine will be a Spring or Winter release in 2015 or 2016.With DWA doing up to three animated films a year, I wonder how long before one of them completely flops given that most animation companies to 1-2 a year max.
  8. Ice Age should become the eighth £20m film within the week, the article doesn't mention that Bridesmaids also grossed over £20m but I don't think it hit it by this stage last year. August doesn't look like it'll have an Inbetweener like film but I imagine Ted and Brave will break £20m.British films once again are doing well and while War Horse and The Pirates! didn't quite crack £20m, they still did very well and we still have Skyfall coming in October as well as The Sweeney in September.
  9. Dreamworks have dabbled with hand drawn animation with Kung Fu Panda so a movie mixing hand drawn and CG should be interesting. Would be interesting to see them do a live action hybrid like Roger Rabbit.
  10. The £14.3m is just under the £15-16m prediction but I think the weather on Sunday played a small part but for a 2D film at almost three hours, it's a great result and it still has the rest of the summer to go.
  11. For a 2D film at almost three hours, its a good result, I think it should great legs and will benefit from summer weekdays.
  12. I reckon the tone will be similar to the Nolan films but they'll make it less grounded in reality in order to use the more fantastical villians like Clayface, Mr Freeze etc and to fit it into the wider DC Film Universe.I would like Mr Freeze to be done again, he can be a great villian when done correctly as evident in the Animated Series where he's a tragic figure.
  13. I'm sure The Hobbit will be big, there hasn't really a big December film since Avatar although Sherlock Holmes and Mission Impossible were successful. Return of the King had a £15m five day opener back in 2003 so if the Hobbit can come close to that, it'll definetly have legs should the WOM and reviews be good.
  14. Avengers £15.8m was for four days so it will be still impressive for The Dark Knight Rises to do £15-16m especially as it's only has IMAX rather than 3D. It'll be the highest grossing three day opener of 2012 at least until Skyfall.
  15. It'll never happen but I think he should direct the Cleopatra biopic that been in development at Sony for a few years.
  16. He's a great director but I think he should go in a different direction for his next films, Spielberg has alway been a mix of serious and populist with Indiana Jones, ET, Schindler's List, Jurrasic Park etc whereas Nolan's quite a serious director, I couldn't see him doing a family film.
  17. It's be number 1 for the next two weeks at least, its only real competition will be Ted on August 1st then Bourne Legacy, Brave and Expendables 2 on August 17th. I imagine either Ted or Brave will knock off TDKR.
  18. I imagine Man of Steel will have a longer trailer attached to the Hobbit in the same way The Dark Knight Rises was with Sherlock Holmes,
  19. I imagine Fox would like a Family Guy movie but like The Simpsons Movie, it's trying to fit it into an already busy schedule that Seth MacFarlane has with his animated shows and also a plot that can play over 80-90 minutes, I think it should be a musical.
  20. Taken gained a following thanks to DVD and TV, I don't think it was that successful when it was originally released 4 years ago but I imagine £4-5m OW for Taken 2 which for October is very good.Just read that the BFI IMAX is be operated by Odeon from now on, it'll still be owned by BFI and it'll still be called the BFI IMAX but all bookings and stuff like concessions will be handled by Odeon, given that how the IMAX has grown in the last few years, I'm not surprised that they've decided to partner with a cinema chain especially with online booking which has always been a nightmare especially for big releases.
  21. The Dark Knight Rises will the last film in a while to generate this sort of advance sales until either Breaking Dawn part II or possibly Skyfall.
  22. Spider-Man had a good drop, I think it'll do £25-30m total, it'll be an alternative to those who can't see TDKR. Ice Age did very well but it did have two weeks of previews plus wide release in Scotland and Ireland.
  23. I reckon they'll be a fifth film to wrap up the franchise. Bringing the characters to modern times could work or find a way to bring back the humans and tie it with the first film.
  24. Given that DWA releases up to 3 films a year, it might be tricky for SPA to get a look in, I imagine the studio won't shutdown but it'll mostly deal with hybrids like The Smurfs as well as their deal with Aardman.I'm surprised DWA didn't go with Warner Bros given that their animation studios doesn't seem to release animated films.
  25. Five sequels seem excessive, I'd just be happy with two more films to conclude the story. Given there's a TV series as well, I think Dreamworks might be milking KFP dry.
