No one is suggesting that. Name one person here that is saying that Marvel will can DP3 or Spider-Man 4.

They are not gonna can MCU because, with POTC, and Star Wars in the gutter, MCU is the only live-action IP that is doing anything on Disney's side. Avatar as well, but James Cameron will not let Disney pump out anything out of that IP beyond the main movies. Of the Disney >$600m WW grossers post-COVID, all but one are MCU.

scytheavatar seems to think so but he's clearly a WUM.

Honestly, people in Disney should start having conversations as to what plan B they have if the MCU is permanently unprofitable.  Cause if they wait till Kang Dynasty bombs before they start discussing it, it will be too late. This is why I have been suggesting Disney consider doing stuff like buying Hasbro, cause it will give them new IPs to play with. But of course how they can get the money to make such a purchase, I have no idea.

The MCU will be rebooted if that happens, there is no such thing as a franchise being permanently unprofitable, that's just your hyperbolic take. The Batman franchise recovered from Batman and Robin, Spider-Man recovered from TASM2 and The Planet of the Apes franchise which was dormant for over a decade was successfuly revived.

If people in Marvel continue to stick their head in the sand and pretend everything is fine with a new coat of paint, we will eventually reach that stage. We are not there yet but ultimately Disney is not a charity organization and must make decisions based on future revenue rather than past glories. Pirates of the Caribbean got shitcanned even though it NEVER remotely was close to bombing like The Marvels.

I think it's safe to say, you're never going to get a job in the entertainment industry judging by your posts.

It is not. Cause it is not a reach to say that the MCU plans post Endgame has been a flop and hype has been on a steep decline. At this current stage why would Cap America 4 and Thunderbolts fare much better than The Marvels when they are built on the same rotten foundations? By now people should be aware that random superheroes fighting a random supervillain is no longer a winning formula. The multiverse saga has been a resounding, undeniable flop yet Marvel continues to march forward with it even with countless reshuffling of plans.

You're clearly trolling at this point. Next you'll be suggesting no more Marvel films ever again.

They've been waiting this whole time for the strike to end.

Also, remember when I said the other day that they were probably going to have the Marvels cast surprise crowds over the weekend to make up for lost promotional time? Well, well.

I can imagine Iman and Brie got the call shortly after the strike ended asking if they had an outfit to wear.

I wonder how quickly Timmy will be scouted for Wonka, I imagine a UK premiere has to be on the cards for late November or the first week of December.

People point to Rich Ross after John Carter, but there was a number of factors there, one being that he came from TV and didn't have much film experience, but the biggest was that he was an asshole who people didn't like. The final straw seems to be when he tried to pass the blame for John Carter onto Pixar and they got PISSED about that.

He also oversaw Mars Needs Moms and I don't think any superhero movie, Marvel DC or otherwise, is as bad as that movie.

Rich Ross wasn't liked by anyone at Disney IIRC but I as I say, getting rid of high profile talent is not taken lightly and firing all your top CCOs is not a good look.

  7. I know this is the MCU/Marvel thread but the mentality of cancel everything and rest for x number of years was touted for DC as well. People also seem obsessed with people getting fired, last year it was Jennifer Lee and Pete Docter and this year it's Kevin Feige. Firing someone is not something taking lightly and I suspect the usual suspects would never get a job anywhere if the mentality is fire everyone or cancel everything.

Also can’t help adding your moaning about arm chair analysts on an Internet forum discussing business results. Lack of awareness there.

It's not lack of awareness but some on here seem to think the solution for Disney is to cancel everything and start again and that's true for everything they're making and not just Marvel. There's no chance they'll go a year or two without releasing any films.

Is getting a never ending string of bombs really a more healthy solution? The reality the MCU is in right now is that it's in the same state as the DCEU, if not worse. At some point Marvel really needs that Star Wars break and a long period where no Marvel films are released so that they can calibrate their future direction. What exactly does Marvel and Disney hope to achieve in releasing movies which most people can see bombing years away?

Clearly you have no idea on how film production actually works. Cancelling everything and releasing nothing is not going to happen. I suspect your wonderful business acumen would see WDAS and Pixar closed down because they released 1-2 unsuccessful films. 🙄

Furiosa will likely end up either moving up (5/17) or back (5/31) a week as studios officially begin to pencil in the 2024 calendar with stuff they know will be ready.

I think Furiosa's OW is centred around Cannes. I think Mickey 17 will debut there as well but I suspect that's going to be released in August

Video games are a very different product and they release bad video games all the time. Like ALL the time. Just look at Gollum or most Square Enix products. Nobody sets out to make a shitty movie.

But hey we do have some users here who do set out to shit post. And that's how we get shit takes like "hollywood needs to learn from a completely different industry".

Me thinks some people have no idea how Hollywood works.

Cancelling finished games is just as expensive as cancelling finished movies and TV shows if not more so. I don't get why people keep suggesting it's a good thing to cancel completed projects of any form.
