Looks like Marvel really wants to stick to a schedule where they release movies in February, May, July and November. On the plus side, I suppose DP3 being the only MCU next year could be a good thing in terms of giving the audience some time to breathe, and doing whatever they need to do to fix Cap 4 in post.

I find it strange Marvel wants to keep February rather than be flexible with Spring releases. Blade in November seems weird but I guess The Batman Part II is the reason why they're not releasing it in either September or October.

    👏I👏FUCKING👏 CALLED 👏 IT

Almost half a year of reshoots sounds pretty brutal, and almost Josstice-tier. But hey, if it actually fixes the movie, then so be it. This is the good thing about The Marvels bombing. It will be the wakeup call Marvel needs to get back on track. Focusing solely on Deadpool 3 for next year and otherwise laying low until this movie in 2025 is the smartest decision they've made in a while. Hoping for the best!

You really need to stop using Josstice League for any sort of reshoots, you said about Mission Impossible as well and making uncalled comments about Simon Pegg

    I wouldn’t go that far…yet.

Frozen literally had zero competion until February. Zootopia just resonated to kids and adults alike with its political and relevant theme whereas The Lion King is just a once in a lifetime phenomenon.

This has Wonka and Migration pulling the family audience by December, plus Trolls is also there. But this definitely looks primed to succeed, hopefully.

Trolls didn't get great reviews and it's not like it's a Shrek or KFP.

  4. I would imagine the SAG contract is going to be a template for other unions such as IATSE although the demands of crew is different from writers and actors since there isn't revenue streams involved.

British Equity did suggest they were willing to strike next year but given British Equity has a much better relationship with the media companies such as the BBC, it's unlikely but also it's much harder to go on strike since you need a 50% majority and it's done by postal votes.

I'm not entirely sure Despicable Me is making its July date considering Kung Fu Panda is still set for March and clearly isn't making that date (less than 4 months away and zero promotion efforts). Unless that's punting away from March all the way to the holidays or something.

The Illumination films are usually set in stone in terms of rewrites and TBH I can't imagine voice work takes much time and usually it's done way in advance.

I think they are more willing to sacrifice KFP4 to a later date over DM4.

I mean if you’re doing Blade for $100 million with Mahershala Ali that’s doing both. Not every character is right for a lower budget film, but Shang-Chi really doesn’t need to end with a giant kaiju battle. I think most would agree that’s the weakest part of that movie. Black Widow doesn’t need a floating fortress in its third act. Smaller budgets could spur more innovative storytelling instead of relying on empty spectacle.

(On a side note, budgets will naturally decrease with loosening COVID protocols which have inflated budgets at least 15% for all the big films this year. Of course, many budgets for 2024/2025 will be inflated by strike delays).

Making a movie look cheap can harm a film as well. FF and X-Men can't done on the cheap either.
