TLK was really good, not as good as the animated film but really beautiful and most ornate the voice actors did great. Forgot that school holidays are on at the moment, so that will help with early showing the next two days. Cinema was 80% full and most of the audience liked it, some laughs, lots of tears. The biggest pop though was actually the Frozen II trailer as there was so many kids in the showing they where yelling out Elsa, Anna , Frozen etc And I think most of them were already trying to convince parents/grandparents to take them. Angry Birds 2 also got a surprisingly decent reaction, Ugly dolls was not well received.

The school holidays will help night shows as well since kids don't have to worry about going to bed early, I'm looking at shows for a few cinemas and they're doing amazing. I just checked out Manukau and earlier sessions are close to selling out, and there's 5 sessions starting from 11pm all the way up to a midnight screening there so it looks like it's super popular out south. I'm still on the fence as to whether I'm going to see it but it's sure doing well here. I was surprised at it getting so many showings but I guess they knew what they were doing. 🤐

Isn't she getting her own Disney+ show?

It's been rumoured but not outright confirmed the way others like Loki, Falcon/Winter Soldier, ScarletVision have been as far as I'm aware? Maybe with this now there wouldn't be any need for it, if it was something that was even going to happen in the first place.

The fact that so much of Thor’s supporting cast is dead is another reason I’d prefer for Thor to be a supporting character moving forward. Still, I guess they could bring back Hela, and maybe bring in the Enchantress (don’t know if they’ll call her that, though).

Sif hasn't been addressed yet, maybe she could return.

“Falcon & Winter Soldier,” which is coming out next year on Disney+. You’ve directed in the MCU before with “The Punisher,” but how will this show differ in style and tone, and what will the story focus on post-“Endgame?”
As you can imagine, I can tell you almost nothing, [laughter] because it’s all a closely-guarded secret for the sake of everybody enjoying the nice surprise of what we’re cooking up. But it is going to be a wonderful and wild ride. As you know, at the end of ‘Endgame,’ the shield was passed to Anthony Mackie. Now, we will go on that ride with him and see where that takes us.

And that’s about as much as I can tell you at this point. But I can say it will be jam-packed with all the things that the MCU is known for, which is not just the drama but also the wonderful action that we do. What I’m thrilled about is that as a female, I’m working with Kevin Feige and Nate Moore and Zoe Nagelman, all of whom are on the feature side, and we are making a six-hour feature. The MCU universe is so inclusive and so diverse in how they see the world. They’re very forward-thinking, and I’m very proud to be part of telling their stories.

13 months to go but at least they're shooting in October so we can probably get some set pictures then.

  5. Saw Endgame with bonus footage yesterday afternoon and it was nice to see the movie again after a few weeks. I'd meant to see it one more time before it left cinemas here but I kept going to see Aladdin again instead so this was good to have a chance to make it again. They only showed the Stan Lee tribute and the deleted scene, not the Spidey sneak peek which I didn't really care about but thought it was interesting they didn't just leave it on even though the movie's out now.

The showings here are selling well but they're limited and in small theatres (mine was a 50 seat and sold 47 tickets) so won't make much of a dent but I was glad they had it available for us as well. There were at least a handful of people who must not have seen it before because they were the ones reacting and laughing at certain parts while the rest of us weren't, but it was nice to avoid sitting in silence lol.

Its out as digital and disc in dom (28 May and 11 June)... Strangely, as I did look up the dom HV release dates, amazon US showed only Prime video as per amazon, no amazon sale for the discs version possible???

Amazon and Disney have had a dispute going on between them since 2016 (and they had another one back in 2014 since I remember it affecting my purchase of TWS) so they only get briefly listed on the site and then get pulled, and the pre-orders that do make it in usually have delays as well. Last year for a while they were making those titles Prime only so it's better just to skip Amazon.com if wanting to buy these movies. The Amazons in other countries don't have this issue, it's just the US one.

  7. I don't know if that filming info is for sure but I really hope we get DS2 in November next year because if not it might not be until Nov 2021, and as someone who loved his first movie a five year wait is so long. :( I'm eagerly awaiting SDCC so we can get more concrete information on the upcoming schedule to see when it's going to happen for sure. Although Jan filming is cutting it pretty/too close for a Nov 2020 release date methinks.

@Gamora I guess if you watch it again we might get to see it in the next update 😉

(I guess ~ 12 people watched it the last weekend in NZ? I am assuming cheap times as not screened during prime time anymore, and maybe cheap matinees, 2D,... maybe even 14 people?  :o .....  ;) )

Wow, I didn't even know any place was still showing the movie here. I don't think it was anywhere near me so unfortunately I'll be unable to see it again. :P

  9. I ended up seeing this twice on Saturday, once at IMAX with only maybe 30 people in a 400+ seat theatre, and once at my local cinema also with just over 400 seats but this one was nearly sold out. I really loved it and I'll be seeing it again this weekend with family, although it sucks both Godzilla and Rocketman are coming out because it's losing most of the premium theatres (losing IMAX isn't as bad since it never sold much there anyway). I'm glad to see it doing well and beating a lot of peoples' negative expectations based on the trailers, here's hoping it can leg it out and get a good total.

As an aside there's a teachers' strike here in NZ today for all schools up to high school, so that's a ton of kids looking for something to do. I've been checking out the cinema sites and the majority of screens look to be doing basically school holiday business so it'll be interesting to see how this helps the take here. Detective Pikachu is also selling more but has smaller theatres, so won't benefit as much, but it's a little boost for that too. Of course we're a small country so it won't be huge overall, but it still helps since it'll be the last day it has the bigger theatres before Godzilla and RM come out tonight for previews/tomorrow.

Regular theatre in Albany, the Gold Class was sold out which it is for most movies but that should have given it a little boost anyway. Didn’t look at how it did in IMAX but I think I would have loved it even more in that format, way more visually appealing than I was expecting.

I love Star Wars so I’ll always go to the midnights but I kinda agree Solo just kinda fizzled out and probably didn’t need a big midnight push would be like putting Ant-Man in as many theatres as Endgame just because they are both in the MCU.

Hope you enjoy the movie :).

I had a look at the IMAX session and it had sold about a third of the seats which I feel is decent? I did notice the Albany GC was sold out so that's cool. Speaking of which, thank god after Event updated their website they put back the ability to view the seat plan without having to go through the ticket-buying process. It disappeared for a few days and I was pissed but it's back now. It's just so handy to be able to look at how sessions are doing quickly.

I love SW as well, been to all the other films' midnight IMAX sessions but Solo was like, eh. It didn't help it was in May as well as opposed to December when I have time off work to go to midnights, but I did still see it opening night and it was fine. Not amazing but not terrible either.

Just got back from watching the movie, they had 6.30pm and 8.30pm showing in NZ, I watched the earlier session.

I had had a great time as did my audience, the movie has a lot of charm. Jasmine, Aladdin and Genie are all great casting and their chemistry also works fantastic. Jafar was not the greatest but better than the trailers. Humour is great, music is great, suprised how much action there was, VFX were great (though blue Genie may still not work for some). I really believe Disney messed up with the footage they used in the trailers, they had a lot of better footage although maybe they didn’t have VFX ready. So that’s the good news.

Bad news is the theatre was only about 1/4 full (slightly female skewing, mostly couples and one family were the little girl was dressed as Jasmine which was very adorable), to be fair on a Wednesday night but still gave me Solo vibes were the other three SW midnights were sold out then I rocked up to Solo and is was only half full (and those were the big fans). I just don’t know if the audience wants to accept this film; but hopefully the word of mouth gets out there because this in my opinion was top tier Disney live action remakes up there with Jungle Book as my top two.

Where did you see it? Regular theatre or IMAX? I was looking at the tickets sold tonight as well and it definitely didn't seen to be packed anywhere but I only usually look at that kind of thing for CBMs so I can't really compare since there's always a rush for those. And lol, I can't believe they bothered having Solo midnight showings here, they were ridiculously empty when I looked at them. What a waste of time.

Fingers crossed it does well during the weekend, I'll be catching it in IMAX and it sounds like there'll be a decent amount of action to appreciate there. Hearing the songs there is also a big draw for me, it's a shame it's only getting one week in IMAX. Thanks for your thoughts, it seems like people are enjoying it and that's cute there was a kid there dressed as Jasmine.

@ this and all the other good reviews.

    Well well well,

I'm not going to act like it means the RT score will be amazing but it seems promising enough.

Also I've been listening to Speechless on repeat to try to learn the lyrics before I see it. Scott's a good singer and I'm loving the song, can't wait to see it in the movie itself.

  13. Previews just started here and I was tempted to go since I'm excited for this, but I'll leave it until the weekend. I'm trying not to listen to all the songs but I just keep playing them, I gotta stop since I'd rather watch them for the fist time in the film but they're right there. There are some changes in the lyrics and obviously the tempo but it's good they've changed it up a bit imo, keep it from being just a complete redo of everything.

I really hope this does better than people have been predicting, from the reactions it sounds fun and the cast seem cool.

  14. Interesting that they're bringing both Sharon Carter and Zemo back into the MCU with this (if they do end up signing I guess?), I'm very intrigued as to how it's going to play out. Sharon didn't really have enough screentime for me to have much of an opinion on her, but if they can give her something to work with that'll be good. I enjoyed Zemo in the scenes he did get and I'm wondering if he'll be an active threat being that he's supposed to be locked up, or maybe they'll need him to help on a mission or something.

But I'm very much looking forward to this show overall, Bucky and Sam are two of my favourites and Anthony and Sebastian work well together, so it'll be great to see them playing off each other in this. They had a nice level of comfort with each other at the end of Endgame so I can't wait to see how that plays going forward now that Steve's not around (or at least not in an ass-kicking capacity).

It's quite a while away being that it's not screening until August 2020 but I hope that's enough time for Disney+ to be available here. I will pay money to watch this Disney, do you hear me?!
