  1. Viggo seems to have a lot of supporters in the Academy (though I don't know if Green Book has changed that). His out of nowhere nom for Captain Fantastic is still a head scratcher
  2. What are the chances of a Spidey announcement or is it still too soon Curious what the Top Gun reactions will be and whether it can expand its appeal beyond the dad demo. Paramount must have a ton of confidence in it to screen it so early
  3. Looks cute. Are they going to try ignite another romance between Hemsworth and Portman because that’s something I don’t really feel like watching again
  4. He also doesn't exude ~goodness like Superman should. There's something very dead-eyed and Patrick Bateman about him, even in his interviews. I think Nick Hoult would probably be a good Superman. He has kind eyes lol
  5. I think a whole cohort of Gen X and millenial men will rush out to see this and make the OW huge (anecdotally, men over 35 at my office who I have never known to be filmgoers have mentioned this on multiple occasions as something they want to see), but who knows if it can broaden its appeal beyond that
  6. Hmm, that will be interesting to track although both George and Julia have been out of the spotlight so long, idk who is really checking for them anymore. Neither have had a hit for years (decades?). I think romcoms are the kind of movies that need hundred wattage casting juice behind them to succeed. a Leo and Kate romcom? Would smash at the box office. Tom and Zendaya? Would print money. Anyone else? Eh. Maybe Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively if they really played up the IRL romance. Sandra and Keanu, although The Lake House was only a modest hit. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams might be lightning in a bottle again.
  7. Is the new George Clooney/Julia Roberts romcom a theatrical joint? I think that will be a good case study for whether theatrical romcoms are dead or whether the 2010s just haven't had the stars to propel them
  8. In retrospect, the idea of sticking to a casting decision made when Bonnie Wright was nine years old once it became clear Ginny was going to be more important from the sixth movie onwards, was wild.
  9. If you'd told me a few months ago that Uncharted would end up outgrossing FB3 in not only its OW but domestically, I would've asked to you to share some of that peyote you were smoking
  10. For a movie that cost $200m and is part of one of the biggest IPs in history, there’s no way this is even close to decent. It’s not “scary” to say so
  11. Hmm, I didn't really like this. I can see what it was going for, but it was just gray and flat and didn't hold much of my interest at all The Bjork scene was fun though
  12. Between this and Babylon, Margot Robbie has the most interesting slate of upcoming projects of any actor IMO. Her Harley Quinn era was dicey but hopefully that's behind her now - it didn't seem like the audience really cared about her as that character beyond a Halloween costume anyway. I think she's been far smarter with her career than Jennifer Lawrence who focused on getting big paydays after she made it big. Margot's been seeking out interesting work with varied creatives and seems to be taking a more active hand in production beyond just being an actress.
  13. I hate rooting for a film to fail but FB3 might just have to be the sacrificial lamb for me to get the Marauders prequel I deserve
