  1. I only agree with Chalamet and Holland (maaaaaybe Butler too since he’s scoring high profile roles). Tom will be playing Spiderman for the next ten years at least so he’s going to stick around even if he’s in nothing but flops the rest of the time (see Hemsworth, Evans). Uncharted has made him a legit box office draw though so that’s already put him ahead of Hemsworth and Evans in half the time Still think you’re smoking something potent re Centineo and Elordi. Their 2000s equivalent is like….Chad Michael Murray. Or Zac Efron if I’m being extremely generous. There is nothing more fleeting than the whims of teenage girls And I’m not convinced about the power of DC to make stars, especially stars in third-banana roles. See Ezra Miller, Zachary Levi etc. Not even convinced about Marvel’s power to make stars anymore - Simu Liu isn’t a star, no one from Eternals popped, Brie Lardon’s career has gotten worse since being Captain Marvel. I think Chadwick was the last one
  2. I'm with you. Most of these stars just broke out in the last five years....or haven't even yet in the case of Austin Butler. Big roles fade so quickly. Stardom is fleeting and the next hot thing is just around the corner. Almost none of the people mentioned have proved to be any type of box office draw or to have any kind of longevity.
  3. Actually I wouldn’t even put Elordi on the same tier as Hemsworth or Theo James - at least they’ve been in actual movies. This kid is sixth lead on a teen HBO show. There’s nothing promising on his upcoming slate, he’s not been “in talks” for anything significant. Putting the cart way ahead of the horse As you know I always trust the good judgment of Grace Randolph 😵‍💫
  4. I don’t think Noah Centineo is going to break out. Playing third banana to The Rock isn’t going to make him blow up suddenly Elordi may get lucky if he gets cast in a superhero franchise or he may not and he’ll go on the same trash heap as Theo James, Liam Hemsworth etc
  5. I still think it’s a dumb comparison. Longevity with teen stars like this is always borderline and none of them have even come close to proving themselves yet. There’s going to be another hot streaming show next week and then another one and another one. They are not even close to being in the same demand as the other people you mentioned. Stardom like this is always fleeting
  6. Seriously, the Euphoria actors are on the same level as Riverdale actors right now. None of them have proved themselves in non-streaming movies to be included in the same sentence as Saoirse or Tom or Timothee. And at least Lili Reinhart was in Hustlers and Cole Sprouse was in that Fault in Our Stars rip-off that was a modest hit. Not even Zendaya has proved herself yet. Yes Euphoria is a hot, but her other movies have been franchises that would’ve done about as well with or without her. Her one lead role in a movie, Malcolm and Marie, barely made a dent on Netflix
  7. Now why would you put Saoirse Ronan in the same sentence as the actors on Euphoria 😭 The Euphoria cast minus Zendaya are exactly the type of flash-in-the-pan people that disappear after their hit show ends. Saoirse Ronan has four Oscar nominations at the age of 25
  8. Rachel McAdams could’ve had a bigger career if she wanted it but I think she likes being more low key. Still think her one-two punch of Mean Girls and The Notebook in 2004 as her Hollywood debut was legendary
  9. Can Margot Robbie sell a movie? She’s a star but I wouldn’t say she’s a draw necessarily. Birds of Prey did pretty terribly, to say nothing of TSS
  10. Sort of miss when Cruise would do ~real acting. A Few Good Men was on TV the other night and he’s just so good in it. Toe to toe with Jack Nicholson without breaking a damn sweat
  11. Internationally, yes. Domestically, not so much. What was his last domestic hit outside of Mission Impossible? Jack Reacher, Oblivion, The Mummy, Edge of Tomorrow etc all did pretty bad business in the US
  12. I mean it's an R-rated horror movie with no stars. I don't think this would've done much better pre-pandemic
  13. Getting David Yates back was their first big mistake. It's a new franchise, take a risk and go with someone who has a fresh vision. The world is so expansive, but they make it feel so narrow. Good thing is the Harry Potter IP is strong enough to survive this. You could easily get viewers back with another pitch that works. Maybe the Marauders?
  14. I wonder how many of these people will actually have substantive parts. Like is Dane de Haan just going to be Scientist #3 with two lines? Is Florence Pugh going to appear in a dream sequence then disappear?
  15. Is this still filming? I feel like it's been filming for months now. Hopefully COVID didn't blow up the budget too much
  16. That Sonic 2 range seems very sus considering how well the first one did
  17. I don’t know what you can extrapolate about the rest of the market from this. Scream did well, Dog was a hit, Uncharted outperformed even its highest estimates. NWH speaks for itself. There could not be better circumstances for this movie to debut Or maybe Batman underperforming is entirely about the movie and the brand, and has nothing to do with the market. Interested to see how this thing plays out
  18. Not even, but I thought it would easily clear 150m+ and maybe push for the March record. My mistake was thinking CBM were back after NWH. it’s clear now that was the exception not the rule
