  1. Upon reflection my guess is they cut it because they liked the transition from the blood into the next scene. Still they could have played around with the placement of the Queenie scene; it could have happened later in the movie, for instance after Kama arrives to show she's had enough of this (and also make Vinda seem clever for predicting she would attempt to escape) or they could have placed the scene right after the movie titles before Credence and co arrive.
  2. It seems they always do this: They cut Lupin and Tonks hugging before the battle of Hogwarts mentioning their son, but still left in Harry's line about him. The deleted scenes are announced. Strangely enough this scene is not listed.
  3. Maybe a combination that they don't like the author and just like having a series to hate on.
  4. Here is the solution for you: Replace the director with David Yates midway through production. His first course correction: Why aren't they all wearing suits? Fixed!
  5. Actually that was always part of the plan, evident from the fact there is a deleted scene showing Credence leaving New York. Not to mention there is a close up of some piece of the obscurial after the destruction, and while that's more subtle both me and my brother called it back in 2016. As to you other points it's been known that Dumbledore is gay since 2007, but other than that I agree that there are tons of stuff that's probably made up along the way.
  6. Did anyone think in hindsight that the trailers and official synopsis were too vague about what the movie was about? Just tossing out the question as it just occurred to me that basically nothing of the plot was revealed in the trailers apart from assembling the team (not a spoiler). I'm not saying they should reveal a lot, but maybe it would have been wise to suggest it's about I mean in most movies you know the premise of the plot when going in, meaning at least the first 15 minutes tend to be fairly predictable in that regard and personally I like knowing what kind of plot/premise I'm walking into, but then after knowing the premise I want the movie to surprise me. However, as a digression, when it comes to Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts it's a different matter personally. It's kind of fun not knowing much beforehand because I know the world and find that uncovering the plot is part of the fun. Thus purely from a selfish point of view I adored that the trailers didn't spoil me, but from a marketing POV I feel it may have been a mistake to cater to fans. That said the nostalgia bait was probably a good move. What do you guys think? Could the film have fared better if they marketed it differently?
  7. As much as I love NWH, I'd be hard-pressed to make the argument that's it's a thematically deep movie. But it certainly has well thought out themes and I found it emotionally satisfying so I'm not sure why people want it to be something more than what it's aiming for.
  8. And lose money? Not a chance they even considered it! Besides it will be on HBO Max in less than 45 days getting more subs. That said time to end this franchise. We got a closed ending for most of its characters. They should give us the grand duel, but rebrand it as a Dumbledore prequel, target it mostly for adults and reduce the budget to 120 million.
  9. Agreed. And make that VERY clear. Newt is a fun side character to make the world richer with all his beasts, but they should not clutter the main plot.
  10. Hard to say without seeing it in context of the scene, but I suspect it simply may have disrupted the flow of the scene. That scene was gradually building in dramatic intensity until the restaurant was on fire, leaving Dumbledore all by himself. As much as I would have liked to see that deleted moment, I have a hard time picturing where it would fit.
  11. Maybe you will find it clearer on a rewatch as Either way the film admittedly does make significant events of CoG seem less... significant in hindsight. That second movie became even more mediocre in my book seeing how its main plot with Credence However that doesn't impact my enjoyment of SoD as a self-contained film (though as a part of a series the Credence storyline obviously felt disappointing in
  12. Oh well if this is it, I'm suitably satisfied with this last movie. Certainly has some annoying flaws which could easily have been fixed, but overall such an engaging and fun adventure movie.
  13. They should also include some beasts in the duel as suggested by someone else. An excellent opportunity to retroactively adapt the moment from the Order of the Phoenix book when Fawkes saves Dumbledore from the killing curse, which was not included in that movie, but should be relevant here.
  14. I would also add that it should without doubt be the best duel in the entire Wizarding World catalogue. The bar was set high with the Dumbledore vs Voldemort duel back in 2007 to the point that nothing has exceeded it so far, but it's still inexcusable if they don't top it over 15 years later with the development of CGI and Yates' experience of working on these movies since then.
  15. He might as well finish it if they only make one more. But I do wish he would let himself indulge in lengthy action scenes for once. Yes, I mostly like the way he shoots and edits his chase sequences to be short and intense, and I LOVE the tension-building in SOD, but the bigger operatic battles involving multiple people are sometimes lacking. Heyman should push him to deliver the best action he's ever done if he's to continue directing.
  16. I don't know, but the way this movie ended Grindelwald is back to square one. He'll have to hide in the shadows for years planning his next move and even then the wizarding community will never forget his crimes.
  17. I get what you mean, but SOD felt more conclusive to me considering they had an ending to certain storylines set up in COG Also the main election plot is self-contained within this movie.
  18. Also that would be an amazing tagline marketing wise, especially if the movie can deliver on that premise.
