Get the hottest Chinese actors or Chinese American actors cause everyone likes to be represented by beautiful people. if you think that hotness of BP cast didn't factor in popularity and cross-appeal think again. -
Yep and all of these are huge surprises (plus BP becoming #1 MCU movie dom and breaking 700M barrier that team movies couldn't). of course, we also had a once in a lifetime bomb that we BO nerds appreciate as much as once in a lifetime hits.

I hope he and Jordan make the cut. Someone needs to represent genre movies and Jordan was good enough.

I think he'll miss nomination if BKKK continues to perform as tepid with awards as it did so far. It seems that critics consider Green Book the important movie/movie about race relations and don't care to support another. Like, there can be only one or something. Also, his category has 3 almost locked contenders (Ali, Elliott, Grant) so 2 more spots could go virtually to anyone from stronger movies.

BP is coming. elitists still think it ain't gonna happen and they are in for a shock that shouldn't be a shock at all. Disney is campaigning the shit out of it, it has great narrative including that AMPAS has acknowledged that popular movies with high critical score should have bigger presence among nominees. And with super fluid Director field beyond Cooper/Cuaron, Coogler has a shot. Ditto Jordan in fluid Supporting Actor minus stable looking Ali/Grant/Elliott.

Exactly. It seems to me that some posters here have an axe to grind against this movie (Isn't Disney/MCU?) so they are looking for any "stats" that feed that narrative.

Yes it's animated Spiderman so no one is predicting 800M. What's the problem? Also, Parker or Morales, doesn't really matter. People like Spiderman. they are not attached to particular actor and quite possibly to particular character either. Both are teenagers who don Spiderman costume, make funny quips and don't kill people. So that's Spiderman. whether his name is Peter or Miles, shrug. Not to mention this is the first movie with Miles so my theory that it doesn't matter is as good as yours that it does. we don't know cause there's no precedent. we'll find out soon. Same goes for innovative animation that in no way resembles super kiddie-oriented Lego one.

ASIB crawl to 200M is annoying. Hopefully Globes noms speed it up. FB2 is a terrible failure thought not the level of Solo thanks to foreign markets.

I don't think that LEGO Batman is a good comparison. This is Spiderman, not LEGO Spiderman. 300M OS is entirely doable. No, Europe won't watch only MPR and Asia won't watch only Aquaman, not to mention that Spiderverse OS roll out is trying to skip direct competition with those movies in some markets.

It's gonna make Venom numbers dom with lower opening but longer legs. OS should get it to 300M at least so 500M WW minimum. On 90M budget, that's a big success.

Yep, because critics were talking big breakouts for GB and Widows after TIFF. Many reviews for either movie had "will make lots of money". We (who made over-prediction,kudos to everyone who was reasonable) should have known better than to trust critic's boxoffice forecast and festival crowd's reaction which is more in line with critics and far less with GA.

IMO, they biggest mistake right from the start was too old cast. Newt in the book was 21. With Redmayne and consequent adjustment of other characters' age upwards, they skewed too old. The element of growing up with characters was gone and that was one of the main attractions of HP. And it didn't help that characters are really blah and JKR can't write a script to save her life.

It isn't impressive in itself. it's just impressive in comparison to Widows since it's making almost the same in half the theaters. It says more about how unimpressive Widows run is than how impressive Green Book one is, since it isn't anything special.

FB2 is DOA. It has OS to fall back on but that crazy budget is a problem. I don't know how they are going to course correct it. And before anyone puts the blame on Depp, he alone couldn't damage the unappealing product. I'm sure that some people boycotted BR cause of Bryan Singer but boycotters are extremely small percentage in any case. FB2 simply has bad WOM due to convoluted story that even fans have trouble following, stupid retcons and dull heroes. Green Book is a proof that you can't force people not to like certain type of movies, at least certain demos will always like them. It's the same with Princess and Barbie dolls. Girls will always prefer them to action figures no matter what media says.

Agreed. I'm not big on animated movies but I'm seeing this. Miles eyes are so expressive and you have a feeling that it isn't animated, I don't know how to explain it.
