i would be very surprised if most of the people on here who are criticizing disney for being “too woke” would change their tune if they started…being better at inclusion? like if America Chavez being gay becomes a major plot point, they would be totally 100% not homophobic about it? i don’t really think so. like yeah, no shit disney is super cynical when it comes to representation, i think most of us would agree on that. i also think there’s a lot of people on here who just don’t like seeing gay characters and are hiding behind that argument because it’s convenient.

yeah also the reason Strange is so popular might have less to do with him being a beloved character and more to do with audiences seeing him and thinking "oh ok, this movie's gonna be important." but I don't think you get to Spidey or even Thor-level grosses if it's "just a Doctor Strange movie"

200m is a tossup i think. NWH had a 5.2x IM, endgame had 6x. average those for 5.6x and you get… $201m for MoM😅

yeah i do think the idea that MoM has a flimsy script is kinda funny. like in comparison to what? even the best mcu movies were good in spite of/unrelated to their writing, not because of it

kinda more excited after reading some of the reviews. i’m a big fan of wacky, messy creative departures in the mcu (gotg2 is my favorite of them all) so i think i’m gonna be all over this. but also, no trademark formula = morbius WOM, thinking 150/300 as of rn

300m+ seems like a safe bet for this no? every MCU third movie has had a pretty sizable increase, and kang will make it relevant in a way the past films weren’t Iron Man 3: +31% (312m —> 409m) Captain America 3: +57% (260m —> 408m) Thor 3: +53% (206m —> 315m) NWH: +106% (390m —> 804m) (also probably not a great comparison) needs a 39% increase to get there. personally over/under 350 sounds about right to me

Bad Guys is a non-sequel, non-disney animated movie and there haven't been a lot of those since the pandemic. but generally they tend to be waaay more walkup-heavy with much lower previews. like for instance The Addams Family did a 20x IM back in fall 2019, and that was an established IP already. Stuff like Abominable and Captain Underpants like someone else mentioned have done 30x or more easily.
