  1. Second?? Wow, not gonna lie, I thought I would be the first one out. This was my first time playing and I am relatively new to the forum so I don't have much experience predicting movies. Congrats @ZeeSoh on winning, totally deserved!! And well played @DAJK, you would have been a deserving winner as well. Finally thanks @SLAM! for all of the effort you have put into this!
  2. Wow, I would have never guessed I would make it to the final 3. Good luck to the both of you and I'm sorry @Fancyarcher that you were not in the final 3, you totally deserved it.
  3. We also have to take into account that the final World Cup game is this weekend so that will deflate the international number for sure. I think it'll have great legs, people are not in a hurry to watch it and have the entire christmas break
  4. This looks really good. I hope 2023 is the year where WDAS and Pixar make a big comeback with this and 'Wish'. 'Strange World' is almost guaranteed to bomb so I would love to see 'Elemental' doing at least +$200m DOM and +$450m WW. I also think that with the pandemic people got used to watching animated Disney movies at home but Minions 2 just made almost $950m WW so people are still willing to pay for animated movies. Would have loved to see how 'Soul', 'Luca', and 'Turning Red' would have performed in theatres without COVID, I think 'Soul' would have been massive in the US
  5. I must be the only one around here that liked the finale and is pretty excited for future seasons. I mean I didn't think it was perfect but overall the first season has been pretty good and enjoyable, high quality TV content IMO. I think one of the things this season pulled off was setting up future seasons which, if they are able to pull it off, could be fantastic.
  6. I watched the first two episodes on Friday on the biggest screen possible and I loved them. I am a huge LotR/Middle Earth fan, I have read the books including The Silmarillion and Children of Hurin so my opinion might be a little bit biased just cause I love this world. I thought the production was outstanding and the characters, so far, are more likeable than I would have thought. It is true that they could have used an extra battle/action scene in these episodes. Perhaps they could have extended the battle shown in the prologue. The changes that they have made so far don't bother me and I think they still keep the Middle Earth essence, however, it could become a problem for future seasons depending on how much they adapt. I really don't understand what people who thought this was slow were expecting, IMO the pace was good and sets up rest of the season. Since people love to compare this to GoT, the first three seasons of GoT were really really slow until the last 1-2 episode of each season and I loved GoT but tv shows need to build story arcs and character development so there is a certain pay off at the end. Anyway, really great start and I hope the season finishes with a strong note.
  7. I didn't find this movie particularly intriguing but with this recent news it is one of my most anticipated for the year
  8. I'm honestly tired of these "they should respect everyone's beliefs and opinions" and then the opinion is that LGBT people should not exist and/or should not have same rights as everyone else. Makes me wish Thanos was real Edit: Btw, I'm really excited to watch this movie now. Based on the reviews I don't think it is going to be in my TOP Pixar movies but the trailers looked fantastic.
  9. Not bad for being the first time I participate in this. It seems that I either do terrible or reach 2nd place, so...
  10. I watched 'Top Gun: Maverick' yesterday night. It is definitely not my type of movie. The third act was incredible though. Glad to see something that does not involve superheroes get big numbers, makes me really excited for the rest of the summer.
  11. The teaser is really beautiful and people are intrigued by it but I don't think there'll be a huge rush factor like Endgame, although it could end up outgrossing it. I really want to watch this in theatres just by how beautiful it looks. I think it is pretty safe to make sooooo much money and could come close or outgross the first one, the other sequels planned tho I am not so sure yet... Right now I think: OW: $224M DOM: $870M WW: $2,44B without China
  12. I know the MCU is putting a lot of content out there and it can be exhausting but I have the impression that Phase 4 onwards the MCU will spread a lot more (Multiverse, Young Avengers, Supernatural, Street heroes...) that will likely come together to fight a big bad guy in Avengers 6/7, whereas Phases 1-3 only focused on Infinity Saga. Let's see if this works out, it is definitely a big challenge but hopefully they make it work. I have the impression that we are just at the beginning of the next puzzle and some of the meltdowns here remind me of the meltdowns for Age of Ultron and Civil War where people claimed that the MCU had reached its peak (I wasn't registered yet but those threats were fun to read).
  13. This is purely anecdotal to my Doctor Strange 2 showing (I went on Friday night here in Spain so lots of fans there) but these were the reactions to the trailers shown: - Lightyear: lots of chatting and excitement - Top Gun 2: no reaction - Jurassic World: Dominion: lots of excitement with the original trio and the concept of the movie - Avatar 2: people were questioning if it was the re-release of the first movie or the new one, they were surprised with the title and one even said "finally" but not a lot of excitement - Thor: Love and Thunder: lots of laughs
  14. Wow, that was a lot to process. I need a rewatch to properly judge it cause it was all moving so fast, the movie could have used an extra 20-30 min IMO. There are things that I absolutely loved and things that I did not like that much. The movie was non-stop action and there wasn't a single second that I was bored. The Illuminati scene was pretty great (soooo happy that John Krasinski was Mr Fantastic, hope he stays for universe 616) and loved how brutal the battle and the deaths were, however I think an extra member and perhaps a longer battle would have left a better taste. I also would have liked to understand Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch powers a bit more, I mean I know it is magic but they are just so powerful that it makes you think that what is the point of them fighting if I cannot understand what is going on. I expected a battle like the battle of Doctor Strange vs Thanos on IW but extended. I also would have preferred if they would have shown instead of told how Wanda lost her mind reading the Darkhold. I know she has it at the end of Wandavision but it felt like a completely different Wanda in this movie. For casual fans that have not seen the TV show the last time they saw her was in Avengers: Endgame, so I think a bit of time spent on the Darkhold and the other book and their magic would have been great. Now, I loved how different this movie was from previous MCU movies. As I've said the battles were brutal and at points it really had a lot of horror elements. I like that Marvel is experimenting with this, makes it feel fresh. My ranking (will maybe change on rewatch): 1. Avengers: Infinity War 2. Avengers: Endgame 3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier 4. Spider-Man: No Way Home 5. Marvel's The Avengers 6. Thor: Ragnarök 7. Guardians of the Galaxy 8. Captain America: Civil War 9. Iron Man 10. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness 11. Ant-Man 12. Black Panther 13. Guardians of the Galaxy. Vol 2 14. Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 15. Captain Marvel 16. Spider-Man: Far From Home 17. Spider-Man: Homecoming 18. Avengers: Age of Ultron 19. Doctor Strange 20. Black Widow 21. Ant-Man and the Wasp 22. Thor 23. Captain America: The First Avenger 24. The Eternals 25. Iron Man 3 26. The Incredible Hulk 27. Iron Man 2 28. Thor: The Dark World TV shows: 1. WandaVision 2. Moon Knight 3. Hawkeye 4. Loki 5. Falcon and the Winter Soldier 6. What If
  15. Without going into stereotypes I think animated movies that were more "male driven" have not done so bad either. I mean Big Hero 6, Wreck it Ralph, and even Zootopia were movies that did not follow the princess-prince storyline and still made a lot of money, one of them even made a billion dollars. Then Pixar has proven success recently also with Toy Story 4, Incredibles 2 or even Disney+ hits like Luca or Soul.
  16. I actually really liked this, looks stunning visually. I agree that it totally feels like a summer epic blockbuster and I am all in for it and, as much as I liked No Way Home and probably Multiverse of Madness I am ready to take a break from all the cameos and craziness. Looks like it will explore a lot more the cosmic/space aspect of the MCU which IMO is one of the most interesting sides of the MCU, can't wait!
  17. Honestly they could have skipped completely Crimes of Grindelwald and done Secrets of Dumbledore directly after the first Fantastic Beasts and IMO it would have worked much better. Without going into details on the movie and how it ends, Secrets of Dumbledore could have been the middle chapter of a trilogy of movies focused on Newt, Dumbledore and Grindelwald. I think Crimes of Grindelwald did a huge damage to the Fantastic Beasts brand. I am a huge Potter fan and I was not impressed by the first Fantastic Beasts but I did not dislike it either and was willing to give the series another try with the next one to see where it was going. However, after seeing how awful Crimes was I stopped caring, I went to watch Secrets of Dumbledore because one of my best friends wanted to go. Like myself, I think a lot of fans just don't care anymore.
  18. I've seen the movie and I think it is the best Fantastic Beasts movie and far better than the last one, which was absolutely horrible. Sadly, the gay romantic scenes between Dumbledore and Grindelwald can be easily removed and for the audience's eyes it would just be a fight between two guys who used to be friends (sad, but it is how straight people view LGTB historic figures sometimes). However, this is the closest we have been to have a gay romance between protagonists in a big budget blockbuster (correct me if I'm wrong), which is also sad...
  19. LMAO I fucking sucked this time, I had never heard of the new movies opening this weekend. Anyway, it's my first time participating in this thing and so far its been really fun.
  20. OW/DOM only 1. Avatar 2: $174M / $612M (this is a wildcard, on one hand I can see this smashing and topping the first one but, on the other hand, I don't see any excitement for this and nostalgia is not as strong as for Force Awakens or No Way Home. Anyway, people will watch this, will update with the first trailer, if it ever gets released lmao). 2. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever: $180M / $510M (This is bound to drop from the first one, still will make amazing numbers). 3. Jurassic World: Dominion: $156M / $425M (I think this will stay relatively flat to Fallen Kingdom, dinosaurs running free on earth is a cool concept). 4. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: $170M / $418M (After No Way Home and WandaVision this will increase significantly from previous one). 5. Thor: Love and Thunder: $158M / $414M (This will increase from Ragnarok, Thor is a pretty popular character after IW / Endgame so he will have his first $400m DOM movie). 6. The Batman: $153M / $405M (This will be the first major movie that makes people come back to theatres since NWH, hopefully Omicron situation will be better). 7. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: $89M / $283M (This would easily make +350m DOM if it did not compete against Avatar, again, Avatar could make less than predicted or maybe it is a win-win situation for both like Last Jedi ($620M) and Jumanji ($404M)). 8. The Flash: $96M / $280M (Having the multiverse stuff in the movie will help it but at the same time audiences would have already seen it twice in NWH and MoM so it is not as fresh or exciting). 9. Lightyear: $83M / $278M (That trailer was fantastic IMO, I think this could be the first animation movie to do big numbers since the pandemic started). 10. Black Adam: $78M / $202M (I have a feeling this will do well, but again Black Adam is a villain of Shazam and that one did $134m DOM).
  21. Just finished watching Shang Chi, such a great movie. I really hope the legs are fantastic. Having seen the film I don't understand the people that were calling Simu Liu ugly or not hot enough...like damn, that is not hot enough for you? I'll take him no worries
  22. Fantastic numbers for Shang-Chi, watching it tomorrow. I really hope it has amazing legs and studios start opening big movies again exclusively in theatres. Free Guy performance and now (hopefully) Shang-Chi prove that releasing the film on streaming platform same day as theatres is a really bad idea. Idk how it is in North America but in Europe, and I suspect Asia and South America, piracy is really a problem. Most of my friends wanted to watch Black Widow but watched it illegally for free, it's not a choice of theatres or 30 dollars on Disney+/ 15 dollars HBOmax, people see it as theatres or for free at home.
