    I gave it some credit within a minute of it starting because it's actually not a sweeping epic about Bob Marley's entire life like the other music biopics. It's focused on a specific period of it, which was initially a pleasant surprise. However it still injects all the necessary flashbacks to cover those beats later lol. And it still somehow brushes over major aspects of his life while never really finding a clear narrative through-line to go in. Marley is sooo passive in this.

    Saw it this morning and didn't like it. At most I suspect the general response could be a tepid positive, it's so tame and forgettable.

    There's approximately one billion twists in this. Each one more tedious than the last, and several get untwisted within minutes.

    Two acting noms, writing and also best picture outside of a bunch of technicals is still quite a bit nuts, it's more nominations than several of recent years' Best Picture winners.

    That's not really how this works, hardly any films with a ton of nominations end up translating into a ton of wins.

    Here I was thinking you were being funny and accurate by referring to them as Slop 1 and Slop 2 before realizing SLOP legit is the actual acronym.

    Oh! I saw Suzume last night and really enjoyed it, finally a complete slate of animated nominees I'm very happy with. Let's hope the Oscars don't drop the ball on that.

    Reviews coming out averaging good not great territory. 71% on RT with 21 reviews. 6.7 average which is very solid.
