Deadpool and Woverine will have bigger OW, but this one will have better legs, at least that's how I feel at this point, they are gonna be close. So essentially this year is a battle for the biggest R rated movie ever (not adjusting to inflation), it will be interesting.

Again, you can't make as many Joker solo films as Batmans because he's a bad guy, you can't do a procedural structure here, but the character is definitely more popular than Batman. Suicide Squad box office was carried by him, a much better sequel dropped like a rock as soon as he left. The Dark Knight had this massive increase over Begins precisely because of Joker. Tim Burton's Batman did what it did because of Joker. The Batman didn't even cross 800 mln despite glowing reviews, he gave nothing to Justice League and it flopped. Numbers are numbers, can't argue with them.

Damn( Couldn't care less about IF, I hope they'll release it publicly around the same time, I think those movies have very different demos.

He is, it's just not nearly as easy to build many movies around him as with Batman because he's a bad guy without redeeming qualities.

No, Erik, it's delayed a year because it tested very poorly and they bringed Chad to save the ship with massive reshoots and re-editing, therefore delaying Highlander reboot principal photography start once again.

Well, if we go with all movies ever made, then most movies don't do anything new, everything was done in one way or the other.

I disagree about this, unless you mean movies which are not mentioned as Joker's main inspirations. Mentally ill character who actually visits a dispensary constantly as part of his daily life and has trouble getting prescription for medication he needs because of distribution problems and nearly closed health institutions is something very real and absolutely wasn't done in those particular movies at all.

This has nothing to do with gender pay gap, she would've gotten 20 mln if she was a co-star in the first movie, it's absolutely logical Joaquin would earn more since the movie not only did a billion, but also earned him his first Oscar, he simply has more leverage. And 12 mln is still big star paycheck, nothing to be sad about.

First Joker was deconstruction of the character, deconstruction of the myth about him, that's why it's the most realistic version of Joker, he's not this cool and fetishized mastermind like in the source material and all other adaptations, but more of a sad and miserable mentally ill guy who desperately needs help, but can't get one. I understand why some people want to see "cool criminal mastermind" version more, but I don't see the problem with having this one when we already have many versions of cool mastermind and will get many more. Plus there's no movie with criminal mastermind version, unless you want to see 2 hours of Joker being successful with his evil plans and that's about it.

It's absolutely made to make money, I just want other 200+ mln productions have effort put into them. And I don't mean only comic book movies, Indy 5 cost 320+ mln and looks super fake and so poorly put together for something so expensive.

Those evil Marvel movies are not well made and don't have any artistic merit, hence the difference. Comic book and Funko pops commercials can and should be better than sterile piece of plastic nothingness.

People forget first Joker already had music as an essential part of the movie, in fact it also had a dance number and Joaquin even sings a bit, so they just expanded on what was already there.
