  1. Apparently he provided all the funding himself and took out a loan against his estate to do so.
  2. Exactly. Some moron lazily "watching" a piece of crap like Bird Box on his/her smartphone because they've got nothing better to do is the absolute nadir in passive, unquestioning media consumption.
  3. Oh, I see. So you're saying that most films don't even rise to the level of mediocrity? Because if so, I wholeheartedly agree.
  4. Fixed that for you. (That is what you meant, right?)
  5. Civil War was a Captain America film in name only. Basically, Aquaman has beaten every MCU entry bar Iron Man 3, Black Panther and the Avengers flicks. That's an incredible achievement.
  6. I rewatched it too a couple of days ago after seeing Aquaman. It's so good. No Man's Land is of course superb, but the third act (which is brilliant) had me blubbering like a baby. Very emotional. And Gal's still utterly gorgeous.
  7. What they need is a songwriting credit on a perennial hit. Mariah Carey makes a lazy $4 million a year just from "All I Want For Christmas Is You".
  8. Nah, they're both very poor debuts. But what fun to see all these awards-baity films crash and burn!
  9. Aquaman's run in China has been extended until Feb 6. https://variety.com/2018/film/news/aquaman-china-extended-release-1203095812/
  10. Let's hope so (and I'm someone who loathes the current state of the film industry).
  11. Yes, but the first Mary Poppins had amazing, classic songs and Julie Andrews (and as good as Emily Blunt may be, she's no Julie Andrews).
  12. You thought right, those Aquaman numbers are just for its opening day, Dec 26th. Extraordinarily, some cinema owners actually expressed surprise at its success; apparently, they thought Ralph would top the day's takings! Such a level of cluelessness is practically congenital.
  13. Why should either of these be a surprise? Vice has never looked like a crowd-pleaser. and Holmes and Watson's release comes over two years after it wrapped.
  14. Greatness recognises greatness. Hardy's obviously a smart guy with terrific taste. Unlike some others.....
  15. Hardy's said that he based his performance on Woody Allen's neurotic screen persona, which explains the hilarity and makes him an utter hero in my book.
  16. Poor number for Mission: Impossible 6. Surely one of the Greatest Action Films Of All Time, featuring one of the Last Great Movie Stars should be comfortably on its way to $1 billion or more! Perhaps there's something about Thomas Mapother IV that just turns a lot of people off. Wonder what it could be?
  17. No, but they've perfected the art of having "humour" and "one-liners" that are singularly unfunny.
  18. Not only was his performance bad, but he looked awful, too, especially in any scene he shared with Annabelle Wallis. And that bit in the morgue! It looked like they'd stuck Cruise's head onto the body of a midget body-builder. Freaky.
  19. Gal looks sooooo good in these pics, round-of-face and ponytailed. Lovely! But I wish they hadn't jumped to the 80s - it would have been great to see her rocking some 60s or 70s fashions.
  20. As someone who loathes both Disney and Star Wars, I must say it is an utter delight to observe the alacrity with which the former is so comprehensively fucking up the latter.
