Weekend Thread (12/10-12) | WSS 800K Previews

Ah Frozen's run was legendary as a WDAS fan to finally see the studio finally be back on top was amazing. I think people were expecting around slightly higher Tangled numbers for it (which I prefer Tangled but different discussion). Make me hope the 30 day theatrical window for animated films before Disney+ isn't permanent. You'd miss out on a Frozen or Zootopia unexpected run. -
Brief watch of the Spidey scenes in Civil War and remember why he was a scene stealer in that film. Homecoming is still really fun for me seeing Spider-Man in a more grounded setting is nice and honing in on Peter losing out on what he could have in high school for Spider-Man without having it bogged down by the weight of it all. I kinda dismissed this version of Aunt May but she has some really nice scenes in this one which I realise alot of the problems I have with the supporting cast of this Spider-Man other than MJ stem from FFH. Really wished we had a proper follow up to the final scene with May but those pesky Avengers films got in the way.

Well we didn't know when In The Heights came out that it's OW would look understandable compared to WSS. -
So TASM 2 definitely the worst live action Spidey film so far but has some decent moments still. The end with Gwen does still have an emotional impact and I think what Andrew's Spidey does the best is the interactions with fellow NY people. With how the movie ends I'm actually more interested to see where Andrew's Spider-Man is at this stage of his life than Tobey's.

TASM is fine on rewatch I just get bugged out by the ending when Peter breaks his promise to Captain Stacy at the end. Preferred if he keeps it then in the 2nd one they get back together. But yeah it's a weird one to watch it's trying to go for a less camp vibe than Raimi but still has ridiculous scenes like when Peter accesses a computer that happens to expose Lizard's entire plan. Garfield is good though clearly the best actor amongst all the live action Spideys and easily the best chemistry with the female lead in Emma Stone.

So Spider-Man 3 is...decent? Like obviously there are many problems (Venom, the amnesia plot for Harry Osborn) but I like how it explores Peter and MJ's relationship (again MJ by far is the character I have grown on the most with this rewatch). Sandman is a good antagonist but with how his character is left of after this film I'm curious how NWH will handle him. Definitely would have liked a Spider-Man 4 to see if Raimi could have made a movie on par with 1 and 2 but as far as an unplanned conclusion it's not a bad place to end the series.
